District 42-Chapter 342: The man who will end the war

MMA and Casper were positioned beside the bed which Brenna was on top.

Her body was the same as always. Nearly all the harm that she suffered while in that battle got healed quickly. Actually, together with Freygar and Rurik, she was the less Aesir with less damage.

"Even though so much time passed, she is still in a coma? It doesn’t make sense at all. I thought that she would be better at this point!"

MMA nodded his head. He thought the same once he saw Brenna like that for the first time.

He was sure that she would recover quickly, particularly because it was an issue related to her mind. It didn’t seem that way, but Brenna had total control of her mind and thoughts. Otherwise, she wouldn’t be able to be a Clairvoyant.

She was an experiment of District 42 since she was a kid. The person with the most powerful mind. She had a power that no one could match or copy.

The only problem was her mental issues that came along with that power, but it also made her more human. If she was to think like an adult, she would be a danger to District 42 rather than an ally.

Anyway, precisely because of her mental prowess, anyone would expect that a coma wouldn’t be an issue for her, particularly because she was in that state not because of physical harm but due to the skill of one of those Vanirs.

However, Brenna never came back.

When talking to Rurik, MMA discovered something interesting, nonetheless. Something that made him get as proud of Brenna as he was of the others.

"When I was talking with the healers taking care of her, including Rurik, they pointed out that she was in a coma because one of those Vanirs could mess in her mind. Right now, she is passing for a simulation, as if she was in some sort of pocket dimension inside her mind, or then a very realistic dream. They don’t know the characteristics of this ’dream’, but it can trigger some reactions of her brain, and one of them is pain and exhaustion, for example."

While hearing all of that, Casper reasoned about that matter.

The soldier was trying to sort out how they could overcome the power of all the other Vanirs if they needed to clash against them again.

Loki relied on poison. That smoke of his seemed to be developed to get controlled by him. It was dense. However, it wouldn’t work just as well when in a place that wasn’t closed like the dome.

Leo’s most incredible power was the Indigo Energy that he had inside him, which upped his physical prowess. His destructive power was enough to give Rurik a hard time when he was getting beaten, and it was reflected in the technology of damage absorption that he implemented on his gloves.

Casper supposed that, despite Rurik or Ivar, no one was capable to kill that man.

Besides, there was Camilla, whose power was still a mystery, if she really had one.

Tein’s ability was something related to fire, but Casper could only assume that he had a terrifying destructive power.

Ivar couldn’t remember most of their fight. Apparently, his memories were coming back slowly as time passed.

Nonetheless, the only Vanir that they didn’t have any information about was the one that fought against Brenna.

Now, Casper was sure that her ability was something very similar to hypnosis. Upon hearing Brenna’s condition, that was the only conclusion that he could come up with.

"Ok, I got that Brenna is still under the effect of the Vanir’s power. So what?"

"I said that she was complicated before. That’s because she isn’t in rehabilitation like the other Aesirs. She is still fighting inside her mind with that Vanir during all this time. She he chose to keep fighting regardless of the defeat of her friends and hold this battle as much as possible."

Casper got flabbergasted after he realized what was happening there. The shock made him stutter.

"I-Is that so? You guys don’t stop to surprise me..." He approached more the bed, looking at her calm face. She didn’t seem like someone who was fighting a fierce battle inside her mind.

"Why doesn’t she just come out of this loop? What good does it make for her?"

MMA denied, shaking his head.

"That’s not about what is good for her or not. She is doing it for our sake because she knows that the Vanir that is fighting against her is the one that can turn the tables of this war."

The soldier turned to MMA, frowning.

"Are you saying that her power is such that she can cause problems to everyone?"

The Boss nodded. His indifferent expression didn’t display the seriousness of that situation, but Casper could understand what he meant.

"Yes. You see, all the other Aesirs rely on their physical power. Some of them have brilliant minds, but none have the same control as Brenna has on their consciousness. This means that, if this Aesir do the same with them, they wouldn’t deal with it the way she did. Brenna figured it out and preferred to drag this fight as much as possible and give us time to plan our next moves."

Casper widened his eyes once he realized something.

"That’s the other reason why you put a short deadline for our rehabilitation and preparation..."

"Exactly. One month is my gamble for Brenna’s defeat. I am sure that she won’t be able to go through more than this. Hence, that’s why the others are trying so hard. I told it for all of them, and now is your turn. I know about your potential as well, White warrior. And, after you serve us for a reasonable time, I can tell that you intend to do the right thing.

"Brenna also told me a lot about you, which makes me think that I am safe when trusting in you."

Casper tilted his head in confusion.

’What does Brenna knows about me?’

"She said that you would end with THIS war. You are the man that will do it."

The White warrior’s expression got serious and resolute once he heard his words, he felt a huge responsibility falling on his shoulders.

Anyway, MMA didn’t tell him the other part of her prediction.

"A White warrior will come from the skies, end with THIS war... and start another! Crazy, no?" Her voice echoed in his mind.
