Exploring Technology in a Wizard World-Chapter 716 - 714: Arrived at the Main Continent!
"So like this." Richard nodded after hearing his explanation, apparently accepting the novelist’s story.
There was a slight pause before he looked at the novelist again and asked, "Besides the first question I asked earlier, I have a second question. That is... I really want to know, the background you fabricated earlier, how much of it was true and how much was false?"
"This..."
The novelist’s gaze flickered for a moment, then he suddenly laughed and said, his lips slightly pursed, "I can tell you this, the experiences I told you about were almost entirely true, only the details were altered. For example, my real situation was even more tragic than what I told you, and there were several times when my life was in danger."
"Phew—"
Taking a deep breath, the novelist said, "Fortunately, I encountered some strange adventures afterward, and I also got a magical book, so now we’re having this conversation."
At this point, the novelist looked at Richard, his expression slowly turning dangerous, "Alright, I’ve answered both questions. Now, my kind-hearted friend, I’m going to make my move."
"Wait a moment."
"What now?" The novelist frowned, slightly annoyed.
Richard looked at him and pondered before saying, "I’ve told you before, I’m not too fond of doing good deeds."
"Yes, I remember. So what?"
"So, once I’ve done a good deed, I don’t really like to turn it into a bad one. Also, I don’t want to complicate a simple matter. I know the book is very valuable, but personally, I’m only amazed by it and don’t necessarily want to possess it. In other words, I don’t want to fight you, I don’t want to kill you. You can take the book and leave peacefully, and we’ll pretend nothing happened. How about that?" Richard said.
"Ha!" The novelist suddenly laughed, looking at Richard as he chuckled, "My kind-hearted friend, what are you talking about? You don’t want to kill me? Do you really think you have the ability to kill me?
Hahaha, I must tell you, I might seem weak in this body because I haven’t been using it for long, nor have I properly adapted it.
That doesn’t mean I can’t use this body to exert great power to kill you, even though it may damage this body, but that doesn’t matter.
Thus, I appreciate your kindness, but let’s proceed as usual. Now, do you plan to hand over the book first and then get killed by me? Or shall I kill you first and take the book myself?"
"You won’t get the book." Richard sighed, looking at the novelist and said, "You’ll only get death."
As he spoke, Richard flipped his hand, and the book vanished from sight, then the "Destructive Gloves" appeared with a click, worn on his hand.
Seeing the change in Richard’s hands, the novelist raised an eyebrow but didn’t pay too much attention, "Some kind of illusion technique, huh? It poses little threat to me. My friend, my true strength is far beyond your imagination, so I really suggest you give up resistance."
Richard glanced at the novelist and said, "Strength far beyond my imagination? I guess it’s still not at the level of a Level 4 Wizard, right? After all, if you were a Level 4 Wizard, you wouldn’t have been nervous about that man named Cesar."
"True, I haven’t reached Level 4 Wizard." The novelist admitted, "But honestly, even so, I’m still stronger than most Third-level Wizards. My kind-hearted friend, how strong are you?"
"My strength?" Richard drawled, "Against a Level 4 Wizard, I can’t be sure. But for those below Level 4 Wizards, I can almost guarantee a one-hit kill."
"One-hit kill? In one round? My kind-hearted friend, that’s the biggest boast I’ve ever heard." The novelist got a bit angry, "I really want to see if you’re that powerful right now!"
As he spoke, golden light began to emanate from the novelist’s fingertips,
shooting towards Richard.
At almost the same time, on Richard’s hand, the "Destructive Gloves" also released golden light. Stronger, brighter, it nearly filled the entire cabin, instantly suppressing the golden light from the novelist’s hands.
What!
The novelist was stunned, not yet reacting when the "Destructive Gloves" on Richard’s hand vibrated, "Rustle," and began to disintegrate.
The entire glove disintegrated into nearly a hundred pieces, like a swarm of golden butterflies flying toward the novelist, then sticking to his body surface, disregarding all defenses.
The numerous pieces started emitting an even stronger golden light, engulfing the novelist completely. The novelist began to struggle and scream. Faintly, large swathes of black mist tried to emerge from his mouth and nose but quickly dissipated in the golden light.
Moments later, the golden light receded, and the pieces "rattled" off the body of the novelist.
The novelist "thumped" to the ground on his knees, his eyes dull as he looked at Richard. He opened his mouth to say something, but ultimately only a "thump" sound was heard as he fell to the ground, lifeless.
Richard looked at the novelist’s body, shook his head, and said softly, "See, no need to test, I was telling the truth."
After finishing, Richard’s body swayed slightly, his face becoming extremely pale. He felt intense pain inside, caused by overconsumption of magic source in a very short time.
"Phew—phew—"
Richard took deep breaths and took out an Energy Storage Short Wand to recover quickly.
After a good while, his complexion improved a bit.
He moved the novelist’s body, then collected a few Magic Rune White Jade Plates used to block scent and energy from around the cabin, and Richard sat down in a chair. He took a deep breath and summarized slowly, "The Black Spirit King Mask indeed still has residual inheritable power, but as a last resort, it should not be used lightly. Without the support of the Black Spirit King Mask, using the ’Destructive Gloves’ is really a bit strained.
A single finger attack is already a big drain, so I must use it cautiously, and using its full functionality would drain my body completely, basically if not successful, then I’m done for. It seems a lot of things need improvement, a lot of areas need work. Only by doing so can I handle the more complex situations on the Main Continent."
After speaking, Richard flipped his hand, and took out the novelist’s book from the Space Iron Ring.
Thinking for a while, he input Free Energy Elements to activate it, then started to flip through it with a somewhat researching mind. While flipping through, he pondered, his expression constantly changing.
A silent night.
...
When the long night had passed, a bright red sun rose from the east.
Richard appeared on the deck, took a deep breath of the brisk morning air, and looked towards the north, where he saw a faint black line emerging at the horizon where the sky met the sea.
He knew, that was the continent.
He knew, the Main Continent had arrived!
