Chapter 248: An offer for Min-Ji

Minji remained seated after Dayo finished explaining the offer.

She did not rush to stand up or speak. Instead, she sat quietly, her fingers lightly pressed together as she sorted through her thoughts. Dayo noticed this and did not interrupt her. Over the years, he had learned that important decisions needed silence before words.

After a short moment, Dayo spoke again.

"Speaking of which," he said calmly, "what are the details of your current contract?"

Minji looked up at him.

"You mean with VREX?"

"Yes," Dayo replied. "I need to know exactly what we are dealing with."

She nodded and took a slow breath.

"It is not a high level contract," she began. "It is a C level contract."

Dayo listened attentively.

"I signed a five year deal," Minji continued. "I have already spent a little over two years with them."

"So you have about three years left," Dayo said.

"Yes," she confirmed. "Three years."

Dayo leaned back slightly. "That is manageable."

Minji hesitated. "The penalty is not small, but it is not impossible either. Since I have not been given many roles, my valuation did not increase much."

"That works in our favor," Dayo said evenly.

She nodded. "They will not demand a ridiculous amount. Especially since they consider me replaceable."

There was no bitterness in her voice when she said it. It was simply the truth.

Dayo tapped the table lightly once as he thought.

"Alright," he said. "Tomorrow, my legal team will go to them. They will handle the negotiations."

Minji looked surprised. "Tomorrow?"

"Yes," he replied. "There is no reason to drag this out."

She swallowed. "If this really happens..."

"It will," Dayo said calmly.

She studied his face.

"You are sure?" she asked.

"I do not make promises I cannot keep," he replied.

Minji nodded slowly.

"Just be prepared," Dayo continued. "Things will not stay quiet once this starts. There will be pressure. Questions. Maybe threats."

She gave a faint smile. "I have been dealing with pressure for years."

Dayo stood up. "Good. Then prepare yourself. Once this is done, there is no turning back."

"I understand," Minji said.

They both stood.

There was a brief pause before Dayo extended his hand.

She hesitated for only a second before taking it.

Their handshake was firm.

After that, they parted ways.

Minji walked out of the restaurant with steady steps, though her heart was racing. The night air felt heavier than usual. Everything felt real now, not imagined or uncertain.

The next morning came faster than she expected.

Minji woke up early, even before her alarm rang. She lay in bed for a few minutes, staring at the ceiling and listening to the quiet hum of the city outside her window.

Today would decide a lot.

She got ready slowly, choosing simple clothes. Nothing flashy. Nothing dramatic. She did not want attention, even though she knew attention would find her anyway.

When she arrived at the agency building, the atmosphere felt different immediately.

The moment she stepped inside, she felt it.

The looks.

Staff members glanced at her longer than usual. Conversations stopped when she passed. Some people pretended to be busy, while others stared openly.

She walked forward without lowering her head.

As she moved deeper into the building, the whispers became more noticeable.

She did not need to hear the words to understand what they meant.

Everyone knew something was happening.

Some looked curious.

Some looked judgmental.

Some looked uneasy.

Minji kept walking.

Her expression remained calm, but her mind was racing. She wondered if Dayo’s team had already arrived. She wondered if her agent knew what was coming. She wondered how far the agency would go to keep control.

She stopped briefly in front of the elevator.

As the doors closed, she caught her reflection in the mirrored surface.

She looked tired.

But she also looked determined.

Whatever happened next, she knew one thing clearly.

She was done waiting.

And this time, she would make the choice herself.

She took a deep breath and walked into her agent’s office, expecting to see a room full of lawyers.

Instead—

She saw her agent standing there, wearing a smug expression.

"Ah, you have finally arrived, Minji. I have been waiting for you," the agent said as she stepped forward, reaching out.

Minji immediately took a step back, avoiding her hand. "Yes, I am here as requested. And please avoid any form of familiarity. You lost that privilege."

Her voice was cold, her gaze sharp.

The agent froze, shock and embarrassment flashing across her face. Her expression twitched.

"You ungrateful soul," the agent snapped. "You do not even know why I called you, yet you are behaving like you are some big star."

Minji said nothing.

Seeing she got no response, the agent forced herself to calm down, though the look on her face showed the issue was far from over.

She took a deep breath and spoke again. "The reason I called you here is because the agency has recognized your value and decided to upgrade your contract."

She smiled smugly, clearly expecting excitement or gratitude.

But—

Nothing.

Not a single change crossed Minji’s face. She simply stared back with the same cold gaze.

The agent frowned. "Did you not hear what I just said?"

"Of course I did," Minji replied flatly. "So what do you expect me to do? Jump around in excitement?"

The agent was stunned.

She remembered clearly how Minji used to complain about her contract, how she once said that an upgrade was all she wanted.

And now, she showed no reaction at all.

The agent narrowed her eyes.

"So," she said with a forced smile, "are you signing, or should I report that you are rejecting the offer?"

"No," Minji said calmly.

But her mind quickly filled the missing piece so that was why she was been stared at they though she got the contract upgrade because Dayo offered a role.

The agent smirked. "No what? You want me to return it?"

"No," Minji replied. "I am not signing."

"WHAT?"
