District 42-Chapter 300: Frelsis’ objective part 1
Freygar had accepted his death. He closed his eyes, cursing that woman that was in front of him, and swearing that, if he could somehow survive, he would chase her until the last day of his life.
When he felt that the snake was getting closer and closer, he breathed in deeply, waiting for his death to come. Even after he was gone, he would never forget that wrath that was dominating his heart.
’Everyone, I am sorry. I couldn’t fulfill my duty as an Aesir. Now, people who I love will suffer because I wasn’t strong enough again.’ The bitterness in his thoughts was what made him feel the most agonizing pain in his heart.
Nonetheless, when the heat of Jomurgand’s body already reached him and the sounds of machinery filled his ears, Freygar felt that his body was... falling.
At first, he couldn’t believe what was happening, so he opened his eyes. He wondered if he wasn’t going crazy there, or then his mind was playing tricks with him as he was already about to die on the spot.
However, that wasn’t the case. When he looked around, a blue portal looking like a mirror appeared in the surroundings.
’Canute!’ The man was quite surprised that Canute could even get out of the bed in the hospital. He couldn’t believe that his comrade was even moving.
Before getting totally vanished through the portal, he looked to the sides, trying to spot him, but he couldn’t. Wherever he was, it was a good position.
’I can’t believe that this bastard could save us in the last moment! I never doubted that he had potential, this idiot!’
Seconds before that giant robot could reach him or his group, all of them got teleported out of the way.
Camilla saw all of that happening with a look of surprise and anger in her eyes. She couldn’t believe that one of the Aesirs was able to make his way to that place, and it was the most stubborn one.
’Damn it! The only idiot that could mess with our plans is exactly the one wandering around this important floor! How can it be? He should be totally incapacitated at this point, if not dead! Why this little shrimp keeps getting on my way when I am trying to do my things!?’ Her heart nearly stopped when she saw that her vengeance wasn’t going to get accomplished there.
Camilla looked around quickly, trying to spot the stubborn Canute. She swore to herself that, if she could find him, she would kill him this time. The woman wasn’t going to spank him just to make him suffer like the previous time. She was intending to put a bullet directly on his heart and end with that bullshit.
’Before I manage to find you, you better kneel and pray, Aesir. Your life won’t last enough for you to say your last wishes!’
She turned to Jomurgand. The serpent was still looking around confused. Its system was trying to comprehend how her prey ran away so suddenly. It was an incomplete robot, after all. Project Jomurgand was scheduled to end in the next year, only. They decided to do it in advance before they could make a barrier on its system which would turn it impossible for anyone to hack it.
Camilla ordered the serpent to let it go and find other people, except the Frelsi, who was on that floor. She was eager to end with them as quickly as possible. Her focus on Canute wasn’t just out of grudge, but she knew that he was a threat to all their plans.
’Anyway, I don’t need to be in such a rush and end up messing with everything. He probably ran out of Indigo Energy. To make such a big portal, one would need an incredible amount of energy, which is already amazing that he could get. After such measures, it is difficult for him to make anything else other than run around and try to survive by himself.’
While Jomurgand moved through that floor, trying to identify the hiding enemies, she decided to spread all the other Frelsis around. She wanted that the floor was thoroughly occupied, so they wouldn’t have problems with other people appearing suddenly.
"Be attentive. Jomurgand can find something soon. You all have permission to kill anyone, ok? It’s not time to be the good guys here."
It was hard for the group of Frelsis to take orders of someone who they just discovered the face. For them, it was like knowing another person, who by chance was their leader as well. However, they couldn’t falter there; the Frelsis were still in a dangerous and crucial mission, after all.
Camilla’s group answered her orders after a minute of hesitation. She knew that they would act like this, so she didn’t get pissed off.
Rat was a persona that she created in order to lead the New Organization. At some point, it became a person totally different than her; she didn’t feel like acting anymore.
In a way, she was glad that her mask fell. Camilla felt more like herself when it happened, which was a good signal.
Usually, she wouldn’t be so short-tempered as Rat was. And although craziness had dominated her mind after her mother’s death, she was still less mad than Rat was. Actually, Rat was just another mean for her to show all the remaining craziness on her being that she prevented herself to show to the world.
Breathing in and letting Rat, Freygar, Canute, and her anger aside for the time being, she turned to the so desired dream of every Frelsi of the district: the Royal Family’s mansion, which was the place that kept the object that would lead to their freedom.
’After so long, we are finally here, mom. We will take our freedom back, no matter what. I am just some steps away from our five-decade dream.’ With resolution in her eyes, she stepped toward the now defenseless mansion.
