Chapter 17: Chapter 17: New Script

Jonny and Amie sat on the edge of the road, their bodies covered in dust and sweat, catching their breath after barely escaping the collapsing facility.

The heat from the flames behind them made the air thick and heavy, but neither of them moved for a while.

Amie turned to Jonny, her expression still a mix of shock and curiosity. "I still don't understand. How did you do all of that back there?"

Jonny exhaled slowly. He didn't have an easy answer. Even he was still trying to process everything—the sudden awakening of his system, the new power coursing through his veins, and the unexpected fight for survival. He had always been strong, but this? This was something else entirely.

"I don't know," he admitted, rubbing his temples. "I just... reacted."

Amie hugged herself, shivering slightly despite the warm night air. "Whatever it was, it saved our lives. So... thank you."

Jonny nodded, standing up and dusting off his pants. "We need to get back to the city. Do you have your phone?"

She shook her head. "They took it when they kidnapped me."

"Figures." Jonny sighed. He reached into his pocket, pulling out a sleek black business card with his name and number on it. He handed it to her.

"Here," he said. "Call me when you get home, so I know you're safe."

Amie hesitated before taking it. "You sure you'll pick up?"

Jonny smirked. "Depends. I might be busy."

Despite everything, she chuckled. "Yeah, I bet."

A few minutes later, they managed to flag down a passing car. The driver, an old man with glasses, was hesitant at first but, after seeing their condition, agreed to drop them off at the outskirts of the city.

The ride was mostly silent. Amie kept glancing at Jonny, clearly full of questions, but she didn't ask them.

When they finally arrived, Jonny turned to her. "You sure you're good from here?"

She nodded. "Yeah. I think I just need a long shower and some sleep."

"Same," Jonny admitted.

They exchanged one last look before heading their separate ways.

Jonny walked alone through the dimly lit streets, heading back toward his apartment. His body ached from the fight, but his mind was still sharp.

Something about all of this didn't sit right. AQAA had gone through a lot of trouble to kidnap him, only to let him escape so easily. It felt like there was more to the story.

As he turned onto a quieter street, the sound of screeching tires made him stop.

Two black cars pulled up beside him, their tinted windows reflecting the city lights. Jonny's entire body tensed. He had just escaped one kidnapping—was this another?

The back window of one of the cars rolled down, revealing a man in an expensive suit. He looked to be in his late forties, with slicked-back hair and a calm but calculating expression.

"Jonny," the man said smoothly. "I know everything. Exactly what happened."

Jonny didn't move. "And you are?"

The man smiled. "Someone who's been watching you for a while. And I have to say, I'm sorry you had to experience that, I'm with the AQA!"

Jonny scoffed. "Yeah, I'm sure you are."

The man ignored his sarcasm. "Get in the car. We'll take you somewhere safe. Under our protection. Welcome, Jonny. You are an asset."

With a deep breath, he got into the car.

As soon as Jonny settled into the leather seat, the man handed him a thick folder.

Jonny frowned. "What's this?"

The man raised an eyebrow. "What do you mean, what's this? Can't you see that's a script?"

Jonny's confusion deepened. "A script? What the hell do I need a script for?"

The man chuckled, amused by his reaction. "You have a scene to shoot in the next two hours."

Jonny blinked. "Excuse me?"

The man pulled out a tablet and slid it over. On the screen was a bank account summary. Jonny's name was listed, along with a balance that made his eyes widen.

"That's your account," the man continued. "We set it up for you."

Jonny stared at the numbers, then back at the man. "You're telling me... I just survived getting kidnapped and nearly killed, and you want me to shoot a scene tonight?"

The man waved a dismissive hand. "Young man, is there anything wrong with your dick?"

Jonny nearly choked. "What?"

"Good. Then use this time to prepare yourself," the man continued smoothly. "It's not going to be anything stressful. I promise you'll like it."

Jonny ran a hand through his hair, still struggling to wrap his head around the situation. He had just survived a life-or-death fight, and now they were expecting him to... act?

What kind of life was this?

The cars pulled up to a private estate on the outskirts of the city. Jonny's jaw nearly dropped. The place was massive—gated, secured, and surrounded by luxury vehicles.

"Welcome home," the man said, handing Jonny a set of keys.

Jonny took them hesitantly. "You're kidding, right?"

The man smiled. "Not at all. You've proven yourself valuable. This is just the beginning."

Jonny exhaled, stepping out of the car and walking toward the sleek, modern home. Inside, it was even more extravagant—high ceilings, designer furniture, and a fully stocked bar.

Waiting in the garage was a brand-new BMW.

Jonny ran a hand along the car's hood, shaking his head in disbelief. Less than twenty-four hours ago, he had been tied to a chair, tortured for information. Now, he had a mansion and a luxury car.

This is insane.

Still, he wasn't about to complain.

After taking a long, hot shower and changing into fresh clothes, Jonny made his way to the studio where his first scene was set to be filmed.

The moment he walked in, the atmosphere changed. People turned to look at him—some with admiration, others with curiosity. It was clear that word had already spread about him.

A woman in a headset approached, clipboard in hand. "You're Jonny, right?"

"That's me."

"Good. You're up next."

Jonny took a deep breath, rolling his shoulders.
