Extraordinary Realm from Persuasion System-Chapter 599 - 217: The Power of One Man Ignites the Entire City! _2
Even if someone knew that these were his clothes, Zhang Beixing could still retort by claiming that a thief had entered his room while he was out in the afternoon and stolen this very outfit. After all, theft in Ancient Rome was hardly out of the ordinary. As long as there was no incontrovertible evidence, these people could not do anything to him.
With this thought in mind, Zhang Beixing was utterly composed. He stood up, found a place to hide the document he had in his hand, and then sat down on the sofa, leisurely brewing himself a pot of hot tea.
While waiting for the tea to steep, THUD, THUD, THUD— Messy, heavy footsteps approached from afar.
Immediately after, BANG! With a dull thud, the door to Zhang Beixing's room was rudely kicked in. Several fully-armed Ancient Roman police officers with guns walked in. Upon entering, without saying a word, they pointed their guns directly at Zhang Beixing.
The Black Ghost officer who had exchanged glances with Zhang Beixing downstairs earlier even bellowed, "Nobody move! We are from the Ancient Rome Police Department. We suspect that you might be involved in a serious murder case. Raise your hands now, immediately!"
With so many guns pointed at him, Zhang Beixing remained unfazed. He even glanced down at his teacup, noticing that the tea had steeped, and casually took a sip. Completely at ease.
Seeing his nonchalant demeanor, the Ancient Rome police officers' brows furrowed, feeling insulted. They were just about to move forward, ready to employ force to subdue Zhang Beixing, but at that moment, a male voice came from the door, interrupting their actions.
"Hold on!"
The Ancient Rome police officers looked over and saw a resolute-looking man from Great Xia appear at the doorway, walking toward them. As he approached, he flashed his credentials.
"I'm Interpol Officer Zhou Zhenghua, badge number 9570323. I'm one of the persons in charge of Zhang Beixing's trip to Ancient Rome, and these are my credentials. What are you doing? Why have you entered my client's room without any pretext and pointed guns at him?" Zhou Zhenghua asked.
Upon seeing his credentials and hearing his words, the Black Ghost officer's brows furrowed in displeasure. But due to Zhou Zhenghua's authority, he still replied, "We are from the Ancient Rome Police Department. Not long ago, an exceptionally vicious large-scale murder case occurred within our Maro territory. Thirty-two people died. According to our investigation, the prime suspect in this case is Zhang Beixing, so we have come to apprehend him!"
"A large-scale murder case, with thirty-two people dead?" Hearing the Black Ghost officer's words, Zhou Zhenghua was slightly taken aback. He looked at Zhang Beixing with bewilderment in his eyes.
Clearly, he had not expected that in such a short span of time, Zhang Beixing could have orchestrated such a significant event.
However, he quickly regained his composure. He cleared his throat and asked Zhang Beixing, "Did you go out tonight?"
"Yes!" Zhang Beixing responded without denial.
Although he had avoided cameras when outside, he hadn't done so in the hotel because it was simply impossible to avoid them. Other than the cameras, there were the ever-moving hotel staff, the Ancient Rome police force, Interpol, and personnel from the Great Xia embassy. Guarded by these three powers, it was evident who had gone out and who hadn't. Zhang Beixing had no reason to trip himself up over this.
Hearing what Zhang Beixing said, the Black Ghost officer scoffed, "Good! You admit you went out today, that's enough! Officer Zhou, you've heard what he said. Now you shouldn't have any objections, right? Go on, handcuff him and bring him back to the station for a thorough interrogation!"
Saying so, he waved his hand, signaling for Zhang Beixing to be taken away. Unexpectedly, Zhou Zhenghua extended his hand and said, "Wait!"
"What now?" Impatience was already evident on the Black Ghost officer's face. Officer Zhou's sudden appearance earlier, interfering with their actions, was one thing. After all, Zhou Zhenghua was unaware of the situation at the time, so it was only reasonable for him to stop them to get details. But now, after everything has been made clear, and Zhang Beixing has acknowledged that he left the hotel this evening, why is he still obstructing us?
"Officer Zhou, are you trying to obstruct our official duty?" the Black Ghost officer asked with a hostile tone.
Hearing this, Zhou Zhenghua shook his head, about to speak, but before he could, Zhang Beixing's slow and unhurried voice interjected, "Officer, we most certainly will not hinder official duties, but the prerequisite is that you must present evidence. You claim I am the prime suspect in this case, so I would like to know, where is your evidence? It wouldn't happen to be that you're targeting me and seizing this opportunity for a personal vendetta, would it?"
As he spoke, Zhang Beixing looked at the Black Ghost officer with a taunting smirk on his face.
Upon these words, the Black Ghost officer's dark face seemed like it had started a dye workshop, turning from green to purple—a spectacle indeed. Because, indeed, part of the reason the officer had come today was driven by personal motivations. Now that his hidden agenda was exposed, he couldn't help but feel like he had lost face.
"Cut the crap! If I've come to arrest you, it is certainly because there's evidence!"
"Look for yourself! The wounds on these victims, were they not caused by your weapon?" Pulling out several photographs taken at the bar scene from his pocket, the Black Ghost officer slammed them down on the table in front of him and said loudly.
