Future Beast World: Becoming A Pampered Beauty-Chapter 154 - 98: I’m Home...
"Sang, you haven’t found the real Insect King Palace. This is an Otherworldly Space Maze. We’ve been walking in circles."
The Insect King Palace appeared to be right at the foot of the mountain, so close yet so far. They had been walking for a long time without making any progress, and instead had been met with wave after wave of assassination attempts.
Lou Xianyue had left several marks along their path. When he saw them again, he finally confirmed that they were trapped in a living, shifting maze.
The purpose of such a spatial maze was to trap people forever, slowly draining their life force until they died.
If Lou Xianyue were in his own body, a spatial maze like this would be trivial. But he was currently using Sang Luo’s body and its many limitations, so his only option was to first try and break the array.
Lou Xianyue formed an array beneath his feet. A formidable power surged out like a tidal wave, and the illusion before them instantly vanished, replaced by towering walls on all sides.
"You have both Space Talent and Illusion Talent. You could try using them as a Combined Skill to create a Space Illusion Technique like this. It would have surprising effects on the battlefield. You could even kill without spilling a drop of blood." 𝐟𝚛𝕖𝚎𝕨𝗲𝐛𝚗𝐨𝐯𝐞𝕝.𝐜𝗼𝗺
’...’ ’He has time to be teaching me at a moment like this?!’
"Hurry up and figure out how to break this thing! I don’t want to be trapped here! I have to save my daughter!"
Before, when she hadn’t confirmed Little Zhi Xin was in the Insect Clan’s main camp, Sang Luo had held onto a sliver of hope and hadn’t been overly anxious. Now that she knew her cub had truly been taken by the Insect Clan and offered to the Insect King, every wasted second put her in more danger.
"Don’t worry too much. King Beast cubs aren’t so easy to kill. The moment they’re born, they form a bloodline connection with their mother. If your cub suffers a fatal injury, you’ll be affected too. Have you felt it being harmed at all?"
"...Not yet," Sang Luo replied, sighing inaudibly with relief.
Lou Xianyue touched the stone wall, walking forward one step at a time. Along the way, he destroyed several stone bricks.
The gray-green stone bricks all looked identical.
Sang Luo had studied arrays a bit. Watching his movements, she began to see a pattern. Those particular bricks were the points that constructed the space; destroying all of them would cause the space to collapse.
Sang Luo returned to the real world.
She... was still inside the Black Tower! Goosebumps erupted all over her skin.
She was on the lowest level of the Black Tower, standing on a rock above a current of golden-gray quicksand. A Split Mouth Worm, dozens of meters long, was thrashing its tentacles wildly. The churning sand pulled everything toward its gaping maw. Another moment and she would have been pulled right into the giant worm’s mouth!
Sang Luo didn’t dare hesitate. She leaped to a rock farther away, a Thunder Fire Ball condensing in her palm, and hurled it at the giant worm.
The Split Mouth Worm reflexively swallowed the Thunder Fire Ball. In the next second, a thunderous BOOM echoed throughout the entire space, the entire lower level! The whole Black Tower began to shake as if it would collapse.
Sang Luo decided she might as well go all the way and blew up the entire wretched Black Tower.
A second before the Black Tower fell, she escaped, leaving it to collapse into a pile of rubble behind her.
A clear, pleasant laugh sounded in her ear.
"You’re a quick study when it comes to controlling your power."
Sang Luo collected the Split Mouth Worm’s Beast Crystal and put it in her storage space. It was a rare one containing Rule Power, which would be very useful during her pregnancy. "Tsk! Don’t they know who they’re messing with? I’m the type who gets revenge for every single slight! They dared to kidnap my daughter? Even if it costs me my life, I’ll make the entire Insect Clan be buried with me!"
"...You won’t die," Lou Xianyue said, his tone chiding. Still, it was the first time he’d ever seen a female so protective of her child.
’Is it because... she cares about the cub’s sire?’
A lanky, nearly three-meter-tall insectoid suddenly appeared.
It had two heads and stared at Sang Luo with a burning gaze, licking its long, thin tongue. It let out a sinister cackle.
"Such tender Beastman meat. It’s been so long since I’ve found one that smells this good..."
CRACK—
Before it could finish its sentence, one of its heads was lopped off.
Sang Luo scoffed, "So annoying. Haven’t you ever heard that villains die from monologuing? An ugly thing like you wants to eat me? You may be ugly, but you sure dream big!"
The Insect Beast was furious. "I am the Fifth Prince of the Insect Clan! How dare you cut off my head! I’m going to mince you into paste!" As it spoke, a new head sprouted from the severed neck, but this one looked idiotic, drool trickling from the corner of its mouth.
"Its weakness isn’t the heads. Those aren’t its real heads. Focus your attack on the mouthpart an inch below its abdomen. That’s its true weak point..."
Following Lou Xianyue’s advice, Sang Luo immediately looked at its abdomen and, sure enough, spotted a hidden mouthpart. A smile touched her lips. "To think something so ugly is an Insect Clan prince. Anubia is a prince of the Insect Clan too, so how come he’s so handsome? Oh, right, his appearance could just be a disguise... Still, I’ve truly never seen anything as ugly as you!"
The two-headed insectoid furiously lunged forward. As it closed the distance, Sang Luo saw her chance. The lightning in her hand solidified into a sword, and she plunged it into the creature’s abdomen. With a flick of her wrist, she sliced horizontally.
The insectoid’s body was instantly sliced in two, then incinerated by a burst of fire.
Sang Luo collected its Energy Crystal Core. She had gathered a good amount of food for her next pregnancy on this trip. In the next instant, she teleported to the main gate of the Insect King Palace.
"Finally made it."
The moment she opened the door, Lou Xianyue hastily said something, but Sang Luo didn’t catch it. A blinding white light flashed before her eyes. When she opened them again, she found herself staring at familiar floors and furniture, completely stunned.
A middle-aged man and woman were bustling around the dining table. Seeing her, the woman smiled. "Dinner’s ready! Little Luo, hurry and eat!"
"Dad, Mom..."
"Sis, you were gone for a while! Quick, let me see what snacks you bought! Let me try some!" a boy said, vaulting off the sofa with a playful grin.
Sang Luo handed him the bag of snacks she was carrying and sat down at the dining table.
Father Sang came out of the kitchen, setting the last dish down in front of her. "Hurry and try some. Your favorite braised prawns. Your dad just bought them fresh from the market today..."
A tear suddenly welled up and fell from the corner of Sang Luo’s eye.
"What’s wrong, sweetie?"
"It’s nothing. I just... I think I had a dream..."
The fantastical world in her memory grew blurrier and blurrier, and Sang Luo’s life seemed to be back on track. What she had always craved deep down was her original, normal life—a simple yet warm happiness. Everything she had done was for the sake of returning here.
Sang Luo sat at the table and was about to take a bite of rice when an urgent voice suddenly echoed in her mind, jolting her awake. Her chopsticks clattered to the floor.
Then, all the fluffy white rice in her bowl turned into squirming black worms.
The people and objects around her faded away in an instant, like a slide projection.
Lou Xianyue was anxiously gripping her hand. "The Insect King is right ahead."
Sang Luo didn’t have time to ask how he had suddenly appeared there. She looked in the direction he indicated and, sure enough, saw a gigantic black insect.
Without hesitation, she lunged, stabbing her sword toward the giant insect’s abdomen.
Instantly, the Insect King’s corpse dissolved into countless smaller insects that swarmed over her, engulfing her in a moment.
AH!
Sang Luo jolted awake once more.
Lou Xianyue was still in front of her, staring intently at her.
