Elder Kinston's Exclusive Sweet Wife-Chapter 834 - 869: The Buried Time Box
At Kyle Kinston’s instruction, the other party tore off the seal on the door and then unlocked it with a key.
Mabel Quinn was surprised, clearly not expecting to have the chance to walk inside the apartment. She had only thought she would get a look from the outside.
"Alright, let’s go in." Kyle Kinston took her hand and walked into the apartment.
"When did you get the key ready?" she asked.
"While you were in the restroom," he replied.
Mabel felt a warmth in her heart. The things she hadn’t thought of, he had thought of for her. She looked up and took in the scene inside the apartment. There was noticeable dust on the furniture and signs of damage on some furniture and the walls, making the whole place feel somewhat desolate and dilapidated.
Once a home lovingly arranged by her adoptive father, now ruined by her adoptive mother. Mabel felt an indescribable sadness.
She walked into what used to be her small room, now filled with clutter. All her belongings had been moved out long ago, so naturally, nothing related to her remained there.
She then entered the bedroom of her adoptive parents. The appliances had been dismantled, with many things scattered on the floor, making the entire bedroom appear filthy and in disarray.
Mabel bent down and picked up a dust-covered photo album from the ground.
Inside were all photos of her adoptive mother, along with some of her mother and father together. Looking at her father, Mabel’s eyes couldn’t help but soften with warmth.
Mabel picked up the photo albums from the floor, one by one, and placed them on the still somewhat intact coffee table.
"Aren’t you going to take your adoptive father’s photos with you?" Kyle Kinston asked.
"I’ll leave these to... Cecil Quinn," she said. He was her older brother, but she no longer wished to call him that. When he had her kidnapped to pay off his debts, the sibling bond between them was severed.
Still... although Cecil Quinn is ultimately her adoptive father’s blood, she didn’t want to pursue anything further. She just hoped that once he was released from prison, he wouldn’t come looking for her again.
Mabel finally returned to the living room, looking at her father’s portrait hanging in the corner. She bowed three times seriously, and then said to Kyle Kinston, "Alright, let’s go."
"Is that enough?" he asked. 𝕗𝚛𝚎𝚎𝐰𝗲𝗯𝗻𝚘𝚟𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝕞
"Yes, it’s enough," she smiled, and then they walked downstairs together. As they passed a small park in the complex, Mabel suddenly said, "Speaking of which, my dad and I buried a Time Box around here. He said we’d dig it up when I turned 18 and see what we had each buried."
"Then, did you dig it up later?" he asked.
She shook her head, "No, I only remembered vaguely where it was. I couldn’t recall exactly. After my father passed away, there was no way to find out, so I didn’t dig it up."
"Why not try to find it now and see where it was buried?" suggested Kyle Kinston.
"Now?" Mabel was startled. "But I can’t remember the exact location at all!"
"Just give me a general idea," he said.
So, she led him to the general area. There were about a dozen trees within the range, and she only remembered it was buried under a small sapling back then. But now, the trees had grown to different heights, making it impossible to identify.
