Chapter 1014: 1013 Worried
“Mo Xiuchen, I don’t really want to eat anything, you don’t have to go to the trouble of cooking anymore.”
Wen Ran pursed her lips and spoke gently.
Right now, she had no appetite, especially after having thrown up earlier, she felt even less inclined to eat.
“But that won’t do, you can’t just not eat anything, I’ll call Ah Kai.” Although Mo Xiuchen knew some common sense, he really didn’t understand this kind of specialized problem.
Especially when it involved Wen Ran, his intelligence always seemed to drop.
“Mo Xiuchen, my brother isn’t a gynecologist, don’t ask him, let’s go out and continue with breakfast.” Wen Ran grabbed Mo Xiuchen’s hand, stopping him from taking out his phone.
Mo Xiuchen looked into her clear and calm eyes, hesitated for a moment, then cracked a slight smile, “Okay, we’ll continue with breakfast, and if you still can’t eat, I’ll call and ask a doctor.”
They returned to the dining table.
Nanny Zhang brought over a dish of pickled vegetables, saying cheerfully, “Young Master, Young Mistress can’t eat much right now, so it might be good to eat something sour.”
The smell of the pickled vegetables was truly inviting.
Especially for Wen Ran at the moment, she was a bit surprised as she asked, “Nanny Zhang, don’t we usually not have pickled vegetables at home?”
Indeed, they normally didn’t keep pickled vegetables in the house.
Nanny Zhang chuckled and explained, “Little Liu just went out to buy these. Seeing you eat so little last night, I had Little Liu go out to buy some pickled vegetables this morning. Try some, Young Mistress.”
Wen Ran nodded, the pickled vegetables smelled quite good to her, so she took a bit and fed it into her mouth.
Both Mo Xiuchen and Nanny Zhang watched her intently, particularly Mo Xiuchen, whose handsome face was etched with concern, but his eyes sparkled with hope.
Wen Ran swallowed the pickled vegetables and a trace of a smile appeared on her face, “Nanny Zhang, it’s delicious.” After speaking, she looked at Mo Xiuchen, whose face immediately burst into a captivating smile upon hearing her say it was tasty.
“If it’s tasty, eat more of it,” Nanny Zhang advised happily.
After speaking, she left the dining room, not wanting to disturb their meal.

“Ranran, if you like it, eat a bit more, but you should also have some egg,” Mo Xiuchen suggested, his eyes smiling as they swept over the breakfast on the table, “Would you like some milk?”
Wen Ran looked at the milk he offered her and shook her head rejecting, “I don’t feel like drinking it.”
“That’s okay, then you have some porridge, I’ll peel an egg for you,” Mo Xiuchen said, picking up an egg and peeling it for her.
Wen Ran took another bite of pickled vegetables and followed it with a spoonful of porridge.
But when Mo Xiuchen brought the peeled egg to her mouth, she smelled it and immediately felt her stomach churn. Her face turned, she tried to hold it back, but after a couple of seconds stood up and rushed into the washroom.
Mo Xiuchen’s handsome features tensed, he called out ‘Ranran’, dropped the egg, and followed her into the washroom.
“Ranran, I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have let you eat the egg,” he said, his heart ached as he watched her turn pale from vomiting, filled with self-reproach.
Wen Ran had thrown up the little bit of porridge she had eaten as well.
“How can I blame you for this.” Wen Ran forced a smile on her face and lightly said, “I’m okay, it’s just a phase of pregnancy, it will pass after a while.”
“No way, I’ll accompany you to the hospital later to ask the doctor,” Mo Xiuchen insisted, his expression earnest and voice filled with worry.
Wen Ran shook her head, “Mo Xiuchen, I’m not hungry right now, I’ll eat when I get hungry. You go have your breakfast then go to work, I can ask Qing Feng and Qing Yang to accompany me to the hospital.”
Seeing Mo Xiuchen frown, Wen Ran explained further, “You’ve already spent so much time with me, it wouldn’t look good if you don’t go to the company now. Mo Xiuchen, I promise, as soon as I feel hungry, I’ll eat something, okay?”
“Alright.”
Mo Xiuchen agreed reluctantly.
After breakfast, Mo Xiuchen went to the office.
Wen Ran, not wanting to eat, didn’t have anything more.
At nine in the morning, Li Qian and Zhou Lin, bringing their children, came to find Wen Ran and spent the whole day with her. In the afternoon, Mo Xiuchen called back, concerned about Wen Ran’s condition.
Hearing that she had eaten a little, he was relieved.
In the evening, Mo Xiuchen brought home desserts that Wen Ran liked, but because he had a social engagement, he didn’t join her for dinner.
As the morning sickness was quite severe, Wen Ran suggested resting at home and would go to the office to accompany Mo Xiuchen after some time.
Hence, for a long while after, Wen Ran was idling at home, hanging out every day with Zhou Lin, Li Qian, and others. She had called Bai Yiyi twice—perhaps she was being overly sensitive—
but she felt Bai Yiyi was not as close as before, rather there was a faint estrangement and politeness.
That weekend, while out on a spring outing to enjoy the flowers with Mo Xiuchen, Wen Ran received a call from Bai Yiyi.
“Ranran, I’m leaving G City tomorrow.”
“Leaving G City?” Wen Ran, standing under a cluster of cherry blossoms with a radiant smile, stiffened slightly upon hearing Bai Yiyi’s words and asked in confusion, “Yiyi, why are you leaving G City? Where are you going?”
“I’m returning to my previous city. Tongtong has grown up; once back, I plan to look for a job.”
Bai Yiyi’s voice came through calmly. Initially, she had wanted to stay in this city. But after that confrontation with Gu Kai, she had been feeling uneasy for these two months.
Even if Gu Kai had not sought her out since then, Li En repeatedly asked who Tongtong’s biological father was.
After much thought, she decided to leave.
“Yiyi, I never asked you before, what do you do for work?”
Wen Ran caught a falling cherry blossom petal, held it to her nose, and then listened to Bai Yiyi on the phone saying, “I used to work as a personal assistant.”
“Personal assistant, Yiyi, why don’t you come work at my brother’s company? He’s in need of a secretary and has been unable to find the right fit.”
Wen Ran’s eyes lit up, remembering how, since Sister Li resigned, her brother had been frequently changing secretaries.
There had been three or four in just one year.
“Wen’s Pharmaceutical Factory?” Bai Yiyi’s heart skipped a beat upon hearing Wen Ran mention her brother.
Wen Ran smiled and said, “Yes, the pharmaceutical factory. Don’t tell me you thought I was talking about Kangning Hospital?”
“Ranran, I don’t want to stay in G City,” Bai Yiyi said, somewhat troubled and hesitant.
If Gu Kai had not confronted her, she would have stayed, not just because she really liked the city. Even if Tongtong couldn’t recognize her father, she could at least get close to her aunt.
Wen Ran, puzzled, asked, “Yiyi, why?”
After a pause, with no response from the other end, Wen Ran’s tone became cheerful again, “G City is so nice, just stay here. It will be good for Tongtong’s future. If you’re worried about no one caring for Tongtong, you can bring your aunt to G City to help you take care of her.”
Wen Ran had heard from Bai Yiyi before that her mother was also originally from G City.
Moreover, Fu Jingyi had mentioned that Bai Yiyi’s mother had been deeply in love with him, and Fu Jingyi was now buried in G City. She thought, since G City was their hometown, why bother moving to another city?
