The Villain Mom Awakens — Going Viral by Parenting on a Reality Show-Chapter 136: Hubby, You’re Finally Here
Caleb Bishop snapped out of it and gave Jeanette Kensington a reassuring look. "Sorry, I didn’t sleep well yesterday. My mind’s a little fuzzy."
Jeanette Kensington naturally didn’t believe his excuse, and anger flared within her.
Caleb Bishop shifted his gaze to Naomi Kenway, his expression complicated. "Nao... mi, whatever happened in the past is in the past. People have to look forward. I don’t want you to keep being difficult with Jan because of me. She’s your sister, after all. Since we’re destined to be family, can’t we just let go of our prejudices and get along?"
"Do you really think you’re some kind of nation-toppling Delilah?" Naomi Kenway laughed out loud. "Who do you think you are? You really know how to flatter yourself. I’ve been rich and pampered since I was a child. When would I ever have been involved with a poor boy like you?"
Caleb Bishop’s body stiffened. He stared intently at Naomi Kenway, his face turning a little pale.
Staring at the handsome face she had once been madly in love with, Naomi Kenway was surprised to find that her heart was completely unmoved. If she had to describe the feeling, it would be disgust.
She was disgusted by Caleb Bishop as a person, and by extension, disgusted by the year they had spent dating.
Her mother passed away, the Kenway Group changed hands, Jackson Kensington married his mistress, and Caleb Bishop cheated on her with Jeanette Kensington.
Whenever she remembered these things, Naomi Kenway felt so suffocated she could hardly breathe. And all of it, all these terrible things, had happened in the same year—the year she turned nineteen.
Jeanette Kensington stepped forward and couldn’t help but say harshly, "Naomi Kenway, you’ve gone too far! Why would you deliberately bring up Caleb’s old wounds?!"
Caleb Bishop didn’t come from a good family and had grown up in poverty and hardship. He had been fiercely competitive since he was young and had made a name for himself abroad through his own abilities. But his past struggles remained a sore spot he found difficult to talk about.
A wave of satisfaction washed over Naomi Kenway. She raised an eyebrow and said with a smile, "Old wounds? So he can feel pain after all. Considering the disgusting thing he did with you, the fact that I didn’t expose his ugly true colors to the world was an act of kindness and mercy on my part. You two should be thanking your lucky stars!"
"You!" Jeanette Kensington grabbed Naomi Kenway’s arm, but was pushed away a second later by Ian Shaw. Ian kept shoving her, yelling, "Bad auntie! Bad uncle! Big meanies! Don’t bully my mommy! Go away, bad auntie! Go away!!"
Caught off guard, Jeanette Kensington was actually shoved so hard by Ian that she stumbled and nearly fell. Luckily, Caleb Bishop caught her just in time.
Fearing that Jeanette Kensington might lose her mind and go after Ian, Naomi Kenway quickly scooped him up into her arms.
Jeanette Kensington’s chest heaved with anger. Her voice trembled as she said, "You’ve gone too far, Nicole! You’re getting more and more out of control!"
She sneered, "I was genuinely trying to make up with you. What good does offending me do you? You don’t even have a driver. I bet your treatment in the Shaw family isn’t all that great, is it? When the Shaws kick you out, don’t blame us for not taking you in!"
"Save your concern. Even if I get a divorce, I’ll walk away with a considerable fortune. You, on the other hand... you’ve been dating for eight or nine years and still aren’t married. Don’t tell me Caleb Bishop doesn’t want to marry you?"
Jeanette Kensington’s fingers clenched into a fist. As if someone had stepped on her tail, she flew into a rage out of shame and anger. "You think Ethan Shaw would let you take half his fortune? The higher people like him climb, the more calculating they become. With that stupid brain of yours, you’ll be lucky if you’re not cheated out of everything you have!"
Naomi Kenway’s thoughts began to drift. She remembered the prophetic dream she’d had: Ethan Shaw could be ruthless when crossed. In the dream, she had stepped on his bottom line, and he hadn’t even left her a path to survival.
She was doing pretty well in the entertainment industry; even if she left the Shaw family, she could live a good life with her son. But she wondered, if things unfolded according to that dream, would Ethan Shaw give her the chance to keep pursuing her career?
A slight pain suddenly twisted in her stomach. Naomi Kenway remembered the days in her dream when she never knew where her next meal would come from.
But she had already changed so much. Could things still be heading toward that tragic end? Impossible. Naomi Kenway was certain she would never, ever hurt her own son.
Jeanette Kensington thought her words had hit their mark and was about to laugh out loud when she heard a voice call out. It was a deep, magnetic voice, and it was calling Naomi Kenway’s name.
Jeanette Kensington frowned and looked over. A tall, upright figure was approaching. He had an extraordinary air about him, and his eyes held a noble, cold indifference.
This person was...
"Daddy!" Ian ran over and hugged Ethan Shaw’s leg. "Daddy, you’re finally here!"
Naomi Kenway was a little stunned. She never would have imagined that Ethan Shaw would suddenly appear here.
Ethan Shaw looked at Naomi Kenway. "Why are you just standing there in a daze? Aren’t we going home?"
Meeting the incredulous gazes of Jeanette Kensington and Caleb Bishop, an idea sparked in Naomi Kenway’s mind. She walked up to Ethan Shaw and, before he could react, threw her arms around him.
"Darling, what took you so long? I’ve been waiting forever."
A sweet fragrance suddenly filled his senses as she pressed against him. For a moment, Ethan Shaw simply stood there, stunned. It almost felt unreal. His hand came to rest lightly on Naomi Kenway’s slender waist.
"You..."
His Adam’s apple bobbed. For some reason, he felt his mouth go dry.
Before Ethan Shaw could even process the hug, Naomi Kenway had already pulled away, though she took his arm.
"Darling, they were practically bullying me to death before you got here! You have to help me get back at them!" Naomi Kenway said this with no confidence at all, knowing Ethan Shaw wouldn’t help her. Then, she stood on her tiptoes and whispered a promise in his ear:
"Please, Ethan Shaw, just do me this one favor. I’ll grant you one request in return. I can even stay away from the manor for a month and not bother you!"
To Jeanette Kensington and Caleb Bishop, however, this looked like an intimate gesture. Jeanette still couldn’t believe it. ’When did Naomi Kenway get on such good terms with Ethan Shaw? Didn’t Dad say Ethan Shaw couldn’t stand her?’
Ian piped up too, "Daddy, the two meanies were bullying Mommy! We have to beat up the meanies!"
Ethan Shaw turned his gaze to Naomi Kenway. "How do you want to get even?"
Naomi Kenway’s gaze fell on the space behind Ethan Shaw. He hadn’t brought a single bodyguard.
"Can you call your bodyguards and have them throw these two out of the airport? I’m sick of looking at them."
Jeanette Kensington frowned. "Nicole..."
"Naomi Kenway, have you been watching too many brain-rotting dramas?" But a second later, Ethan Shaw took out his phone. After a few words, Jeanette Kensington and Caleb Bishop were actually being escorted out.
Seemingly aware of Naomi Kenway’s misunderstanding, Ethan Shaw offered an explanation. "That was airport security just now. But I do have some connections here."
Naomi Kenway gave him a thumbs-up, then remembered something else. "Why did you suddenly come to the airport anyway?"
"Grandma missed you and Ian. I’m here to take you back to the old family home."
Naomi Kenway nodded. So that was why.
Meanwhile, Jeanette Kensington and Caleb Bishop couldn’t hide the dark expressions on their faces. Caleb, in particular, remembered the way that man had looked him over—a gaze of utter contempt.
