Future Beast World: Becoming A Pampered Beauty-Chapter 155 - 99: That Little Pepper Is So Ruthless
Sang Luo’s expression was dazed. "Is this still an Illusion Technique?"
He said, "It is not."
"What about the Insect King?"
"I have already killed the Insect King."
"Then let’s hurry and go. I have a terrible feeling—" Before she could finish her sentence, a chill spread through her chest. Sang Luo looked down to see a sharp, black insect claw piercing straight through her. Standing behind her was none other than Lou Xianyue.
Sang Luo’s eyes widened. Staring at the blood gushing from her chest, her body fell stiffly backward.
Lou Xianyue’s long, silver hair morphed into long, curly, dark-green locks, and his cold, aloof face twisted into one that was incredibly fey and wicked. Shi Yi gazed at the female, who had died with her eyes wide open, and chuckled. "When a simple, delicate little female goes out all by herself, she can run into danger, you see."
The next moment, the smile on his face vanished. The corpse on the ground dissipated like smoke, disappearing completely.
Sang Luo suddenly appeared behind him and, with a backhanded strike, sliced Shi Yi in two at the waist!
"You’re not the only one in the world who can use Illusion Techniques."
...
’Are you sure we’ve dealt with all of them this time?’
Arriving at the Royal City, Sang Luo felt incredibly thankful she had Lou Xianyue with her. Otherwise, she really wouldn’t have been able to withstand this chain of perilous situations by herself. The Illusion Realm of returning home was especially realistic; she’d almost believed that everything that happened in the Beast World was nothing more than a dream.
’Of course it wasn’t! My cubs are real—as real as can be!’
’Mm.’ His voice sounded somewhat absentminded, and she couldn’t tell what he was thinking.
Sang Luo didn’t mind.
Once she reached the Insect King Palace, she could get Little Zhi Xin back.
She had dealt with all the guards outside the Royal Palace, but the inside was eerily empty, without a single guard to be seen. Sang Luo’s spiritual power was still unusable. After taking a look around, she decided to head straight for the Insect King’s personal chambers.
Suddenly, Lou Xianyue’s voice sounded,
’That Insect King is in his chambers. His power is not something you can fight against.’
’I have to kill that Insect King! As long as I kill him, the Insect Clan will be without a leader. It’ll be as good as wiping out their main camp! But I’ve already caused such a huge commotion, yet the Insect King hasn’t shown himself. Are you sure he’s here?’
’The power fluctuations up ahead could only belong to someone at the Insect King’s level... An Elephant Tiger doesn’t care about the fuss kicked up by ants. He naturally wouldn’t show himself in person.’
’You make him sound so mysterious. Don’t tell me even you can’t beat him?’
There was no response from him again.
After a good while, he finally said,
’I am here. I’ll make sure you’re safe.’
’Are you going to possess me?’
’You are too weak. I cannot use any power that exceeds what your body can handle. If I possess you for too long, your soul won’t be able to bear it.’
Sang Luo glared defiantly at the empty air. ’What was that all about? I’m a True King Rank, you know. How could he be so disrespectful?’
’When she called herself a rookie, it was just self-deprecation; it didn’t mean she actually thought she was weak!’
When she asked again, there was only silence from his end. She wondered what he was busy with.
Still, she had Lou Xianyue’s promise.
For some reason, Sang Luo felt at ease.
Footsteps echoed from the other end of the corridor. Several tall, strong male members of the Insect Clan were leading a line of females into the palace. The females’ eyes were all vacant and unfocused; their minds were being controlled, and they had lost even the will to resist.
Sang Luo seized the opportunity to knock out an Insect Clan guard at the rear of the procession, disguised herself in his likeness, and entered the palace along with them.
And there she witnessed a scene she would never forget.
Hanging from the enormous dome of the ceiling were hundreds of giant, white cocoons. A closer look revealed that people were wrapped within them. The black dots visible beneath the cocoons were all human heads, their eyes shut tight.
And on the altar in the very center of the palace, a giant, silver-gray butterfly was tearing and biting something beneath it.
Its wingspan was a full several dozen meters, as dark and lightless as a black hole, its surface covered in intricate, swirling silver patterns.
Bizarre, beautiful, venomous, and dangerous. It was a dizzying, mesmerizing sight!
Sang Luo stared in a daze and subconsciously took two steps forward. She suddenly stepped on something, and the feeling instantly snapped her to her senses. Looking down, she saw that she had stepped on white bones. Not far from her feet lay half of a round skull. Judging by its size, it was the skull of a woman...
Gasping, Sang Luo looked back in shock at the massive, resplendent, and venomous black butterfly. The thing it was gnawing on was no mere object—it was the body of a female!
Several females in the procession snapped to their senses at the sight, screaming in terror. They tried to run, but the Insect Clan guards behind them immediately subdued them, dragging them step by step toward the giant black butterfly. Sang Luo was dragged along with them.
A small white wolf lay unconscious on the altar, right beside the giant butterfly.
It was her little Wolf Pup!
...
"That little female flame of yours is no slouch. She’s thrown the whole Insect Clan into chaos. Even I couldn’t get the upper hand; she nearly cost me my life!"
Covered in injuries, Shi Yi dragged himself to the Seventh Prince’s palace. Seeing Anubia imprisoned, the gloom on his face vanished, replaced by gloating. "Was it that Little Pepper again? Hehe, so I’m not the only one who fell into her trap. She’s really something else!"
"She didn’t manage to kill you. You’re quite lucky," Anubia sneered coldly.
"Tsk~ It’s a good thing I escaped quickly enough that she couldn’t take my Energy Crystal Core. Otherwise, you really would never see me again. After all, we were childhood friends. If I died, you’d at least be sad for a day or two, right?"
"Get lost. Who’s childhood friends with you? Cut the crap and help me break this."
This Talent Power was too bizarre. Anubia hadn’t expected Sang Luo to also be a True King Rank. The first time he met her, she was just a little female with no particular Talent Power. Now, just over a year later, her growth had been astonishingly fast. ’This means—just how many males has she been with?!’
It would take him a great deal of time to break this restraint alone, but two True King Ranks could manage it.
Shi Yi didn’t waste any more time with talk. He found a few members of the High-level Insect Race in the palace to restore his energy and, in return, helped Anubia break the restraint.
The moment he was free, Anubia’s first question was, "You’ve seen her? Where is she now?!" 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ𝑤𝑒𝑏𝑛𝘰𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝒸𝑜𝘮
"She’s heading straight for the Insect King Palace. She truly overestimates her own strength. That being is not someone she can challenge. Going there is simply seeking her own death... My Talent Power is the Illusion Technique. I originally planned to use it to delay her for a while, but I didn’t expect her to break the Array so quickly and gravely injure me. I no longer had the ability to hold her back. By now, she should have arrived at the Insect King Palace."
Shi Yi was a cunning and duplicitous person; you could only believe half of what he said. Anubia certainly didn’t believe he was being so helpful, but he figured the part about Sang Luo going to the Insect King Palace was likely true.
"Is that little cub of hers really among the Insect Clan?"
"You mean that little white Wolf Pup? That’s her child? Hehe, interesting. That’s right, some members of the Insect Clan captured that little Wolf Pup last night. It turns out the pup is an Innate King Beast and even possesses an extremely rare Soul system Talent Power. The Insect King has kept him, intending to possess him and steal his power!"
"Then she..."
"She won’t be able to save her child. In fact, she’ll be leaving her own life behind. The Insect King’s power reached its absolute peak long ago!" Shi Yi looked at Anubia’s terribly dark expression, his lips curling into a fey, eerie smile. "You’re away from the Royal Palace for long stretches, so there’s something you probably don’t know... Do you have any idea why the Insect King has never had any heirs?"
"The Insect King doesn’t like females in the slightest. All the females sent to his palace were never mated with... He ate every last one of them..."
