Dominate the Super Bowl-Chapter 1674 - 1673: Overt Challenges
The Buffalo Bills, who advanced to the playoffs last season, have won four games and lost one this season. They are not only young and full of promise but also on the rise.
They have high expectations from both within and outside the league, with strength, potential, confidence, and dreams. They are fully equipped to dominate the AFC East and change the league’s landscape.
Years of preparation, accumulation, and brewing have finally led to a period of rapid development, and the springtime for the Buffalo Bills has officially arrived.
However, these Buffalo Bills, the team carrying the league’s expectations and hopes, appear like a child in front of the equally young Kansas City Chiefs, showing their vulnerability and shortcomings, trying to hide in panic.
The gap between the Buffalo Bills and the Kansas City Chiefs is understandable and expected, but such a stark difference is surprising.
One can’t help but think of the Baltimore Ravens. Despite being powerful, they have always been unable to handle the Kansas City Chiefs, losing all three matches and becoming increasingly demoralized, with results getting worse over time.
Now, the Buffalo Bills seem to mirror this situation: players looking to each other for encouragement and support in a seemingly futile attempt to fight back, resulting in a blank stare as if gazing into an abyss, seeking answers only to be met with darkness and silence.
Amid confusion and bewilderment, there emerges a kind of fear—
Not the fear of losing, but the fear of not knowing how to contend with the Kansas City Chiefs, a fear of being unable to shake them even slightly despite giving it their all, and being directionless and answerless in facing future challenges.
The feeling is as if one has given 200% effort, only for it to vanish without a trace, unable to make even a ripple, left unsure of their standing—a sense of chaos where turning and fleeing seems the only path to stability.
In the world of competitive sports, this not only signifies defeat but also a loss of courage to confront and fight; the game is lost before it even starts.
So... what now?
Questions, spreading in the cold misty rain, tightly gripping the hearts of the Buffalo Bills players.
In the air, Li Wei keenly detected the scent of fear.
He knew this was the opportunity.
All of this did not stem from the excellent performance of the Kansas Chiefs Offense; everyone in the league knows the Kansas Chiefs hold a top-tier offense, and it’s natural for them to perform well—this is already an accepted fact among the team, players, and even fans.
Instead, it came from the dominant performance of the Kansas City Chiefs Defense, particularly Watt’s almost celestial performance that completely suppressed Josh Allen.
This was one of the best performances by Watt in two or three seasons.
In terms of ability and form, it still doesn’t match the peak, as the body is no longer twenty-five years old; however, the overall spirit has sharply changed, with body response, focus, observation and judgment, will and determination all vividly felt in Watt’s explosiveness.
It seems that the disturbances and obstacles both inside and outside the field from the Las Vegas Raiders, Houston Texans, and Buffalo Bills have instead become a driving force, awakening Watt’s competitive state.
Sacking and effective pressure numbers are just a facade; what truly matters is the vigor Watt demonstrated—the confidence and firmness, the courage and resolve to push forward, briefly shaking off the concerns of injury and the Houston Texans’ troubles, fighting all-in on each defensive play.
A Watt like this is terrifying, and no one wants to face a Watt acting purely on instinct and intuition, taking a gamble with all-out effort—no one.
Including Li Wei himself.
Fortunately, this Watt is a problem for the Buffalo Bills, causing them to become bewildered, losing focus in their eyes and direction in their minds. Josh Allen, the key figure in Buffalo Bills’ rise over the last two seasons, has now vanished.
Mixed fear and panic overall assaulting the ambitious Buffalo Bills—
This is also the cost of youth.
The heavy rain continues to pour, but Li Wei doesn’t care. He stands up early, leaves the rain shelter, and comes to the sideline, raising his right hand to high-five the returning defensive group players one by one.
A sack. An interception.
The defensive group completes a brilliant series, deserving all the praise.
Once finishing with Watt, Li Wei bumps shoulders and pats his back after the high-five, showing support through his actions under the heavy rain instead of words.
Watt sensed it.
In the rain and fog, eye contact doesn’t work; Watt bumps Li Wei’s shoulder and loudly shouts into his ear, "Crush them."
Clearly, Li Wei and Watt see the same thing, sharply detecting the shift in game atmosphere and momentum, with the door to victory wide open.
Finally, after just completing the interception, Matty runs back and gives Li Wei a hug, "Sorry, the positioning was just so-so."
Li Wei laughed.
After the interception, Matty attempts to return the play, but due to the rain, his footing slipped, and he ultimately couldn’t push forward much, only securing a midfield starting position for the Kansas Chiefs.
In hindsight, Matty himself is most regretful about it, wishing he could have done more amid the heavy rain to gain a better starting position for the offense.
Li Wei didn’t say much, "Leave it to us."
Upon finishing, the Kansas Chiefs Offense has already geared up, collectively entering the field, ready to extend the lead further and decisively crush the Buffalo Bills.
The rain mist surrounds, dreamlike, resembling a legendary fairyland, but truly being in it doesn’t feel as wonderful.
Cold and wet, the whole body feels uncomfortable.
Li Wei pounds his heart firmly, constantly jumping on the spot to maintain body temperature, getting ready to fight.
In the broadcast room, it’s evident to the observers: despite the visibility being unclear, the continuous pressure and stern stance of the Kansas Chiefs can still be felt. 𝐟𝗿𝐞𝚎𝚠𝐞𝚋𝕟𝐨𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝕔𝕠𝚖
"The Buffalo Bills crisis isn’t over yet."
"Or perhaps it’s just beginning now."
"The Kansas City Chiefs are ready to seize the opportunity to keep breaking the young opponent’s confidence, with the first challenge lying before the Buffalo Bills being Li Wei."
"The rainfall has slightly reduced now, but visibility remains poor, coupled with water on the ground, limiting the tactical choices for the offensive group—both for the Kansas City Chiefs and the Buffalo Bills, although both teams are attempting to pass, the run game remains the foundation for everything."
"The Kansas City Chiefs are full of confidence in their ground offense, and they will continue to adapt to the run game as the breakthrough method."
"In other words, Li Wei."
"This brings the issue to the forefront. Andy Reid doesn’t disguise or calculate, laying it out clearly for the Buffalo Bills to solve."
"Unfortunately, the issue is that the Buffalo Bills have no answer."
