"Hmm... might come in handy later," Victor mumbled as he read the description and then closed the screen.

Victor then put the mask back on and changed his appearance and took one last glance at the corpses of the players, which were vanishing. Then he turned into black lightning and started moving through the sky.

"Damn, it’s so boring to guard this place," a grunt said as he kicked the stone pebble in front of him.

"Yeah, watching those new recruits kill each other is more interesting. Sigh, those guys must be earning a lot by betting on who survives," the other person said with regret in his voice.

"Stop talking and be alert," a stern voice made them straighten up as they broke out in cold sweat when they saw the person’s appearance. "Yes, Captain."

Buzz

"Hmm?" The captain snorted as he looked at the guards and was about to reprimand them for not staying alert when the band on his wrist vibrated.

He looked at it with a frown and turned it on, and his eyes widened. "So many of them died all of a sudden!"

The band was used to monitor the progress of the new recruits on the trial island and to keep track of how many died. Just a few minutes ago he had checked, but in such a short time more than 60 new recruits had died.

’How come? Did a dungeon spawn, or did some kind of powerful monster enter the testing site?’ The captain frowned as all sorts of possibilities entered his head.

Rustle

The captain sharply turned his head toward the sound of someone approaching, and his pupils constricted when he saw that a grunt had arrived with blood on his body.

Thud

"Hey, are you okay?" the captain rushed forward when he saw the grunt had directly fainted from what appeared to be excessive blood loss.

Just as he reached out and flipped the body of the grunt over, he suddenly felt a chill run down his spine.

The captain felt his scalp go numb and unconsciously raised his hand horizontally when he saw the closed pupils of the grunt abruptly open and shoot his hand toward him, and one of his fingers was crackling with black lightning. 𝓯𝓻𝒆𝙚𝒘𝓮𝙗𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝒍.𝙘𝓸𝙢

The movement was so fast that he could not react to its speed and could only defend—but to his horror...

Bang!

"Argh!" the Captain screamed in pain when the finger directly pierced through his hand, destroying it from the inside as he felt his bones and flesh explode. However, it did not end there, as a black bullet of lightning emerged from his mangled forearm and pierced his shoulder, crippling his entire right side.

"AHHHH!" he howled in even greater pain this time, and a message appeared on his retina.

[You have lost 50% of your health]

[You are bleeding]

[You will continue to lose HP]

[Please heal yourself]

"Captain!" he heard the screams of the other two grunts, and hearing his scream, more guards wearing the uniform of the Black Church appeared and surrounded the attacker.

"Who are you? You are not a member of the Black Church!" Even though he was in pain, he spoke between his gritted teeth

"Well, looks like my sneak attack was much more effective than I expected," the attacker said as he put his hand on his face and peeled his skin off, which turned into a white faceless mask.

Victor looked calmly at the small group surrounding him.

Victor had used his overwhelming stats in strength and used a sneak attack along with his skill to injure the main hurdle to his escape. If he had not used a sneak attack, it would have been a long and time-consuming operation, and other reinforcements could have arrived, causing his escape to fail.

The reason he came here was that this place was the control room and treasury of the base, which had the map of the desolate place where the base was located. If he left without a map, who knew how long it would take for him to return to his territory?

He then turned to look at the captain and smirked. "Oh, me? I am just someone whom you had kidnapped."

Hearing this, the captain’s eyes shrank and he shouted, "Impossible! We checked all the recruits who had no strength. There is no way you could reach this level of strength in such a short period of time!"

"Well, I don’t have time. Let’s deal with the cannon fodder first." Hearing his words, the captain shouted, "Hurry, attack him!"

Before they could react, Victor turned into black lightning and appeared behind the grunts who were panicking and fired a black lightning bullet at the back of their heads, and they died instantly. Then he went behind the back of another grunt and repeated the same process.

’Shit, I need to get out,’ the captain thought as he broke out in cold sweat seeing Victor effortlessly kill his soldiers. If he had not been injured, he could have fought, but now he could feel his strength draining due to his injuries.

"Where do you think you are going?"

Suddenly, the captain’s footsteps stopped abruptly and he swung his fist at Victor, who threw a punch toward him, but to his horror, when both fists collided, his own exploded into a bloody mist. This would not have happened if he could have utilized his full strength and had not been injured.

A moment later he splurted a mouthful of blood and fell to the ground. The last thing he saw was a Black Lightning Bullet aimed at his head.

Victor then rummaged through the corpse and found the item he was looking for—the key to the control room and treasury.

Victor walked toward the building, and first he put his mask back on as there were cameras in the corridor. Then he headed toward the Treasury Room.

He inserted the key and—

Woosh!

The huge steel gate lifted upwards, and Victor’s eyes gleamed when he saw the contents.

Bars of gold, silver, and various monster cores and ores were all lined up, along with a few skill books. His lips curled up as he muttered, "Nice harvest."

"Oh? What’s this?" Victor raised an eyebrow as he saw a skill book which was kept separate from the others. He opened it, and his eyes gleamed with interest. "I lack a close-range attack. This will be perfect to go with my Lightning Bloodline."

"Not bad," Victor mumbled, and then went to the control room. He first pushed the key into the keyhole and deleted all CCTV footage of the trial, took the map of the surrounding area, and left the place.

After he went outside, he turned into black lightning and shot toward the sky, leaving the base.

The players who were in a battle royale with each other suddenly got a new notification.
