Flash Marriage: Pampered by Mr.Bigshot-Chapter 493 - 492 Uncle, I’ll be good to you
"He hasn’t had a girlfriend for seven years? Could it be that guy has had his sights set on little Rabina this whole time?"
"I should introduce you to Charles Northwood sometime. I’m sure you’ll find him quite likeable." He was such a gentle person; he could be friends with anyone.
"Is he better, or am I better?" Suddenly, Maxwell Peary interrupted Nia Mitchell’s endless chatter.
"Err, Uncle...?"
What kind of question is Uncle asking? Nia wondered. Why would he ask something like that when I was in the middle of talking?
"Speak." Maxwell’s expression had changed slightly; he looked at Nia with a serious face.
"Err, how am I supposed to answer this?" It’s too embarrassing. Besides, they’re not comparable at all.
"Tell the truth." Maxwell’s expression had returned to normal, devoid of any warmth.
"It’s really impossible to compare." Nia stood awkwardly to the side. Charles had his good points, and Maxwell had his.
"Speak." Maxwell’s face darkened. This little Rabina! Even if she were just trying to placate me, that would be something! Why is she still hesitating? Seeing her like this, he felt his teeth itch with frustration.
"Fine, I’ll speak." Nia pouted, irked. She put down her tiny fists and stood to one side.
"Charles is very considerate and very gentle. He always considers whether others will accept what he does. And he treats me especially well; he’s never yelled at me and always lets me have my way."
Seven years held many memories, all featuring Charles Northwood’s gentle, smiling face. Her mind was filled with the image of his smile. Maxwell, however, was not like that.
The more Maxwell listened, the darker his face became, until it looked ashen like the bottom of a pot. I really brought this on myself by asking such a question, he thought.
"But Uncle, you have your good points too," Nia continued. "You take care of me. Although you sometimes force me to do things I don’t want to, that’s also a way you show you care for me. And you cherish me. Even though I can be stubborn sometimes, you still go along with me."
Maxwell was the kind of person who would berate you with a stern face, then silently support you. For example, he might adamantly reject your request, making you very unhappy, but in the end, he would still do what you wanted. He was always doing thankless tasks.
Maxwell was taken aback, surprised that she, despite her young age, could see this side of him.
He reached out, pulled her onto his lap, leaned in, and gave her a kiss.
Nia beamed, using her finger to poke Maxwell’s cheek. "Uncle, I will be good to you," she said, her eyes sparkling.
Maxwell found it amusing. Weren’t those my lines to say to her?
"What do you want for lunch? I’ll get the butler to send it over."
Nia’s eyes twinkled as she looked mischievously at Maxwell. "Can we go out to eat? Let’s have steak."
The two had agreed to go to a Western restaurant earlier, but it had been delayed. Today at noon, they finally had some free time.
"Alright, then Mr. Peary will accompany Mrs. Peary for a Western meal."
"Does Mr. Peary feel honored?"
"Exceedingly honored."
A smile touched Maxwell’s eyes. Just as he was about to say something more, there was a sudden knock on the door.
Nia’s eyes widened. She quickly stood up and ran to the side. Just as she stopped, Sophia Moore pushed open the door, walking in with a cup of coffee and a bright smile.
