Extra's Path: The Eternal Frost Monarch-Chapter 12: Novaris Academy
Noah entered the academy gate after displaying his admission documents on his mobile. A soft beam of pale blue light swept over his body from head to toe, scanning him in seconds.
A quiet chime followed.
"Identity verified."
He didn’t think much of it and stepped inside.
The campus was massive, stretching far beyond what he had imagined. Beneath his feet lay a wide cobblestone path, each stone evenly cut and polished, looking almost new. The path was spotless, as if it were cleaned every hour.
On both sides spread lush green lawns, trimmed perfectly. Decorative trees lined the walkway at regular intervals, their branches swaying gently in the breeze. Beds of colorful flowers added brightness to the scenery.
It felt more like a royal garden than an academy.
As he walked further, a grand fountain came into view.
It stood at the center of a circular plaza. The structure was carved from white stone, layered in three tiers. From the very top, a column of water shot upward before cascading down into the second tier, then flowing in smooth streams into the wide basin below.
Sunlight reflected off the falling water, creating faint rainbow patterns in the mist. The sound of flowing water echoed softly across the courtyard, calm and rhythmic.
Two curved paths split around the fountain. One leading to the right wing of the campus, the other to the left. A broad staircase directly behind the fountain led straight toward the academy’s main building.
Noah climbed the steps.
The large doors opened automatically as he approached.
Inside, he found himself in a grand hallway with high ceilings and polished marble floors. Tall pillars lined both sides, and banners bearing the academy’s emblem hung between them. The space felt dignified and authoritative.
A few staff members walked past him, carrying files and tablets.
With a thoughtful expression, he muttered, "I need to go to the office first for registration."
’Where might it be?’
After going in the same direction, he looked around and spotted a large digital directory mounted on the wall. It displayed a map of the building along with labeled sections.
"Administrative Office – Ground Floor, East Wing."
With a small nod, he said, "That makes it easy."
He followed the signs pointing toward the East Wing. After walking down a quieter corridor, he found a glass door labeled Administration Office.
He stepped inside.
Behind a long reception desk sat a middle-aged woman wearing formal attire. She looked up as he approached.
With a neutral expression, she asked, "Yes?"
Politely, Noah replied, "I’m a new student. Here for entry registration," showing his admission confirmation on his mobile.
She nodded and gestured for him to place his phone on a small scanning pad. The system processed his details quickly.
Calmly, she said, "Please stand still."
A small device beside the desk emitted another scanning light. Within seconds, his information was confirmed.
With a professional tone, she said, "Registration completed. Place your thumb here."
He pressed his thumb onto a small biometric panel.
Moments later, a sleek card slid out from a slot in the desk.
It was a metallic ID card with the academy emblem engraved at the top. His name—Noah Eldritch—was displayed clearly, along with a unique identification code.
She handed it to him and explained, "This is your student ID. It grants you access to academic buildings, training areas, the library, and your assigned dormitory room. Also, with this, you can use transport in this city freely."
She tapped on her screen again.
"Dormitory Block C. Room 312. The card will unlock your room door."
With a grateful expression, Noah said, "Thank you."
With that, he turned and left the office.
As he stepped back into the grand hallway, the weight of the card in his hand felt symbolic.
He was officially a student of Novaris Academy.
Now, the real beginning awaited him.
---
The path that led to the dormitory area was on the left side of the fountain. Soon, he found the dormitory buildings. They were spread wide.
Looking around in awe, he muttered, "Man... this place is too huge."
Noah moved to find Block C. Soon, he found it and scanned his card at the counter on the ground floor of the building. He took the elevator and pressed the button for the third floor.
The doors slid open, revealing the corridor of the third floor. He stopped in front of the door marked 312.
With excitement in his eyes, he said, "This is my new room."
Noah scanned the card at the door like a keycard.
The lock opened with a soft beep.
He entered the room. It was dark. Then the lights turned on automatically. 𝒇𝒓𝙚𝒆𝔀𝓮𝓫𝒏𝓸𝙫𝓮𝓵.𝓬𝙤𝙢
Surprised, he exclaimed, "Oh! This is better than I thought."
It was big. A living room with a balcony. A connected kitchen. A bedroom. It was perfect for living.
With delight, he thought, ’Nice! It also has a TV.’
Noah checked his bedroom. There was a single bed, a desk near the window, and a bathroom.
With satisfaction, he said, "This is perfect. Now let’s arrange my things and get something to eat."
It was late afternoon, so he was hungry and wanted to eat something.
He opened the cupboard in the bedroom, took out his bag from the storage ring, and started arranging his clothes inside.
Once he was done, he left the dormitory room.
He wondered where he could get something to eat. Did he need to go outside the academy?
But he was happy to see that there were many shops inside the academy campus. Students might hardly want to leave the academy. Of course, they were limited, but good enough.
After roaming around the campus, he got to know a few things. Most places were cafés, cake shops, ice cream stalls, and similar stores.
There were no huge restaurants.
He decided to ask an ice cream vendor inside the campus.
The vendor looked at him casually as Noah asked, "Excuse me, where can I get proper food?"
The vendor replied kindly, "There’s a cafeteria inside the campus. You can eat there for free with your student ID."
Feeling pleased, Noah thought, ’Well, that’s good.’
He then headed toward the cafeteria.
