Flip the Coin [BL]-Chapter 352. Daddy is back
Not even a minute later, the changes in Jeyjey were clear for everyone to see.
Her pupils dilated, her face relaxed, and her body did so as well, and a tranquil smile played around her lips while she let her eyes wander around.
I was fucking surprised. The way she had acted when she saw the injection, I thought taking the DMT would be horrifying, but she looked as if she were in a good place, a place where she wanted to be.
But... she did just that, even minutes later: unsteadily looking around as if she were seeing things we weren’t able to see—which would probably be warranted when seeing the fine lines.
However...
"It’s the first time she has taken DMT in front of you guys?" I asked Ethan, and he nodded while observing Jeyjey.
Everyone stared at her, but not a fucking thing was happening.
What the fuck would it help for her to see the lines around her when she was too high to open a portal??
I took a step toward her, still carrying Henry, and thought of the giant.
And I thought of Henrietta, how she always envisioned the place where she wanted the other end of the portal to be.
I bent forward and whispered in her ear.
"Jeyjey, can you hear me?"
She nodded dreamily, looking at me with a serene smile.
"See the lines in the air? Like marble or folded wings? Carefully touch them; they like you, and you like them, don’t you?"
No idea if the drug made her easily influenced, but she really raised her arm and softly moved her fingertips as if she were really touching something.
"Think of the commander; the poor guy wants to get back to his family. He has adorable kids, and they miss him desperately. His world is right behind the wings."
It wouldn’t hurt to give it a try.
She nodded again, her fingertips moving in the air.
"Don’t hurt the wings; just help them unfold slowly and carefully." I murmured in her ear, again feeling a soft rush of adrenaline as I had felt when controlling Henry’s body.
I licked my lips and saw her act on each of my words, and that made me smile in satisfaction.
Yet I wasn’t on my own power trip long, because Henry’s hold on me tightened to the point that it pulled me back into the present.
I squeezed Henry’s thighs, telling him that I was fine.
Jeyjey’s hands moved in the air as if she grabbed something, as if she was raising something, as if she was slowly pulling back something; she always acted with care and tranquility in each step.
I didn’t rush her; from what I remembered, a DMT trip usually lasted about forty-five minutes, so we had a bit of time.
It was fascinating to see and experience the correct method of opening portals from up so close.
The giant’s memories had been etched so vividly in my brain, only then to be glazed over by the crystalline counterpart; I couldn’t really remember that much.
And as for Henrietta, she didn’t really see the lines; she just worked with a feeling, with borrowed power from blood or her dead counterparts.
Maybe it was because of that, or maybe it was only her style, but the way she opened and closed portals had been like pulling up and down a zipper.
Jeyjey did not borrow power, I think. The DMT was an enchantment, but they should have done something in the center to let her see the lines. The DMT served as 3D glasses, but something fundamental should have changed inside her to be even able to reach the movie screen.
Because—not everyone, or better said NO ONE, on DMT had seen the lines before. The trips I had read about told of people visiting another reality, meeting other species, etc., but not themselves opening a portal—if they had, surely someone would have noticed, especially during the supervised DMT studies.
So my theory of now is that DMT lets you either see alternative realities, or it sends you on a good trip/an absolute horror trip that can introduce you to a nice psychosis.
But it doesn’t let you cross with your body.
Jeyjey had been inside the center for at least a year, probably taking part in the studies the whole time, and the fact that she was able to see the lines and was able to touch them meant some of the experiments inside the center have worked.
It made her much more valuable—it was way better if we had someone that could close portals systematically and with caution than with force and guessing.
Anyway, I watched her, as did everybody else, and soon I felt the hair on my arms stand and knew this was the real deal.
The air changed, and the sound of a lock springing open was heard, so loud it was deafening.
The commander handed the child over to Jordan, who had put Danny down, and stepped closer to me.
However, it seemed more as if the commander came to fight whatever would cross instead of getting ready to go home.
He took out a gun and pointed it at the portal that had opened but looked just like a slightly distorted spot in the air.
I could see, when looking at the portal, that the size changed; it didn’t appear as if it would stay open very long.
Time to check if that was even the commander’s world.
While holding on to Henry’s thighs, I flipped the coin, caught it, and slammed it on the back of my other hand to then reveal it while thinking of the sole timeline that I wanted to see: What if the commander crosses this portal?
Black, the future of Henry’s closest counterpart, eyes and ears uncovered.
I stand inside a corridor, and when I look to my side, I don’t see the commander.
The next moment, he appears in the corridor with a stumble and falls face-first on the ground, the gun still in his hand.
"DAMN YOU!!" He yells, and we both hear steps at the end of the corridor.
The commander looks around before speedily putting his gun away.
"HONEY?" A woman screams; I remember her voice from my first vision of the commander.
The woman finally reaches the corner and enters the corridor with a little boy in her arms, who raises his arm awkwardly as if he were trying to box something.
"Meehaaaa!!!"
"Is that...Daddy?" A little girl peeks around the corner before she hides behind her mother, who still looks unmovingly at the commander.
The commander’s annoyed face mellows down instantly as he raises his body from the floor and crouches down, spreading his arms with a wide grin.
"Daddy is back."
I snapped my eyes open and smiled involuntarily, hearing the commander speaking.
"We don’t know if that is even my world. And even if it is, I can go another time. I can’t just leave here when we finally found them both. And what about the Rats? You will need my help."
Oh boy, that motherfucker got cold feet, probably because he couldn’t know how much time had passed in his world and if his family was still alive.
I just wanted to deliver the good news of a happy ending waiting on the other side of the portal when the one on my back acted out first.
No idea if that fucker had a bad dream, experienced a timely cramp, or if other—much darker—circumstances caused one of his legs, attached to one of the thighs I still held, to suddenly jerk.
With plenty of speed, force, and accuracy, Henry kicked the commander in his lower back, sending him through the portal and, ultimately, home.
