First Legendary Dragon: Starting With The Limitless System-Chapter 62: Eyes of Revelation
Chapter 62: Eyes of Revelation
"Now, this is more like it," Orion murmured with excitement as they entered the heart of the marketplace, seeing countless colorful stalls and elegant shopfronts lining both sides of the streets. "This is what a truly lively place looks like. And I feel like I might really find a good deal here."
Edgar smiled knowingly. "Indeed, Young Master. The Central Marketplace is where treasures and mysteries of the entire kingdom gather. There might be trash hiding beneath a treasure."
"...You mean treasure hiding beneath trash?" Orion looked at him speechlessly.
"Cough," he coughed quickly to hide his embarrassment, "As I was saying, if one has a good eye, then it’s not hard for them to find treasures here for a cheap price."
Lucan soon brought the carriage to a halt near the market’s entrance. "Alright, Young Master, go wild. If you need any help, just shout for me," he joked playfully.
"Yes, yes, the negotiator Lucan will help me in the market." Orion chuckled and shook his head.
"Cough, looks like I will need to look after the carriage, Young Master. Hope Sir Edgar won’t let you get scammed here." Edgar stood below the carriage, bowing slightly and motioning with his hands towards the marketplace.
Orion’s lips twitched. "You were all talk in the end, huh?" He shook his head and descended the carriage with Edgar.
"Looks like it’s only us now, Uncle Edgar." He smiled and walked at the front.
Edgar softly chuckled and followed after him.
They soon stepped into the lively marketplace, looking across the myriad stalls in all directions. Edgar followed behind like a bodyguard while Orion took in the lively atmosphere of the market.
"This place is truly prospering. So many people, so many races, so many treasures." He breathed in the mana-rich air of the market.
Edgar nodded his head. "Indeed. Let’s go and look around now, Young Master."
Both of them headed into the lively market, their eyes scanning the various stalls. Edgar followed closely behind Orion, offering advice occasionally but largely leaving Orion free to explore at his own pace.
’Fuck, it would take forever to even find a decent piece of trash.’
[That’s the true grinder’s path, Master! You can do it!\(^▽^)/]
’Fuck that, let me try something,’ he inwardly said before closing his eyes briefly.
Just as he opened his eyes, the world around him lost color for a split second before everything returned to normal. However, now, there were tiny invisible runes floating atop his eyes.
’Eyes of Revelation, let’s see if you can do the job,’ he softly whispered.
Orion activated his Eye of Revelation discreetly and immediately, he could sense vague auras emanating from nearby items—each aura representing the treasure’s rank.
He quickly realized his limitations—the stronger auras from items above the third tier were indistinct or barely readable, while those at the seventh tier or higher seemed utterly incomprehensible, only revealing vague hints of immense power.
’Well... this is good enough. I didn’t expect I could see the ranks of treasures in such a large area at once.’ Orion nodded to himself, pleased with the capability of the ability.
’I should be able to look at clean details of treasures below Seventh Grade if I focus on one, I think. That’s good enough for me for now.’
He decided to inspect the ability later and chose to focus on the treasures he could see. Walking leisurely along the stalls, his gaze moved from one stall to another before stopping on a small stall nearly hidden on one side of the road between big stalls.
An elderly vendor sat calmly behind the stall, which displayed an assortment of dusty relics, small trinkets, and unremarkable-looking gems.
Curious, Orion briskly approached, scanning each item with his Eye of Revelation. Most items were ordinary, but suddenly his gaze stopped on a small, smooth black stone resting in a wooden box.
[Abyssal Shadow Stone (Tier 3)
Description: A stone containing faint traces of Darkness and Shadow elemental energy, useful for training or refining in darkness or shadow element.]
Orion eyed the treasure with an interested gaze, which the vendor clearly noticed.
"Cough, Young Master, are you looking for some treasure? Worry not, for I have all the real goods here. You can even find a hidden treasure here," the old vendor rubbed his palms and said excitedly.
Orion raised his head and calmly looked at the old vendor. He wore shabby clothes and had wrinkles all over his face.
"How much for this black stone, Old Man?" he softly asked the vendor.
The vendor excitedly nodded his head. "Yes, Young Master, I found this stone in the ruins of a city. I had a lot of difficulties excavating it. Even the bandits tried to ro—"
"How much for it?" Orion asked again, knowing full well if he allowed the old man to speak, he wouldn’t stop.
"Cough, since you are the first customer of the day, I will give it to you for 30 Lesser Grade Mana Crystals." The old man looked towards Orion with hopeful eyes.
Orion raised an eyebrow. ’Does he not know it’s a Tier 3 Darkness and Shadow affinity stone? Usually, they go for hundreds of Lesser Grade Crystals.’
Orion nodded his head. "Give him 50 Lesser Grade Crystals, Uncle Edgar," he said before picking up the Elemental Mana stone.
Edgar paid the money without asking anything, while the old vendor couldn’t help but want to dance with joy. That alone could feed him and his family for months—or even years—if they knew how to properly save money.
Orion didn’t linger and moved forward.
"You made a good deal, Young Master. A Shadow Affinity Mana Stone can fetch hundreds of Lesser Grade Mana Crystals in the market," Edgar said, stroking his beard happily. "But why did you give him more than what he asked for?"
Orion looked at the Mana Crystal in his hand. "That was a minuscule amount to me, and I would feel bad for scamming the old man. That’s why I gave him a little more."
Edgar nodded his head proudly but still asked with a knowing smile, "Then why didn’t you give him the full price of the Mana Stone?"
He chuckled. "That would bring unnecessary danger to him. Who knows, someone might eye his little wealth."
Edgar laughed and nodded his head. "Very good observation, Young Master. There might be strict rules in the Capital, but there are still desperate fucks who won’t heed the rules."
They both chatted while walking until Orion spotted another intriguing stall, where a cheerful young woman was energetically selling various ornamental artifacts.
His gaze locked onto a bracelet with faint runic inscriptions.
[Bracelet of Minor Fortitude (Tier 3)
Description: Slightly enhances the wearer’s stamina and physical endurance. Ideal for early-stage training.]
"Excuse me, what’s this bracelet?" He approached the stall and asked the young woman.
"Oh, that bracelet?" She turned around and looked at Orion before professionally explaining its usage. "It’s a magic equipment to boost your stamina and endurance. You can work for three days and three nights straight after wearing it." At the end of her words, she winked mischievously.
Orion chuckled. "So, how much for it?"
