Dungeon Raider System-Chapter 371: The lost cat Part 2
"I sort of knew you were rich, but this is something else," Uriel let out when he saw the welll trimmed bushes, the tall electric fence and the mansion behind all of it. "Why did you call for help on the streets instead of asking your parents to pay someone to look for your cat?"
"My father doesn’t want me to have a cat, he even tried to kill it once..." Bobby sniffed.
"Alright, I’ll find the cat, just stop crying... okay?" Uriel said in a poor attempt to calm down the child.
Finding a cat wasn’t supposed to be a difficult task for a well trained ranger, especially since one of their most important skills was to track people, animals and even cryptids. However, Uriel was anything but a trained ranger as he was barely starting the course, not just that, he didn’t have any intention to actually become a ranger.
Thinking that giving his mystical sense a try was worth the shot, Uriel closed his eyes and attempted to sense any presence in the backyard, but when that failed it didn’t come as a surprise because he never tried to locate an animal before.
The kid allowed Uriel to roam free in the property, but because of its size it was a much more tiresome task than he anticipates when he agreed. He looked around in the garage, then he shook the bushes and even looked for the cat in the trash, but after two hours of hard work he didn’t find a single clue of the presence of an animal within the premises.
"Let’s give it some time, I bet he’ll show up here." Uriel said as he sat at the marble fountain at the center of the backyard.
"But what if he runs away? He doesn’t like adults, I’m the only one who can get near him." The child replied.
"Don’t wory abut that, I’m pretty fast." Uriel said with a smile at the naive boy who had no idea of how much faster hunters were than regular people. As time passed, Uriel noticed how the kid grew impatient and decided to resume the search for the missing cat in order to go back to the hotel before the sun set.
Even if he was now in a wealthy neighborhood with no curfew, his hotel was located in the slums and he wanted to get there before they closed their doors.

However, after leaving no stone unturned, Uriel was certain that there was, nor was ever, a cat in the property. There were no toys, no food dish, no water bowl, but more importantly, there were no droppings of any kind.
Not even birds or rats dared to live in that mansion, let alone a cat.
"Did you lie to me? Because it’s obvious that you don’t have a cat." Uriel glared with suspicion at the small child.
"No! I didn’t lie! Gift must be hiding somewhere inside the house."
"Why didn’t you say so before? Huh?" Uriel said with a scolding tone of voice as he wasted his precious time before sunset in a useless endeavor and hurried to knock on the door.
"There’s no need to knock, this is my house." The kid said puffing out his chest and opened the door, letting Uriel in. Your next read awaits at novelbuddy
The place was richly decorated, so much so that Uriel quickly understood it was more of a statement of wealth than turning a house into a home. There were expensive looking paintings, wonderful scupltures and even the carpet seemed to be made of materials that couldn’t be manufactured within the city.
However, Uriel’s expert eye didn’t miss how each and every valuable object in the house was fake, but didn’t have much time to ponder about that because as soon as they entered the next room the familiar stench of death reached his nostrils.
"Why don’t you stay outside?" Uriel told the kid, not wanting to traumatize him if his cat turned out to be dead.
"Okay!" The kid replied and remained outside the door.
Uriel couldn’t pinpoint the exact location of the body, but he was certaion that there was a body somewhere inside that building. One by one, he opened all the doors trying to identify the source of that smell until he reached Bobby’s room, but the door was partially open.
"There’s no mistake, the smell comes from this room." He muttered, but as soft as his voice was it was enough to alert whatever lurked inside and a rattling sound prompted Uriel to back away in a swift motion.
Then, the door began to slowly open until a small furry creature came out, only to run back inside. Uriel could only catch a glimpse of the creature, but in that short time he noticed the creature was covered in blood.
Thinking that the cryptid might run away, Uriel quickly activated his Dash skill and darted forward, breaking the door into a thousand pieces. He produced his pocket knife from his trait and effortlessly caught the cat, but just as he was about to stab the creature he noticed something was off.
"This is just a regular cat... then..." Uriel turned to confirm that the body on the floor wasn’t that of a cat, or any animal for that matter, it was Bobby’s father’s corpse. Uriel had no way of knowing if the culprit was a cryptid, a hunter or even a regular human, the only thing he was certain of was that the cat was innocent and that he needed to report it to the authorities.
Failing to do so as a ranger might get him into trouble, not to mention that he might even be considered a suspect. If a murder was commited in the slums no one cared, but in a mansion like that it was bound to raise an investigation.
The next thing Uriel did was to take out his smartphone from his trait, but when he wanted to dial the rangers something unexpected happened. The battery was dead.
