Elder Kinston's Exclusive Sweet Wife-Chapter 960 - 998: At the Corporation Entrance
"Kyle, haven’t you learned your lesson yet? Have you forgotten about what happened with your parents? Back then, your mother also said she loved your father, but she could turn away and leave. And Mabel, too, she kept saying she loved you, but when it truly came to making a choice, she didn’t stand by your side! Can you really not see this, or are you still deceiving yourself?!" Francine criticized, purposefully touching on what he was most sensitive about.
But what disappointed her was his pair of dark eyes, gazing at her with an indescribably cold glare, as if ready to spill blood. "If you say another word, I can make sure you never utter a sound again."
She paused, recognizing it as both a warning and a threat.
She had more things to say, but now they were all stuck in her throat, and she found herself too scared to speak.
"Get out!" he demanded.
Francine’s body shivered suddenly, and she retreated from the room in disgrace.
Once she reached the outer room, she met Caleb’s gaze.
"Dr. Howards, the time and number of people have been confirmed, I’ve already filled out the document, please take it with you," Caleb stated.
Francine accepted the document resentfully, walking away in her high heels.
When Caleb entered the inner room again, he saw Kyle Kinston smoking. Caleb hardly ever saw his boss smoke. Usually, the boss only smoked when he was really troubled.
And now... this means Elder Kinston is really troubled? Caleb thought.
"Is she still at the Corporation’s entrance?" Kyle abruptly asked.
"Huh?" Caleb was taken aback for a moment but quickly caught on; "she" in his boss’s words must mean Miss Quinn. "I’ll call the front desk of the Corporation to check right now."
Just as Caleb was about to make the call, Kyle said, "No need."
Holding the cigarette between his long fingers, his gaze seemed lost outside the window, so much so that when the cigarette burned down and scorched his fingers, he remained unaware. Had Caleb not promptly called out, Kyle’s fingers might have gotten burned.
Outside, the sky was gradually darkening. When Kyle asked Caleb to drive him to the tavern near the Corporation, at the building’s entrance, he saw Mabel standing by the door.
Kyle’s brow furrowed slightly. She was standing alone in the night, her almond eyes wide and looking at this car, appearing pitiful. And damn it, how could she be wearing so little? The weather hadn’t warmed up yet, especially at night, when the temperature was much lower than during the day. In this outfit, wasn’t she afraid of catching a cold?
"Elder Kinston, should I stop the car?" Caleb asked.
Kyle pursed his thin lips, and as the car was about to slowly pass by her, he finally spoke, "Stop!"
Caleb promptly hit the brakes, and Kyle stepped out of the car, heading straight towards Mabel.
"Kyle!" When she saw him getting out of the car, a look of surprise flashed across her face.
He glared at her, annoyed, "Standing here at night in such thin clothing? Don’t you know it’s cold? Go back right now!"
"Uh, it’s actually not that cold," she replied, then glanced at the car not far away. "Why don’t you let me get in your car? Uh, maybe it won’t be so cold then."
