District 42-Chapter 299: Defeat part 2
Freygar was looking flabbergasted at that scene, just like all the warriors around that place. He couldn’t take that such thing was happening. The ultimate project of the Main laboratory, which was being managed for all the other three laboratories in a partnership, was in front of him.
He couldn’t imagine what kind of calamity would befall them if they stayed at that place. For him, it was almost a suicidal movement of the Frelsi. However, his enemies wouldn’t just make such a movement when they were so close to reaching their major goal, which was to reach the Royal Family. They were prepared for that surprise, of course.
Jomurgand wasn’t just a wild animal that they freed and left it wandering around the Castle in order to destroy everything that appeared in his sight. No, they planned that attack minutely for years, making use of the most intelligent and skillful people in District 42. They used all their energy and resources to make it happen.
That giant robot snake wasn’t acting on its own at all, just doing nonsensical decisions. That frightening creation of the Castle was now under the Frelsis’ control. During their infiltration on the laboratories of that place, working in the shadows among the people that were doing their part on project Jomurgand, the Frelsi could hack the system of that weapon without anyone noticing.
Jomurgand had half of its body raised on the air, looking down on everyone as if it was a god subduing the weak humans under his control and will. Its blue eyes were somehow creepy. That snake smelled death and despair.
Its body was covered in blood, wreckage, and other remnants of what was Uppsala before. It was analyzing the people who it should and shouldn’t eat or just kill, also as the constructions that it must prevent to destroy.
’I don’t know what happened down there, but if this snake passed on all the floors before going here, then a slaughter must have happened on the Castle.’ Freygar thought.
He looked with anger toward Camilla, who he knew as Rat currently. He gritted his teeth with such strength, that he thought that his jaw could break. His eyes had crazy wrath inside of them.
In all those years of work in the Castle, needing to face the cruelest criminals that once tried to go against the rules, Freygar never got so angry. The only person he thought was capable to make him get upset was Casper, but he was wrong; now, at the deepest bottom of his being, he felt the true hatred for someone.
It was a reasonable thing. After all, he was about to see all the warriors that fought beside him be massacred by that metallic monster in front of them. The place where he was born and learned to appreciate and love probably got thoroughly destroyed. To add to it, his greatest enemy was going to accomplish his goals, and the dimensions of the consequences caused by their actions were unimaginable.
As wrath dominated his heart, Freygar yelled so loudly that his lungs seemed to be about to explode. His expression was filled with hatred, which couldn’t be seen because of his mask, but one could feel it from far away.
His voice echoed through the floor, it reached the ears of every person inside that place. He just stopped to yell when his throat was nearly bleeding due to the effort. Freygar punched the floor as he kneeled on the ground.
The Frelsis began to retrieve back now that they got the chance. The snake just ignored them, letting the group pass by her without even glancing at them. It was focused only on the Ridires.
As it was extremely sensible not just for heat, but also for sounds, it got specially glazed at Freygar.
The Frelsis gathered behind Camilla. All of them were perplexed by her appearance. There wasn’t even a single person in the Frelsis who knew about her true identity, except some superiors and Javir himself.
She got some steps closer to Freygar but keeping enough distance not to let him get any openings to reach her.
Camilla stared at his eyes, narrowing. She didn’t say anything at first, nor gave any command to the snake. She just kept quiet for a moment.
Freygar didn’t know her objective, but then nostalgia struck his mind and he noticed the reason behind it.
"You did this exact same thing before killing mom, didn’t you? You looked intently at his eyes, holding your weapon, as if you were superior to him, then killed him, right? That’s the same thing that Ivar, the Fenrir, did when killing Drott as well as far as they told me. It’s some kind of a tradition when you are going to execute someone after a duel or when judging them, to show honor and superiority."
Freygar nodded his head. He didn’t have fear in his eyes, just acceptance, and anger. He wasn’t frightened about his upcoming death at all, he only cared about the safety of the things and the people he loved. That was the nature of his wrath. If he could exchange all of that for his life only, he would, but he knew that they wouldn’t do such a thing.
"Yes, that’s right. We killed them just like this."
"You know what? I yelled this same way, had the same eyes, and probably the same expression that you are doing now. When I discovered that even my mom was killed by dogs like you, I couldn’t feel anything but wrath, I didn’t have even the chance to get sad or mourn for my mom’s death. That’s your fault."
Freygar just lowered his head, not wanting to talk anymore.
Camilla continued looking at him bitterly.
After a minute, she pressed a button on her watch.
"Kill all of them. I don’t want even I single drop of their dirty blood on the ground." She uttered.
The snake opened its mouth, doing something like a machinery roar, then advancing quickly towards them.
The warriors didn’t have the time to stand up and run. Their legs weren’t working as they should. Some of them were even trying, but couldn’t do so.
Freygar closed his eyes and just waited for what was about to come.
