Chapter 321: Support base

It lasted three whole days for the support base to settle completely. After all, they needed a lot of time to make the rest of the tents and set enough beds to put all the people who were harmed.

It was a struggle even to get enough resources to feed and treat all the survivors of that attack. Also, since there were so many individuals there, they needed to get a bunch of supplies and materials, which made it even harder.

At some point, the Ridires needed to take food and materials forcefully because the merchants were refusing to give them any, even if they paid for this. Some people were designed to steal some things from merchants and the houses of some wealthier people. Also, they communicated all the Jarls that lived outside the Castle, in the midwest region, to help them with that issue.

Set the camp to bear all those people was hard, but keep their basic necessities was even more troublesome.

Even if they could get so many supplies for the support base, it wasn’t enough yet. The portions split between those people were small and there were just a few meals that were served to them.

In the middle of all that chaos, the ones who were in charge of everything and needed to take responsibility for the organization and administration of that place were going crazy already.

So many problems appeared throughout those days that they were imagining if it wouldn’t be easier if they just died on that attack, so they wouldn’t need to clean all that mess.

Their minds were exploding with such pressure. They didn’t stop to make calls, talk to people, make decisions, solve problems, and receive bad news.

Rurik and Freygar, who were the only Aesirs that weren’t as harmed as the others, were part of that group of people doing administration of that place.

Freygar was nearly drowning in so many papers that he needed to analyze and sign, also as the inventory of food that was his responsibility. He was also trying to solve a problem with one of the few healing centers of District 42 that was outside the Castle. They weren’t willing to give certain medicines to treat those people, because it was needed for the rest of the population.

The Cloned Aesir nearly lost his cool and snapped at them. However, he knew that he couldn’t let go of diplomacy there. That Healing Center was one of the few that could provide the right resources to the support base.

While Freygar talked nonstop on the phone and also signed some papers, all of that with a huge administrative group inside a tent, Rurik was running here and there in that place.

The Immortal Aesir was busier than ever before. His face was pale because of those three nights without sleeping. He was working nonstop since the day he saw Vick so hurt. He also managed to turn that place into a reasonable location to treat patients, settle survivors, and keep them safe and well-cared.

If not for Rurik, that place would still be the same mess as it was before. Thankfully, now it had a better structure and could afford such a high quantity of people.

’Damn... Why did I enter this mess!? If I had kept my mouth shut and just worked as the average person, I wouldn’t be running right now!’ He had a heavy white box in his hands as he crossed that place at a high speed.

His vision was blurry and he had a strong headache. It was all due to his lack of sleep and rest. He didn’t have a single break after 37 hours of work. When he got a break, he couldn’t sleep because of the numerous things that were bothering his mind. It was difficult to settle when he was in such a position.

He got to one of the tents, giving to a healer that white box. From there, the healer took a medicine carefully, then a syringe.

"Thank you, Rurik. I will assume from now on." He said, taking some of that liquid with the special syringe and going to apply it to the patient. 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮

"I think that there is a capsule that we brought here that is defective, so the healers can’t use it to fast heal some of the patients. They said that you knew how to fix it." One of the nurses pointed out before the red-haired man left that place.

"Sure. I will see what it is in a minute." He said with a weak and demotivated voice.

’I really wasn’t made for this kind of pace on my life, c’mon! I complained a lot about my life before, but it is way too much to bear now...’

He was going to hurry to the tent where they settled the Healing Capsules but was stopped before he could even start to do so when someone called him.

"What’s it now!?" He asked, on the verge of tears. That was overbearing.

"Rurik..." Casper called as he grabbed on his arm and looked desperately into his eyes. The body of the White warrior was wrapped all over with bandages. "It’s Vick. She just woke up!"

The Immortal Aesir got shocked at first. He was paralyzed in the same place, not knowing what to think.

"And not just her, but Ari and Canute seem to be reacting again. I think that they will wake up as well!" Casper was both worried and excited about that matter.

All those three days were filled with anxiety because they didn’t wake up no matter how excellent was the treatment they were getting. Particularly in Ari’s case, because it was a struggle to find a way to nullify the effects of that poison in his blood flow.

Those three waking up nearly at the same time seemed to be a miracle for that Aesir.

Rurik stayed quiet for another second, absorbing that information.

"I will call Freygar. You go first and make sure to keep an eye on them."

Casper nodded and then walked off. Rurik hurriedly took his smartphone.
