Disaster Apocalypse: Farming, Family, and My Hidden Secret Space-Chapter 126. Seeing Off an Official
Chapter 126: 126. Seeing Off an Official
The practice of controlling thoughts is actually quite simple. It’s about exhausting your thoughts every time until you reach the point of a splitting headache, which indicates mental exhaustion. At this point, you need to rest, drink some water, and eat something, then you can recover after a short break.
Each time you recover, your mind becomes a bit stronger. However, this kind of training is very challenging in terms of willpower; people with weak willpower simply cannot endure it.
After a winter of practice, Hua Jin has gone from being unable to withstand the feeling of a splitting headache to handling it without even changing her expression.
But today’s high-intensity practice was a first for her.
In the past, she rarely practiced until she had a splitting headache, mainly because she wasn’t inclined towards self-torture.
Now that she thought about it, she realized she had been too lenient with herself, otherwise, she wouldn’t need to engage in such urgent training for several hours, even though it was just a last-minute effort.
Only when she could send someone flying a dozen or so yards did Hua Jin stop.
Today she truly exceeded expectations; in a short period of time, her control extended over two additional yards, knowing full well how much time it took for the previous progress.
...This distance should be sufficient.
By the time their ox cart stops a dozen or so yards away and unloads the people, they should depart immediately without being noticed.
Next, there’s the writing of the charges. Hua Chengtian couldn’t help with this either; although he learned a few characters from his son during his free time, his scrawl wasn’t presentable. Helping his daughter grind ink was the only thing he could do for now.
The pen, ink, paper, and inkstone were in his daughter’s blessed land space. The father and daughter began writing in the ox cart, one grinding while the other held the pen.
Months of practice finally paid off. Hua Jin’s handwriting improved from initially unbearable to now being acceptable. Even so, Hua Chengtian felt immense pride, thinking his daughter’s handwriting was excellent.
Hua Jin didn’t know how to write a formal charge, never having done it before. To her, just writing down the misdeeds of those people was enough, along with the most crucial evidence: a rag soaked in knockout drug.
They had already tested it themselves; the rag indeed contained the drug. Placing it over the nose only took a few breaths to make two grown men motionless.
Then they stuffed the rag and the written charges into the men’s clothing, after which the ox cart emerged from the bamboo forest. After observing to ensure no concealment, they went straight past the main road in front of the government office.
Calculating the distance, the ox cart slowed down, and two tightly bound men suddenly appeared behind a pillar not far from the patrolling government officials. By the time the officials noticed the abnormality, half a cup of tea had passed, and they were already gone without a trace.
Seeing the two tightly bound men behind the pillar, the officials on duty broke out in a cold sweat in broad daylight.
They hadn’t dared to leave their post for even a moment, diligently performing their duties. Yet, the two men appeared behind them without anyone noticing—a haunting occurrence in broad daylight!
Thinking about it sends shivers down their spines...
Then they discovered the men were alive, and upon searching them, they found a rolled rag and a paper with the charges written on it.
The head official recognized a few words and immediately thought of the tricky cases recently troubling the government office—disappearance cases, all involving attractive young girls. After days of investigation, they hadn’t found a single clue. Seeing the charges, joy sparkled in his eyes, feeling like good fortune had finally landed upon him. Without delay, he personally brought the two bound men into the office.
Meanwhile, Hua Jin and her father had already meandered onto the main street.
The father and daughter felt unburdened, thinking this was quite good.
Now that they had delivered the people to the authorities, it was no longer their concern. As long as there were charges, surely even a fool would conduct an interrogation.
Letting them experience the suffering of imprisonment lifted Hua Jin’s spirits.
As for potential retaliation, she hadn’t thought about it, nor was she afraid. New Moon City was vast; finding someone would be incredibly difficult. Besides, they were just country folks, living a hundred miles away from the city.
Solving a major problem made both father and daughter feel good. Seeing there was still time, they decided to wander around more, especially the medical clinics and pharmacies.
Once evening approached, they’d find an inn near the city gate to stay overnight, planning to leave early the next morning.
Hua Chengtian usually followed his daughter’s lead; if she wanted to go to a pharmacy, they’d go. He assumed she wanted to stock up on medicine for colds and fevers, considering their home was quite a distance from the town and they usually kept herbal remedies at home, so he wasn’t surprised.
However, upon entering the pharmacy and hearing his daughter request various rare drugs and knockout medicine, he felt uneasy.
He immediately thought of the two villains; how could his gentle, sweet-natured daughter come up with such an idea? They were entirely to blame.
Hua Chengtian felt delivering those two to the authorities was too lenient; he should have taken them to the back mountains of their village to feed the wild beasts, making better use of them.
But considering his child’s blessed land space, he didn’t voice any objections. The kid’s thinking wasn’t wrong; stocking some of these medicines might prove useful.
Unfortunately, they had entered a more legitimate clinic, which carried all kinds of regular medicines but no rare ones.
They didn’t find any special medicines at the first clinic but did buy a lot for colds and coughs, so it wasn’t a total failure.
Then they moved on to the second clinic, only to encounter the same situation again.
Even the clerks in the clinic looked at them strangely, as if buying such medicines meant they were up to no good, the caution evident in their eyes.
They continued their search. Fortunately, the large county had numerous clinics, unlike their small town with just a couple that, when closed, left the sick to fend for themselves.
Finally, before dusk, they found the special medicines—knockout drugs, itching powder, laxatives, and various other rare medicines—in a relatively secluded pharmacy in the west of the city.
The process of buying the medicine was somewhat arduous, leading Hua Jin to purchase a lot at once, which Hua Chengtian didn’t stop. He trusted his daughter’s judgment, plus storing them in the blessed land space left nothing to worry about.
This time, they weren’t met with cold stares. The shopkeeper didn’t ask many questions; though slightly curious about the large quantity they bought, he only scrutinized them a bit. No curiosity could rival the importance of Silver, otherwise, they wouldn’t sell rare medicines.
The rare items were naturally costly, and after confirming the potency, they spent over a dozen taels of Silver for a sizable batch.
Hua Chengtian felt these medicines might last a lifetime, causing his eye to twitch uncontrollably, but seeing his daughter’s pleasing smile, what could a father do but carry the goods to the ox cart for her to store in the blessed land space.
Hua Jin, on the other hand, was very pleased. Despite feeling a bit fearful over the morning’s events, it wasn’t entirely negative. At least it confirmed the efficacy of her space, and they bought so many medicines at night, which she joyfully stored.
She felt even more confident now, knowing that she could handle unexpected situations in the future.
