From Apocalypse Boss to Farmer: My Vegetables Make Me Stronger!-Chapter 46 - 43: Forced to Take the Revenge Script
Gu Xi looked up. Across the bustling crowd, Xv Yiyisan pushed up the cool frames of his glasses and smiled as he walked toward her.
Gu Xi didn’t seem surprised to see Xv Yiyisan here.
Her expression was calm.
"Mr. Xv, didn’t you return to the Central Base?" Qin Yi glanced at Gu Xi, discreetly taking her arm and stepping forward to ask.
At the same time, Wei Heng also took a step forward, positioning himself on Gu Xi’s other side.
Xv Yiyisan looked at the two young people flanking Gu Xi protectively and gave them a kind smile. "This isn’t the place to talk. Follow me."
Qin Yi and Wei Heng exchanged a look, then both turned to Gu Xi.
Gu Xi nodded.
「Half an hour later.」
Gu Xi took the oversized apple Xv Yiyisan handed her. She glanced down at it, a complex emotion flickering in her eyes for a moment.
After a moment, she looked up at him calmly. "Mr. Xv, you sent Wei Heng and Qin Yi away on purpose. Is there something you wanted to ask me in private?"
Xv Yiyisan nodded.
Time was short and the matter was important, so he didn’t beat around the bush. He got straight to the point. "Gu Xi, do you remember where your name came from?"
Gu Xi thought for a moment before answering truthfully, "I don’t remember. I’ve had this name for as long as I can remember..."
She had grown up in the Abnormal Ability Research Institute and had never met her parents. From the moment her memories began, everyone at the Institute had called her Gu Xi...
So, Gu Xi truly didn’t know the origin of her name.
’The poor girl was probably too young when she left her parents,’ Xv Yiyisan assumed. ’She must have only vaguely remembered her mother’s name was Gu Xi, and as she grew up, she mistakenly thought it was her own...’
Instantly, the way he looked at Gu Xi became even more gentle and compassionate.
Gu Xi was speechless.
"Mr. Xv, last time you mentioned that I look a lot like an old acquaintance of yours..." she asked, feigning curiosity as she fiddled with the apple in her hands.
Xv Yiyisan nodded. A nostalgic look filled his eyes as if he were seeing someone else through her. "Yes, Xiaoxi. You look just like my older sister..."
"And your sister... where is she now?" Gu Xi lowered her gaze, discreetly cracking the knuckles of her left hand as she asked softly.
"She’s missing," Xv Yiyisan looked up, his gaze fixed on Gu Xi, his expression downcast.
"Missing?" Gu Xi looked surprised, but inwardly, she felt a sense of finality, as if a suspicion had just been confirmed.
"Yes," a look of longing and nostalgia flashed in Xv Yiyisan’s eyes. "She went missing. It’s been thirty years..."
"Thirty years..." Gu Xi repeated softly. After a moment, she asked in a low voice, "How did she go missing? Have you looked for her all these years?"
Xv Yiyisan suddenly turned to face the window, a flash of cold fury in his eyes.
After a long moment, he lowered his head and said softly, "Of course I looked for her. But I couldn’t find her. No matter how hard I looked, I couldn’t find her..."
"You couldn’t find her?" Gu Xi frowned and looked up at him.
"No. I couldn’t." Xv Yiyisan repeated softly, as if talking to himself, and yet also answering her question. "It was only later that I realized... someone had deliberately erased all trace of my sister’s existence..."
"My sister... was once looked up to by the entire world. But then..." Xv Yiyisan closed his eyes, hiding the turbulent madness of deep-seated grief swirling within them.
With his back to Gu Xi, he didn’t rush to continue. He let a cold, fierce look wash over his features, the corners of his mouth slowly curling into an icy, mocking arc.
After a long pause, he spoke again in a low, scornful tone, "...they used her name to erase everything about her."
"Erase?" Gu Xi raised an eyebrow.
She watched as Xv Yiyisan threw his head back and took a deep breath, then slammed a fist onto the windowsill. He used so much force that the veins on the back of his hand bulged, a stark network of blue.
The muscles in his entire arm tensed and bunched.
He was clearly on the verge of an emotional outburst.
Even the aura of his abnormal ability began to destabilize, showing signs of leaking out uncontrollably.
’Not good.’
Gu Xi’s expression changed slightly. Just as she was about to move, she heard Xv Yiyisan speak. His voice was very soft, yet it carried an inexplicable chill.
"They erased every trace of her existence, turning the sister who was once... looked up to by the entire world... into a historical footnote, a ’person not found’."
"Who are ’they’?" Gu Xi raised an eyebrow, cutting straight to the heart of the matter.
’In the past, she had indeed told Li Ming and the others that she hoped to retire to the mountains and live a peaceful life of farming after the apocalypse ended.’
’But from the sound of what Xv Yiyisan was saying, that clearly wasn’t what had happened.’
’And it seemed there was a lot more to this story.’
’Gu Xi looked up at the little crybaby who had once clung to her leg, and discreetly pushed back the small green sprout that had quietly emerged.’
But Xv Yiyisan suddenly fell silent.
He stared at the sky outside the window, his thoughts unreadable, his face terrifyingly dark and grim.
A moment later, when Xv Yiyisan turned back to Gu Xi, his expression had returned to normal.
"Xiaoxi," he said, not answering her previous question. Instead, he looked at her with a complex gaze and said earnestly,
"Keep that thing I gave you last time safe..."
"I know you must have many questions, but now is not the time to tell you..."
"Xiaoxi, you must remember, the most important thing is to protect yourself. Don’t trust anyone... and that includes me."
"One day in the future... you will know everything."
’This is my sister’s only bloodline left in this world. She is my responsibility from now on.’
’I will definitely protect this girl.’
’Even if it costs me everything I have.’
...
Not long after Xv Yiyisan left, Qin Yi and Wei Heng rushed through the door.
"Gu Xi, are you okay?" Qin Yi asked, a little worried. She opened her personal terminal and turned the Light Screen to face Gu Xi. "This is what Mr. Shen just sent..."
It was all the information they had on Xv Yiyisan.
Gu Xi finished reading it at an incredible speed, her eyes downcast in thought.
The file stated that Xv Yiyisan was an orphan. After being rescued from a zombie siege by the most famous Doomsday Squad of the time, he had stayed by Ye Xin’s side and joined the Abnormal Ability Research Institute twenty years ago...
’The file seemed fine. At least, from Gu Xi’s perspective, the part about the little crybaby from thirty years ago was accurate.’
’The only problem was, in all of his records, there was no trace of any connection to her!’
"Qin Yi, it says here..." Gu Xi stared at a specific spot on the Light Screen, choosing her words carefully. "This Doomsday Squad... can you tell me about them?"
"Of course!" Qin Yi paused for a second, then said excitedly, "That Doomsday Squad was amazing! A lot of incredibly powerful figures came from it..."
Gu Xi listened intently.
’So, her old companions had all become powerful, high-ranking figures in the Central Base... and the post-apocalyptic heroes of that era, remembered, respected, and admired by all.’
’Gu Xi didn’t think there was anything wrong with that.’
’Her former companions had given so much for this world. They deserved every bit of praise and were worthy of any honor!’
’They were, without a doubt, the heroes of this world!’
’As for herself, a former post-apocalyptic hero, now being a ’person not found’ in the annals of history? Gu Xi’s feelings on the matter were a bit complicated.’
’It wasn’t that she was angry.’
’It was just that... it felt like she had suddenly been forced into a revenge plot.’
