District 42-Chapter 128: Helpless fight
Casper was trying to think in a way to counter Freygar’s exoskeleton. That thing gave him amazing strength and was even unfair how much of a boost he gained with that. If the Aesir remained like that, the soldier wouldn’t be a match for him.
However, it was two times as difficult to keep reasoning with someone sending towards you ferocious powerful combinations. Multi-task is always tough, but in a situation of extreme pressure, it became just unbearable for many.
"I can’t just go and try to aim at his armpit again. Now that this guy knows my main intentions, he will not let me even try to reach his armpit. I can see that he is already prepared for any movements of my part just for his steady stance, which keeps always covering the armpit..." Casper needed to stop to think for a while when dangerous blows tried to reach him. He dodged each one of them. He was getting used to the new speed that Freygar gained with those things, and he could build a good understanding of his patterns as well.
As long as Casper kept analyzing everything, focusing on each second of the battle, and his stamina kept steady, he would just become stronger after each blow. His perception was really high, and his body capacities could match this if he put effort into it, so it was easy for him to make such a reading in Freygar’s movements.
That was the major advantage of the soldier after all. Not a battle based only on strength and firepower, but in intelligence and trickery.
Freygar was also a smart fighter, and every time that Casper could catch up with his strength, speed, and combinations, he would change suddenly his pace to unbalance the soldier and make him falter. Unfortunately for him, Casper was as calm as he was as well, so he would not get desperate because of something like that.
"We can’t stay in a fight like this forever..." Another punch came in his direction, he ducked while delivering one of his own right on Freygar’s stomach. "If he keeps up forcing his arm with such power, he will probably harm it any time, but I also don’t know for how long I will bear this kind of pressure..."
His eyes widened when suddenly the Aesir launched a kick towards his face. That wasn’t something that he had used until that point, and Casper was got by surprise.
"Now! I can use this!" Always maintaining his cool and keep focusing on the possibilities was what made Casper so strong. And that could be a turning point in a battle.
Once he noticed that kick, as he couldn’t dodge, Casper parried Freygar’s leg with his arm. The blow was well done, and his forearm got all numb once it landed there. The soldier followed crouching on the ground while spinning his body and hitting the supporting leg of the Aesir before he could finish the kick’s motion.
The creep he gave in Freygar was just perfect. He was sure that he even could cause great harm to his ankle. It had much power behind, making his legs fly upwards, and he slammed his shoulder on the ground.
Once his shoulder felt the impact, the Aesir realized what Casper had done. He didn’t hear the same cracking sound as before, but he was sure that the exoskeleton would be defective now.
He raised from the ground quickly, ignoring the dizziness in his mind. Casper stood with him, preparing for any more attacks.
"It seems that you are quite sharp today..." Freygar commented, taking off the coat of his uniform and throwing it on the ground. He wore off the shattered exoskeletons. "But that’s just the start, White warrior."
Casper giggled.
"Do you think so? If we keep dancing like this, I am sure that I will have the advantage." He had a petulant smile on his face and raised one brow.
"I think that you didn’t understand what’s happening here, Casper. We aren’t in a competition or something like this. I know that we do have personal issues here, but that’s not what we are aiming for." Once he finished his statement, Casper spotted one of the warriors smashing the face of a prisoner with inhuman strength.
"They are also using those exoskeletons! I didn’t think about it at the time when I saw this Aesir using one, but it was obvious!" He looked with furious eyes towards Freygar, clenching his fists. What disturbed him more was the lack of any regret in his eyes. Casper could have killed a lot of people throughout his life, but he always found those lives to be a burden he would carry for the rest of his life. He couldn’t understand how someone could take lives so lightly like that.
"You know what will happen with you if you kill all these prisoners, right?" The soldier asked, with a stiff voice.
"Yes. I know. I will be complimented, because I am only following orders."
After that quote Casper rushed forward, the Aesir didn’t have time to advance or retrieve, so he stayed there, waiting for him. The soldier struck him in the chin with a well-targeted punch that sent his head flying back, and did not stop to attack afterward.
The Aesir was dancing around that corridor with him, dodging his attacks and retaliating when he could. That guy was taller than Casper and had more facility to take distance and use the space around him to move swiftly, so the soldier had a clear disadvantage if he kept resorting to a middle-range fight.
Freygar stopped to move suddenly at times, just when Casper was about to attack him, and countered his punch with perfect timing. A well-executed counter was a punch that could have two times the strength of a normal one. It was dangerous.
"This guy isn’t too good at infighting, but he can pull through with his calmness and swiftness and bring up this type of fighting style... And I was certain that I had at least cracked his ankle, is he just bearing the pain or it hadn’t the effect I supposed?"
The soldier kept pressing as he could, missing his blows by inches. That sort of fight was making him get tired quickly, but he needed to maintain Freygar retrieving if he wanted to turn that battle.
"Will you just pay attention to me, Casper? Look around. Your men are being crushed by ours, and we aren’t even with our full troops. That’s what lack of resources do with warriors, they don’t have options. And now we will execute every person here and you can’t do anything instead chase after me like an idiot."
Casper finally stopped to rush against him, taking this time to recover his breath again. Freygar was several meters away from him.
That man was trying to enter in his mind with those bitter words, that had a good amount of truth behind them.
The White warrior couldn’t deny at all that what was happening there was a helpless situation, at least if he kept acting like a crazy brawler like he was.
"I think you understood things wrongly here, Freygar..." The Aesir tilted slightly his head to the side not understanding quite what Casper was saying to him.
"Do you really think that I am taking this fight as a competition? I do have my grudge against you, but that’s not what all this action is resumed, indeed. I mean, I said to you before, right? I would fight fair and square with you, but if I might die, I would play dirty."
Freygar’s eyes changed once he heard those words. All his body got in alert state, and his eyes darted around and analyzed the situation to know what could happen.
"Do you think that I am naive to the point of having an entire army of prisoners, but just using a small amount against you? You really didn’t learn how clever I am, did you?" Casper slowly put his hand in the master key, which was hidden inside the pocket of the green lab coat he was wearing.
He pressed a button there, the holographic keyboard appeared in front of him, and when Freygar realized what was going on, he pressed a button there.
At first, nothing happened. The Aesir was in the middle of the motion he was doing when trying to run and prevent Casper to do whatever he wanted to, and remained like that for a while, froze, expecting something to come.
"Why make an advantage of 2 prisoners to 1 Ridire if I can do a 4 to 1, huh?" He grinned to Freygar, and it was when the sounds of a hasty march could be heard through the corridors.
He looked with his eyes widened towards Casper, realizing what was going on.
"That’s how you vanished all my troops... All this place, everywhere, is filled with..."
"Yeah, I got you... And that’s how I play dirty." Then Casper made a signal, and all the prisoners engaged in combat started to retrieve.
