Chapter 228: Chapter 237: The Painting in the Studio

"I was saving..." Her words suddenly halted, as she saw the big yellow dog she thought had fallen in by accident, happily paddling in the water.

Mabel Quinn realized that she had indeed lost her senses, forgetting that dogs can naturally swim! When she saw the Yellow Dog fall, she almost reflexively jumped in to rescue it, because at that moment... she seemed to see herself falling into the water years ago...

Daniel Harris squatted by the pool, waved at the Yellow Dog, so it joyously swam towards him, even sticking out its head to lick Daniel’s fingers.

Mabel was speechless. Well, the more cheerful Yellow Dog was now, the more foolish her act of jumping in after it seemed.

Anyway, her face was already lost. Mabel slowly swam back to the edge of the pool and climbed ashore, only her body and hair were completely soaked, looking quite disheveled.

"If there’s nothing else, I’ll head back first." Mabel said, intending to leave.

"How are you going to leave like that when you’re all wet?" Daniel said, "Come with me." Her disheveled appearance was somewhat amusing, yet also somewhat pitiful, stirring a slight bit of compassion in his heart.

Daniel then laughed at himself, compassion?! Since when did he feel compassion for a woman he’d only met a few times? If he were to say this out loud, it would probably be considered a joke.

Mabel followed Daniel to a bathroom in a room.

"Go take a shower first, I’ll have the servant prepare some clothes and shoes for you in a bit," Daniel said.

"Thank you," Mabel said, "but... uh, you making this decision to let me shower here, won’t the Crown Prince blame you?" After all, this was the Harris Garden, a place belonging to the Crown Prince.

Daniel gave Mabel a curious glance, only to reply with two words, "He won’t."

It seemed that his relationship with the Crown Prince was quite good. Mabel thought this, and so naturally went into the bathroom to take a hot shower. During her shower, the maid placed the replacement clothes on a shelf beside the sink.

Mabel changed into the clothes, finding them all new and fitted her quite well.

She thought she’d been too brief in her shower for new clothes to be bought; could it be that these clothes belonged to a woman in the Harris Garden who hadn’t had a chance to wear them yet, so they let her borrow them?

Looking at the clothing brand, they were all luxury brands, quite expensive.

Could these be the Crown Prince’s girlfriend’s clothes? Speaking of which, even Lilith had mentioned not knowing if the Crown Prince actually had a girlfriend.

Mabel came out of the room, only to be unsure of where to go, so she aimlessly wandered, hoping to find her way out, but accidentally pushed open a door to a room. ƒreewebɳovel.com

It was a room like a studio, with several painting easels set up, canvas boards covering the easels, and several pieces still on the boards.

Mabel thought of the sketches she’d seen before, were these his works? But wasn’t he just an actor? Even if he had a good relationship with the Crown Prince of the Harris family, would he really have a separate studio in the Harris Garden?

As she pondered, her eyes unconsciously fell on one of the paintings. Unlike the other vivid pieces on the easels in the room, this one was in a gloomy tone—a boy, moving forward in a storm, carrying a little girl on his back. The boy’s head was down, concealing his face, while the little girl on his back seemed to struggle to lift her chin, trying to see the path ahead.
