From A Producer To A Global Superstar-Chapter 249: Contract termination?
"WHAT?"
The word came out sharp and loud.
The agent stared at Min-ji as if she had misheard her.
"What did you just say?" she asked again, disbelief clear on her face.
Minji did not flinch.
"You heard me clearly," she replied. "I am not signing the contract."
Before she could finish the sentence, a low sound echoed through the room.
The door opened.
Everyone turned.
Two men walked in calmly, both dressed in dark suits, their expressions professional and unreadable. They did not look confused or surprised. They looked prepared.
The agent frowned. "Who are you people?"
One of the men stepped forward and placed a file on the table.
"My name is Attorney Han," he said. "And this is Attorney Lee."
He glanced briefly at Min-ji before continuing.
"We represent Mrs. Min-ji. We are here to formally terminate her contract with this agency."
The room went silent.
The agent’s eyes widened.
"...What?"
Attorney Han spoke again, his tone polite but firm. "Effective immediately, we are requesting the dissolution of the existing contract under the agreed termination clauses."
The agent laughed, but there was no humor in it.
"This is a joke, right?" she said. "This has to be a joke."
Min-ji finally turned fully toward her.
"Does this look like a joke to you?" she asked calmly. "I am terminating my contract. It is that simple enough to understand."
The agent slammed her hand on the desk.
"You think this is something you can just decide?" she snapped. "You think you can walk out like this?"
Minji did not raise her voice.
"Yes," she said. "That is exactly what I am doing."
The agent scoffed. "For what? To please some who ? Or are you trying to get more out of the contract ? Who is giving the guts to do this huh? You do not have the guts to stand against this industry."
Minji looked at her steadily.
"Who told you I am standing alone?"
The agent froze.
"What do you mean?"
Before Minji could answer, Attorney Lee spoke.
"Our client has authorized us to proceed with all legal matters on her behalf. We are fully prepared to settle the termination fee and finalize the exit today."
The agent’s face drained of color.
"No," she said slowly. "No, this is not happening."
She pointed at Minji. "Don’t tell me he is behind this."
Minji did not deny it.
"Yes," she said. "He is."
The agent staggered back slightly. "You..."
Attorney Han adjusted his glasses. "Mrs. Agent, I advise you to be careful with your words."
The agent turned on him. "Who do you think you are talking to?"
Attorney Han’s tone hardened slightly. "Any further defamatory statements toward our client could result in legal action. Including harassment, coercion, and breach of fiduciary duty."
The word breach made the agent stiffen.
Her mouth opened, then closed.
She was shaking now.
"Wait here," she snapped suddenly. "All of you. Do not move."
She stormed out of the office, slamming the door behind her.
The moment she was gone, the room fell into silence again.
Min-ji exhaled slowly, her shoulders finally relaxing just a little.
"You alright?" Attorney Lee asked quietly.
"Yes," Min-ji replied with a rare smile. "Thank you."
Outside the office, the agent paced back and forth, her phone pressed tightly to her ear.
"Boss," she said urgently. "We have a problem."
"What problem?" the man on the other end asked.
"Dayo has gotten to Min-ji," she said. "She is here with lawyers. She wants to terminate the contract."
There was a brief pause.
"...What?"
"Yes," the agent said quickly. "Even after we offered her a contract upgrade, she refused. She brought lawyers."
Another pause, longer this time.
"Hold her there," the boss finally said. "I am coming."
The call ended.
The agent lowered her phone, her jaw clenched. She straightened her clothes and took a deep breath before turning back toward the office.
Her mind was going through different emotions and expression the change was crazy her mind as trying to understand what Dayo offered Min-ji to make her switch so fast.
The Min-ji she knew was smart and wouldn’t do something without though.
"Hmm Dayo what did you really offer Min-ji."
Inside, Minji remained seated, her posture calm.
The door opened again.
This time, the atmosphere shifted instantly.
The boss walked in.
He was a tall man in his late fifties, his presence commanding even without raising his voice. His sharp eyes swept across the room, landing first on the two lawyers, then on Minji.
"So," he said slowly, "this is how you choose to repay us."
Minji stood up.
"This is how I choose to protect myself," she replied.
The boss glanced at the lawyers. "How much?"
Attorney Han met his gaze. "We are prepared to proceed according to the termination clause stated in Section Eight of the contract."
The boss laughed quietly. "You came prepared."
"Yes," Attorney Han said. "We did."
The boss turned to the agent. "You were told not to let this happen."
The agent swallowed. "It is not my fault. She—"
"Enough," the boss cut in. "You are screwing this up and be ready to weather the storm that comes with this mess."
The agent looked like she has aged a decade the instance she heard the boss words.
He turned back to Minji. "Sit. Let us talk."
Minji did not sit.
"I am done talking," she said.
The boss studied her for a moment, then smiled faintly.
"Interesting," he murmured. "Very interesting."
He waved a hand. "Fine. We will proceed carefully."
He looked at the lawyers again. "Give us a week."
Attorney Han did not respond immediately.
The boss continued, "A week. Is too long we would settle it tomorrow no delay."
"Else we would push for selection 5 that say both parties shouldn’t stall when it comes for termination so do us the favour and sent the amount needed to pay and the right amount else..."
They said nothing after that and walked out.
For the first time since entering the building, she felt something shift.
The game had changed.
And everyone in the room knew it.
