Evolving Infinitely From An E-Class Hero-Chapter 74: The Bat In The Fog
The rain slammed down harder than before, slapping against my face as I tore through the sky on route to Sector C.
The storm around me cracked faintly with thunder scattered all over at different distances and at different intervals.
A large gush of wind blew past my ears as I broke the sound barrier, I narrowed my eyes, focusing on the shimmering lights that began to show face far ahead.
There it was, Sector C. The outlines of the skyscrapers stood tall and unwavering in the distance, like a row of sleeping giants untouched by the chaotic rain.
I lowered my altitude till I was slightly above the sea , letting the ocean breeze hit my soaked suit. My gaze scanned every shadow and every inch of the sky above me.
Still, nothing.
"Where the hell is it?" I muttered to myself.
I quickly accessed a ton of news outlets and websites in search of anything concerning the appearance of an airborne Calamity Creature rampaging through the Sector C.
But still, there were no Calamity Creature activity reported I. Sector C.
"What? Then... It hasn’t reached here yet?" I mumbled as I spun around to check my rear.
An internal silence fell.
The roar of the ocean, the wind, and the faint hum of my flight boosters filed the air.
Thoughts spiraled in my mind.
Did the creature give up?
Retreat?
Or maybe it was never heading here in the first place.
I was deep in thought when suddenly—
Tti-ring.
[Compass Needle Activated]
[Unknown Source Of Killing Intent]
My pulse rose. I whipped my head back and around peering through the fog drenched sky.
The fog made my vision blur so it was definitely harder to see.
"Where is it...?!" I hissed.
Then—
Boom!
An incredible force slammed into my back like a meteor crashing from space. The impact sent shockwaves throughout my body as I was flung from the sky and smashed into the sandy beach.
Sand and debris exploded into different directions from the impact. 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝙚𝙬𝓮𝙗𝒏𝙤𝒗𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝒐𝓶
"Huh!... I knew it !!!" I groaned.
My eyes widened in the dizzy haze of the crash. Sand filed my nose, ears, and even my mouth.
Debris coated a great portion of my suit as I forced myself to my feet.
Then—
Shrreeeeeeeeeekkkkkkkkkkkkk!
That familiar sinister screech echoed through the air of the beach.
The creature was circling around me, sizing me up like a lion hunting its prey.
I couldn’t see clearly from the amount of debris and sand lodged in my eyes.
Shrreeeeeeeeeekkkkkkkkkkkkk!
The beasts attacked again.
Bam!
Another direct hit. This time, it flung me into the shallow waters of the beach.
Water splashed and bubbled around me, drenching me even further.
But fortunately for me, the water helped clear some of the grit stick in my facial cavities.
"Grhhh!"
I pushed up myself to my knees, panting. I looked around, still no sign of the creature. My ears twiched for the sound of its flapping wings.
Still, nothing.
Then I remembered back at the safe room in the Whistling Derrick, a survivor had described the creature as ’Bat-Like’ so that meant that—
"Its wings would not make any sound... Bats make little to no sound when they fly!"
Boom!
"Argghhh!"
The third hit landed, smashing me deeper into the deeper part water.
Tti-ring.

Cough
Cough
Cough
Cough!
I coughed up water and sand I had injested by accident earlier , shook my head and growled.
"Tch! I’ll just have to try it... There’s no way I can fight what I can’t see!"
"Skill: Spacial Awareness."
Tti-ring.
[Active Skill: Spacial Awareness]
I shot my palm into the shallow water till it came in contact with the soft bed of the water.
Whirrrrrrrrr!
A pulse of energy surged from the Forever Core, flowing down my arm and spreading through the water. It pulsed like a sonar, forming a transparent, golden-tint, done shaped energy wave that spread outward and vanished instantly.
My vision shifted.
I could see the outlines of everything around me, almost like an X-ray. Faint, almost ghostly because of their lack of Meta energy.
Kpim.
Then, I saw it. To my surprise, high above me l, it was dark shaped with massive wings coiled in a spiral motion.
"Got yah!..."
The Calamity Creature swooped again, with its claws outstretched ready to tear me to pieces.
I shot my arm out and aimed with my gauntlet.
"Incinerate!"
Golden blasts shot from my arm, lighting up the sky like a firework display.
The creature twisted in mid air, dodging every bolt with unnatural agility and speed.
"Tch! Damn it’s fast!"
Whoooooshhhh!
"Come out!"
I shot into the air.
And then met the creature head on like two high speed bullets meeting eachother.
It was violent and rapid, rain flew around us like beads. The creature dived, curved and spun, moving like an ethereal shadow.
I followed with my boosters roaring, keeping me just behind its tail.
I was about grabbing it tail when the batlike Calamity Creature opened its mouth and shrieked, firing a high pitched sonar wave that nearly shattered my eardrums.
"Argh!!!" I winced in pain, spinning backwards in the air.
I recovered quickly but the creature has already gotten some distance between us.
I raised both my arms, firing more Incinerate shots spiraling towards the creature. The moved erratically in mid air like guided missiles. The beast twisted, dodging it again but this time it barely evaded the attack due to the number of shots.
"It’s fast and smart, but not untouchable," I muttered.
I zipped past the rooftop of the lifeguard tower and then shot up vertically, leading the creature into a climb. Then I cut my propelling power and dropped suddenly, flipping backwards in mid air.
Sure enough, it took the bait.
The creature chased upward, but when I fell, I turned and fired another barrage of concentrated blasts from both gauntlets.
"Incinerate!"
The golden steaks cracked through the fog.
The creature dodged and dodged but fortunately for me, one of them connected.
Boom!
The Calamity Creature shrieked in pain, as the blast hit its right wing right on point.
"Bingo!"
