Future Beast World: Becoming A Pampered Beauty-Chapter 457 - 396: Real and Fake Demon Realm
Sang Luo asked Minos, "Do you know where those two went?"
"Yes. When the Fallen God Angel tried to assimilate me back then, I also absorbed all his memories and glimpsed many unknown secrets," Minos said. "Quan Jin and Little Treasure have likely gone to the Demon Realm."
Sang Luo was stunned. She turned to look around, then her gaze returned to him. "...Aren’t we in the Demon Realm?"
Minos shook his head. "The *true* Demon Realm, not the Void Demon Realm."
Sang Luo grew even more confused.
Fei Yuan also looked at him with great interest, all ears.
Minos’s finger traced a few dots in the void. The dots connected to form lines, and the lines joined into a plane. Under the light, an identical shadow plane materialized opposite it. "Do you know why this land is called the Void Demon Realm, and not the Demon Realm?"
"The Void Demon Realm is a spatial projection of the Demon Realm, an external image?" Fei Yuan speculated, narrowing his eyes at the plane he had drawn.
Minos looked at Fei Yuan with admiration, a gentle smile on his face. "As expected of the Phoenix Venerable. You catch on quickly."
He then turned to Sang Luo and explained patiently, "The Phoenix Venerable is correct. The Void Demon Realm is the ’shadow’ of the Demon Realm. It’s an illusion, like a reflection in water, hence the name ’Void’."
"The Void Demon Realm’s original name was the Lost Land. It’s a transitional zone between the Beast World and the Demon Realm. Since ancient times, the Beast World and the Demon Realm have been in constant conflict, making this land a fiercely contested strategic point throughout history. It once belonged to the Beast World, and at other times, the Demon Realm... After countless wars and slaughters, the Lost Land’s resources were plundered and exhausted, and it eventually became an independent, masterless continent."
Fei Yuan recalled something he had read in the historical records and interjected, "But I heard that after the Beast World’s Heavenly Realm perished, the Demon Realm vanished along with it."
Minos shook his head. "The Demon Realm wasn’t as completely wiped out as the Heavenly Realm. Some remnants were left behind. Tens of thousands of years ago, the various Beast Kings and Beast Emperors exiled their clans’ criminals to this masterless continent, where they lived and multiplied for generations. But unexpectedly, a Demon Lord and his subordinates came to this land and enslaved the Beastmen here. The Lost Land was gradually assimilated by Demonic Qi, eventually evolving into the Void Demon Realm we see today—a mere shadow of the Demon Realm."
Sang Luo understood. "No wonder most members of the Demon Clan in the Void Demon Realm aren’t pure-blooded. The Demonic Qi here isn’t true Demonic Qi, but a baleful, fiendish energy."
"Luoluo, you’ve seen true Demonic Qi. Do you remember how you got to the Lost City back then?" Minos asked, looking at her seriously.
It clicked for Sang Luo, and her eyes widened. "That Black Pool in the First Realm!"
"Yes. The Void Demon Realm is divided into six domains. The Demonic Qi in the First Realm is closer to its purest form, and the root cause is that Black Pool. The Demon Entrance Pond isn’t a natural body of water; it’s an artificial world-transportation site created by the Demon Lord and his subordinates after they conquered the Void Demon Realm. The water is just a disguise. Initially, the pool was clear and cool, no different from an ordinary pond. But over time, more and more Demonic Qi seeped into the water, turning it into that bottomless, gloomy abyss."
"No wonder the aura there made me so uncomfortable." Sang Luo recalled her last experience. If not for the protection of the Holy Light, she feared she would have been completely consumed by the Demonic Qi.
"...The deeper I went, the more painful it became. I never reached the very bottom. I was sucked into the Lost City by a vortex partway down."
"The Lost City was originally territory within the Void Demon Realm. After the Demon Lord assigned it to the ancient Fallen God Angel, it completely split off from the Void Demon Realm and began drifting ever closer to the Demon Realm. It’s now situated between the Void Demon Realm and the Demon Realm. You just happened to stumble upon the Gate to the Lost City by accident."
"...Before I went there, I even had Little Carp give me a Blessing Talisman. I guess it was somewhat useful after all."
Minos smiled. "Yes, Little Carp’s talent is very special. Next time, have her give me a few, too."
「Afterward, the three of them arrived at the Demon Entrance Pond in the First Realm.」
They hadn’t been here in years, and the Demonic Qi was even denser, stirring a faint sense of unease.
The Demon Realm had been quiet for tens of thousands of years. Now, it seemed there were signs of a resurgence.
’What’s really going on? I’ll know once I go down and see for myself.’
Minos and Fei Yuan were naturally repulsed by Demonic Qi. They could tolerate it before, but upon reaching the Demon Entrance Pond, their bodies were clearly affected. Their faces grew pale and beaded with cold sweat, and a suppressed darkness flashed in their eyes.
Demonic Qi could stir up the darkest emotions and desires in a person’s heart.
Sang Luo, on the other hand, was hardly affected. She was much more composed than during her last visit.
She raised her hand, unleashing a force of interwoven black and white light to shield Minos and Fei Yuan.
The two of them visibly sighed in relief, the clarity returning to their eyes.
Only the power of a Divine Venerable could suppress Demonic Qi.
The three of them entered the Black Pool.
This time, Sang Luo encountered no obstructions. Partway down, she once again came across the spatial vortex of the Lost City.
The vortex seemed to be a living spirit with a will of its own. This time, it didn’t dare to get anywhere near Sang Luo. Upon seeing her, it tucked its tail between its legs and fled.
Sang Luo reached the bottom of the pool and saw the Gate crouching at the very base, like a slumbering behemoth awakening to open its cavernous, bloody maw. In an instant, the trio’s figures vanished without a trace!
"THUD!"
A slender figure fell from the sky and got caught in a tree. A moment later, she fell to the ground along with a snapping branch.
Sang Luo pushed herself up from the ground, holding her back and head while grimacing in pain. She looked back, but there was no sign of Minos and Fei Yuan. She had no idea where they had been thrown.
She surveyed her surroundings. It looked a lot like the Void Demon Realm when it had no sun or moon, but the conditions were even worse. The Demonic Qi was thick, poisonous miasma rose from the ground, and the barren wasteland was almost devoid of life. She couldn’t even spot more than a few Demon Beasts.
She flew high into the air and looked down. A hundred li away stood a city of considerable size—Xushan City.
"The Beishan King died violently last night. I heard the killer was a child. Is that true?"
"It’s true. I heard the child is a Pure-blooded Primordial Demon. After the Beishan King captured him, he planned to replace his own bloodline with the child’s Primordial Demon blood. But who would’ve thought the kid would awaken the Primordial Demon Clan’s most powerful law of devouring? The sacrificial ritual failed, and the child ate him like a snack!"
"The Cang Fu Demon Lord locked the child in a special Demon Cage, but when he woke up the next morning, the kid was gone! Isn’t that wild?"
"Stop chattering, you lot! Hurry up and search. That little monster is probably hiding in some nook or cranny in the city."
"The Demon Kings have ordered a realm-wide search. Whoever finds that child gets a reward of ten million Demon Crystals!"
"But... that’s a Primordial Demon cub. He even ate the Beishan King. Even if someone found him, who would dare touch him?"
"What’s there to be afraid of with the Cang Fu Demon Lord around? As long as he dares to leak even a sliver of Demonic Qi, the Demon Lord can capture him on the spot!"
Sang Luo hid in a corner as several squads hurried past.
With a thought, a clean, fair-skinned little boy with black hair and black eyes appeared in her arms. His belly was round and full, and he was still chewing on something.
