Not that I expected any empathy or sympathy from them, considering both of them were going to pursue their self-interest over pitting others and would not hesitate to get rid of me for their end goal.

This led me to end all this as I needed to have my wedding tomorrow too and send some invitations to a few members who would declare my arrival in the capital city.

Even after dealing with both things where I would prevent Olea from involving herself and also married princes who have very less chance of attacking herself, given the evidence of me dying in the bridal chamber would naturally make her the culprit, I had somewhat less chance of dying tomorrow.

This made me think of the other thing which I needed to do: to invite a few important members as guests for my marriage.

Aleriana Vandreat came from a family without maternal support, and Kyle—an illegitimate son without any support from his family—would have no one present at our ceremony except for a few servants and members of the ghost sect.

There would be a bland wedding if there were no guests, wouldn’t it?

The princess most probably wasn’t going to invite anyone, and even if she did, there were most likely chances of no one arriving, so as a husband, it was my duty to announce it to everyone.

"Hm, I must have spoken too much; I apologize, Princess, for showing such two weak sides of mine today," I looked toward the princess before giving a nod, trying to portray that both weaknesses—the first where I thought her beautiful and the second where I just revealed a secret fact about the mystery of Kyle’s mother’s death—were intentional.

I added a slight confusion to her, where she may think that I intentionally had lied about both matters.

Of course, she wasn’t going to just trust it, but either way, creating confusion was necessary.

Since she needed to be busy, while I would struggle today.

"No, it’s nothing to worry about, husband," but unexpected, I saw a smile on her face.

It was enough to make me confused for a moment, wondering if it was genuine and if she really felt sympathy for me.

But given my knowledge of her character from the story, I wasn’t going to fall for it, making me remain calm as I heard her further advice.

"As a wife, it’s my duty to support my husband emotionally."

’Emotionally? Or eternally? Because I can see you sitting on my dead body.’

[ Be positive, host; it’s not necessary for you to be dead to have her sit on you. ]

’....Nice one.’

"Yes, then I would take my leave as I need to greet the Queen Dowager."

I turned to leave.

After stating those words, the reaction came pretty fast, as I felt a delicate hand which was light a moment ago once again resting on my shoulder.

But this time, it was firm enough to stop me, with the grip tightened enough to make me halt and turn my gaze to see the same woman looking toward me with a gaze that should have belonged to Olea.

’Ah shit, another tragedy.’

Seeing her cold gaze—though not filled with killing intent only—sharp as though she was clearly unhappy with me going to visit Dowager’s Palace, I blinked before tilting my head, remembering how Princess Aleriana didn’t have a good relation with anyone in the palace, especially the Empress Dowager.

"What did you just say?" she firmly inquired.

Long story short, the princess’s mother was in particular a strong woman, having good achievements of her own but lacking any family background, leading her to be looked down upon by aristocrats—mostly mistresses or nobles, whoever.

However, even though the princess didn’t have a tragic story like Olea’s parents, living inside this palace for so long, surrounded by political warfare, she most probably had come to hate royalty.

Making her such a reaction clearly justified.

’Shit, it hurts!?’

But clearly not justified to just break my shoulder.

It was very embarrassing, but I could feel the strength in her grip on my shoulder was just a step back from breaking my bones.

She was damn like a bulldozer or maybe a truck; why the hell are these cultivators so strong even with twig-like appearances?

"You are hurting me, sweetheart."

:: Blerghhh! ::

’phew’, at least this time, hearing that insect vomiting not on my head but on the milk bowl which she was drinking from on the dining table, I felt somewhat relieved, but not hating, as I myself felt embarrassed saying those words, evident from the princess’s twitch of eyes and silence that permeated for a long while.

’Say something, woman.’

"Huh? S-sweetheart? What?"

Finally, with those words, a hand loosened from my shoulder, finally retreating.

She looked towards me with a hint of redness near her ears, which my heart was trying to interpret as a gesture of love, not my mind. Knowing her character, I braced my heart against believing her acting as I gave a nod.

"Hm, yes, aren’t we going to marry soon?"

I acted nonchalantly, giving a shrug of my shoulder while feeling the pain, as I just wanted to leave this room away from both of these women who were very hard to deal with.

It made me just think about what would happen if I were to marry them, but knowing it’s inevitable for my survival, I turned to attend to other matters.

As Aleriana was making me more believe that her acting of blushing was true, clearly her intentions were to lower my guard.

Evident how she was too good at her acting, shown from the crimson tint near her ears with the aversion of her head, as if feeling embarrassed by my confession—anyone would think she loved me.

But not in a million years; it was possible.

"Y...yes."

Just hearing her mutter, I directly left the room, making my way while not forgetting to grab two breads from the table.

:: Wait! I need to eat. ::

’She is poor; let’s go to the Empress to eat good food.’

With two intentions in particular—where, unlike the bland food served here, I could eat good food in the Empress’ palace—and second, to invite the Empress for my wedding, I directly made my way out of the room with the little black fairy cockroach pulled along with me as if sticking to a mirror.

:: My bread! ::

’Shut up, and control the vomiting in food; what if someone drinks that milk?’

:: ....My bad ::
