This Giant Dragon is So Powerful!-Chapter 67 - 66: Clouds of War
Leanna was moved.
Enthralled by the future prospects depicted by Udi.
She tried to imagine what life would be like after subjugating this Wild Dwarf clan and then realized.
The Wild Dwarf clan must be conquered by her!
As for the Black Teeth Tribe that was slaughtered by the Wild Dwarves?
Mere cannon fodder, dead as they are. Apart from the high-level Dragon Vein Kobold Mage who was captured, none of the other kobolds interested Leanna at all; to her, they were nothing more than a pile of worthless cannon fodder, which she could gather again in large numbers within a year.
And a year is too short for a giant dragon. For humans, it would be merely a few days.
"Let’s go, let’s go now!" Leanna was slightly impatient, indicating to her dear son to quickly lead the way.
Udi naturally agreed but also sincerely suggested,
"Mother, there’s no need to rush; those Wild Dwarves are unwilling to abandon their lair, whether we go sooner or later, they’ll be there. Now, you should also gather your followers under your command, and let them charge for you, reducing your exertion."
"Don’t consider your mother as those brainless Red Dragons, I have already ordered the cannon fodder to assemble." Leanna glanced at her eldest son, her tone carrying a hint of displeasure.
Seeing this, Udi immediately praised his vain mother a few times, at which point Leanna’s expression relaxed, and she looked proud and satisfied.
If the compliments came from a Goblin Dogman, Leanna might reward them with a breath of dragon fire, reducing them to a puddle of acidic green bubbles.
However, if it was her exceptionally talented and abnormal Black Dragon eldest son flattering her, looking up to her with respect, she naturally felt happy and delighted.
A moment later, Udi saw the assembled army of followers under Leanna’s command.
Over a thousand kobolds, more than two thousand goblins, and over two hundred giant demons, among which the kobolds were all ordinary kobolds, and among the goblins, there were dozens of Big Goblins, while the giant demons were mostly Forest Giant Demons, with a smaller number of Swamp and Gray Giant Demons.
The number of monster followers differed from what Udi had previously understood. Earlier, he estimated that the total followers under the Black Dragon Maiden’s three major tribes could only amount to around fifteen hundred, yet after the Black Teeth Tribe’s annihilation, a monster army of about four thousand could still be mustered. (Leanna and Udi mentioned something about the elimination of the Black Teeth Tribe)
However, Udi quickly figured out the reason behind this.
Firstly, the three major tribes: Black Teeth, Savage Bone, and Beast Heart, combined should indeed total around fifteen hundred and not much more.
As for these additional monster followers, they must be those who had dispersed to form individual micro to small-sized tribes, and now, at the call of the Queen of Darkness, they naturally obey the order and gather together.
Without large-scale livestock farming or grain cultivation, the gathering of a large-scale monster population would inevitably face starvation, leading to their deaths, their bodies then consumed by their companions. Rather than letting this happen, once the population reaches a tribal limit, it’s better to disperse a portion of it.
It can both expand the territory and save food, a win-win situation.
With the gathering of monster followers complete, Udi unhesitatingly took the lead.
.....
High above in the sky, Udi and Leanna flew amidst the white clouds, arriving at the Brown Forest Clan’s old nest valley ahead of the monster army.
After arriving, the two black dragons coldly watched the valley below, waiting silently for the monster army’s arrival.
With cannon fodder to scout the way and exhaust the enemy’s strength, neither Udi nor Leanna would hesitate to expend or lose followers.
After waiting for a full half-day, the monster army finally arrived.
This pace was already not slow for a monster army with uneven strength. After all, traversing mountains and ridges over a few hundred kilometers is possible only due to the robust endurance granted by their monstrous constitutions. When hungry, they nibble on bark to stave off hunger, and at a waterhole, brook, or small river, a sip quickly revitalizes them, requiring minimal sustenance.
Had it been an ordinary human army, it might not even have arrived in two days.
When the monster army was still a kilometer away from the Brown Forest Clan’s old nest, Leanna ordered it to halt for an hour’s rest to recover strength.
Though extremely confident in her strength, Leanna couldn’t underestimate the Wild Dwarf tribe, whose lineage extends far back and is not weak.
While treating the followers as mere cannon fodder, even cannon fodder must fulfill its intended role, rather than merely being sent to die meaninglessly.
....
"Shaman, Chief, a large number of monster warriors are gathering outside."
With an army of over four thousand monsters gathering, even at a distance, the Brown Forest Clan, already nervous and having sent scouts, undoubtedly noticed.
Information even reached the upper echelons of the Brown Forest Clan when the monster army was still tens of kilometers away.
Slytherin and Luz exchanged glances and then looked toward the dozen or so clan leaders in the hall, extremely serious in demeanor,
"Proceed according to the plan we just formulated!"
"At your command, Shaman, Chief!" The high-level professional Wild Dwarves responded with unwavering determination.
The old, weak, women, and children among the Wild Dwarves had already been moved through tunnels; in this battle, they could fight without worrying and with all their strength!
....
Outside the valley, with an exhilarating dragon’s roar, the monstrous army of thousands roared in unison, charging into the tall and wide cavern.
Leading the charge were over a hundred giant demons standing three to four meters tall, rugged and immensely strong, clad in heavy vine armor a finger thick, tougher than steel; besides acid and flames, these giant demons were almost impossible to kill, making them the best frontline unit.
On the other side of the valley, the battle-ready Wild Dwarf army roared back, launching an attack against the monster army.
First came a wave of thrown spears and flying axes, numerous long-ranged attacks turning the foremost rows of giant demon warriors into pincushions. Yet even so, unless their legs were severed, these giant demon warriors continued running forward, wildly, with roars, as the intense pain from their wounds only served to enrage them further.
Soon, hand-to-hand combat ensued.
Blood splattered, and Wild Dwarves as well as monster warriors fell, never to rise.
Compared to the more disciplined Wild Dwarves mostly at levels 3 to 4, the monster army’s general strength only hovered around levels 1 or even 0, suffering heavy casualties.
If not for the hundreds of Big Goblin Warriors and Giant Demon Warriors as the backbone of resistance, the ordinary kobolds and goblins, regardless of their numbers, would fall like harvested wheat.
A towering forest giant demon, five meters tall, wearing vine heavy armor, roaring like a giant, swung a giant wolf fang club, measuring four and a half meters long, smashing several Wild Dwarves into minced meat, then continued charging forward, swinging its massive wolf fang club to cruelly kill another dozen Wild Dwarves, unambiguously showcasing its terrifying power.
