Elder Kinston's Exclusive Sweet Wife-Chapter 835 - 870: Father’s Wish
"How old were you when you buried the things?" he asked.
"I was 11, just before my father passed away," she said, deeply recalling the time because shortly after burying the items, her father died.
Kyle Kinston walked up to each tree, observing them. These were all different species of trees. When greening the community back then, there was no unified arrangement. The saplings were planted regardless of species, resulting in various types of trees being present in the community.
"So, the likelihood under this tree should be quite high," Kyle pointed at one of the trees after inspecting them for a while.
Mabel Quinn was pleasantly surprised, "You sure?"
"We’ll know once we dig," he said.
Indeed, let’s dig then! Ready to go, Mabel intended to pick up a small stone to start digging the hole, but Kyle directly took out his keychain, ejecting a small, delicate dagger from it, and began digging with the dagger.
Looking at the finely crafted dagger in his hand compared to the crude stone in hers, Mabel suddenly felt somewhat inferior.
Still, even if the tool was a bit crude, it could still dig the earth.
However, just as she was about to start digging, Kyle stopped her, saying, "I’ll dig; if you try too, your hand might accidentally get scratched by my dagger."
That made sense, so Mabel decided not to insist on digging and just watched Kyle do it.
As time had passed, much of the details had faded from her memory, and the area around the trees was broad. Thus, Kyle had been digging for quite some time. Meanwhile, Mabel gazed at his profile, lost in thought. She never expected that years later, the person digging up her Time Box with her would not be her father, but him.
If only her father were still alive! If he were, what would he think seeing Kyle Kinston now? Would he feel that his daughter had finally found someone she could entrust her life to? Would he play chess with Kyle and watch football leagues together?
Various thoughts swirled in her mind until finally, he said, "There’s something."
She snapped out of her reverie and looked at the spot he was digging. Soon, the object emerged: a metal box wrapped in cling film and a plastic bag. Although the plastic bag and film had mostly decayed, the metal box remained fairly intact, with patterns still visible despite some rust.
"Is this it?" Kyle asked.
Mabel was excited; she genuinely didn’t expect to still have the chance to unearth this box after so many years.
At the time, she and her father buried their own wishes there. But now...
Mabel opened the box, finding two envelopes inside. One was signed with her name, and the other with her father’s name.
She picked up the one with her name on it, gently caressing it. The handwriting was her father’s own, intended for them to read each other’s letters when she turned eighteen, meaning the letter signed with her name actually contained her father’s wishes.
"This is the letter my dad buried," Mabel told Kyle, then opened the envelope, and a photograph slid out, landing in the metal box. Besides that, the letter contained nothing else.
