Falling into Her Trap: Don't Cross the Line, Mr. President-Chapter 144: So This Is the New Man You Found?
The slap was loud and crisp, instantly making Claire Shaw and Owen Crawford the focal point of the room.
Mia Hughes was dumbfounded. In her memory, Claire was someone with a temperament as calm as a chrysanthemum, unchanging even in the face of a major crisis.
Even when she broke up with Owen, she was graceful, never whining about her ex like a bitter woman.
But this graceful woman actually slapped Owen twice in such a setting, goodness! Has Claire lost her mind?
Owen was nearly stunned into a stupor, "Claire, are you fucking looking for a fight..."
He was momentarily dazed, raising his hand instinctively to hit Claire’s face.
Before he could touch Claire, a large hand had gripped his wrist.
Owen was about six feet tall, but the newcomer stood even taller at six foot three, burly and imposing, exuding an overwhelming presence.
"Try laying a finger on Ms. Shaw." Normally respectful and courteous in front of Claire, Wyatt was now radiating full authority.
Last time, Owen only saw a blurry silhouette and didn’t see the man’s face, mistakenly assuming Wyatt was Claire’s boyfriend.
He was tall and his looks were just average.
Owen’s first reaction wasn’t being grabbed but rather comparing himself to Wyatt.
The other was dressed in simple cotton T-shirts and sweatpants, nothing branded.
This filled him with strong arrogance, sneering, "Is this your new man? Like a flower stuck in manure."
Meanwhile, in the Blackwood Group’s CEO office.
At Ethan Blackwood’s desk was a thick stack of documents. The "manure" engrossed in work suddenly sneezed.
Finn Pierce paused his report, "Is it too cold? I’ll turn it up."
"It’s fine, go on." Ethan rubbed his nose. With a body fit as iron, it was strange. Is someone cursing him?
Back at the mall, Claire Shaw had slapped Owen and glared fiercely at him, "A scumbag like you, even a glance is dirty."
Thinking about Owen’s role-play fantasies with Yasmin Yorke made Claire feel utterly disgusted.
With her belly bulging, Yvonne Crawford yelled for security to stop Claire, while Wyatt shielded her from Owen and his group.
Claire took Mia Hughes’s hand and left without looking back.
Mia, eyes sparkling, looked at Claire, "That was awesome, such a scumbag, even I felt like hitting him."
Claire didn’t tell her about Owen’s disgusting deeds behind the scenes, "Mia, stay away from that man, he’s no good."
"Okay, but Claire, who was that tall guy earlier? Not your boyfriend, is he?"
Claire smiled, "No, just a friend."
Mia stared at her, "Why do I feel you have so many secrets? Why don’t you tell me anything?"
Sometimes, knowing too much isn’t beneficial. Just like Owen Brawford, even after breaking up, it was Mia who cursed him for ages.
Claire was used to keeping a low profile. Until things with Ethan stabilized, she didn’t plan to go public.
She brushed it off with a few words and took Mia shopping at several luxury brands.
After a day, the wound on her foot ached faintly.
Having just parted with Mia, Claire was waiting by the roadside for Leo to drive over, not expecting a black Audi to stop in front of her.
The window rolled down, revealing Ethan Blackwood’s incredibly handsome face.
Claire was all smiles, "Ethan, how come? Aren’t you busy?"
She opened the door and got into the passenger seat. Ethan handed her a cup of milk tea and ruffled her hair, "Picking up my girlfriend, no need for a reason."
Claire, full of sweetness, kissed him on the cheek.
This scene was caught by Mia Hughes, who had deliberately returned. Even as the car drove away, she was left standing there, confused.
What did she just see!!!
Claire kissed Ethan Blackwood?
Wasn’t this like the Earth kissing the Moon?
Claire, with her strawberry drink, looked more vibrantly girlish by the second.
"Ethan, what’s for dinner tonight?"
"Going to my big brother’s place, they’ll prepare."
Claire almost bit her tongue, "Is it today?"
She remembered there were two more days left, could Ethan already know what happened today?
The lines of the man’s profile were tight; his voice was calm and indifferent, "Yes, it’s today."
He concealed it well, yet Claire still sensed his displeasure.
Mr. Blackwood was upset.
Clearly, Wyatt must have relayed everything to him.
Claire reached out to poke Ethan’s puffed cheeks, "Mr. Blackwood, don’t be angry. I’m not upset and I slapped him hard twice."
Seeing a red light ahead, Claire handed over her drink, "Try it, it’s pretty good."
Ethan braked and turned to her, "Is it sweet?"
Claire nodded, "It’s okay, sweet and a bit sour..."
He leaned in, taking her chin in a firm, domineering kiss.
The sweet and sour strawberry mixed with rich cheese spread gently through their lips, leaving Claire intoxicated by his kiss.
With three seconds to go, Ethan released her, gazing at her rosy cheeks, his voice lazily magnetic, "Not sour, especially sweet."
He hit the gas in the final second.
Claire watched the suit-clad man, her heart racing. This man was truly captivating.
"Ethan, the rain has stopped and the Lotara flowers are blooming beautifully, accompany me to enjoy the lotuses?"
Ethan, fully understanding her thoughts, replied in a husky voice, "...Sure."
Claire’s mind was preoccupied with thoughts of the evening, unaware when the car arrived at a villa.
At that moment, Elliot Blackwood’s household was in a frenzy. Although he was more than a decade older than Ethan, he still dreaded his taciturn cousin.
Grown under adulation and adversity alike.
With means, background, and cunning, within the Blackwood Family, he had nearly replaced the patriarch’s position.
He announced the dinner moved to today, setting the household into motion, urgently retrieving Yvonne Crawford, repeatedly instructing, "My cousin speaks little, so don’t talk nonsense. Focus on his girlfriend; tonight’s the key to success."
"Yes, Uncle, I got it. I’ve prepared the gifts." Owen Crawford replied.
As the black Audi pulled into the courtyard, everyone was dumbstruck.
They knew Ethan Blackwood kept a low profile, but didn’t expect him to drive a car worth only tens of thousands!
Owen was the first to open the passenger door, wearing a respectful smile, "Tough journey..." 𝗳𝗿𝐞𝕖𝘄𝗲𝕓𝗻𝚘𝚟𝕖𝐥.𝚌𝕠𝕞
His smile froze instantly when he saw Claire’s face.
