Dig Up the Sun Emperor's Legacy: I Build an Invincible Undead Legion-Chapter 121: I Like You Too
Chapter 121: I Like You Too
After finishing the transformation, Diliya looked at Carlos expectantly.
She thought: I look exactly like the woman in the investigator token projection now—why won’t he let me down?
Actually, even though this woman had proven her investigator identity, Carlos still didn’t completely trust her.
After all, who knew if she might be playing both sides?
What if she was openly an undercover agent for the Rock Sand City garrison but secretly a sleeper agent for the Golden Sand Society?
Though the odds were slim, it wasn’t out of the question.
However, while he couldn’t completely trust her, her life was temporarily off the chopping block.
"Let her down."
He believed her!
Diliya felt pumped, and in a daze, the Dark Purple Force Field around her suddenly vanished.
Back on solid ground, breathing the ’long-lost’ ’free’ air.
The mixed smell of blood from her buddies and the stench of sand lizard blood made Diliya’s eyes involuntarily water up.
Not easy! Not easy!
I, Diliya, made it through!!!
Suddenly, she felt a familiar greedy gaze checking her out.
In an instant, her already pale face became even whiter.
The monster beside the boss was staring hard at her hands, its eyeballs filled with greed and hunger.
...
At this moment, Purple Vortex felt both bummed out and pumped up.
Bummed out because those gorgeous black nails that suited it so well were gone.
Pumped up because this woman had grown new nails on her hands!
Though the color was different and they gave off a completely different vibe, they were both so perfect—they hit Purple Vortex right in the sweet spot.
Its brain kicked into gear, realizing that nails grew from hands. If it got hold of these hands...
The burning greed in its eyeballs made Diliya’s blood turn to ice.
She sneakily moved her hands behind her back...
Purple Vortex was puzzled—where did the hands go?
Before she could breathe easy, a bone-chilling feeling came from behind.
She stiffly turned her head.
The monster that had been in front of her was now behind her!
Those pair of creepily rolling eyeballs were staring at her hands again!
"This is bad news!"
Diliya felt an intense sense of danger.
She tentatively moved her hands from behind to in front, slowly shifting them.
Sure enough, this monster moved almost in sync, always eyeballing her hands.
"My damned charm!"
Diliya felt both ticked off and weirdly proud.
But being targeted by such a terrifying monster was pretty ominous.
She turned her pleading gaze to the masked person in front of her. Without speaking, she just looked at him ’pitifully.’
But her beautiful eyes seemed to be saying:
Sir, why aren’t you keeping this ’pet’ of yours on a leash?
Combined with her soft face, it really gave one an urge to protect her.
Unfortunately, she’d run into Carlos, who was completely immune to this expression that was devastatingly effective on green young men.
Carlos didn’t have time to mess around with her and gave her a look that said ’pipe down.’
The smile froze on Diliya’s face as she silently backed off.
"How should I handle this investigator?"
Carlos felt somewhat irritated.
First, he definitely couldn’t just let her waltz back like this, because he couldn’t be sure if she really had no skeletons in her closet.
If she was a double agent, she’d definitely rat him out to the Golden Sand Society after returning.
When he went to deal with the Golden Sand Society later, it would inevitably create more headaches.
It would be best to keep this wild card under control before he finished dealing with the Golden Sand Society.
Carlos had a rough plan for her.
However, before making arrangements, he still had a small matter to ask about.
"Diliya, where is the treasure you mentioned earlier?"
Diliya, who was playing a ’hide the hands’ game with Purple Vortex, heard Carlos’s question.
A flash of conflict appeared in her eyes, then disappeared.
She pointed to a broken wall not far away:
"Over there, the treasure entrance is under there."
Diliya so readily spilled the beans about the treasure’s location mainly because she wanted to get on the masked person’s good side, so he’d rein in this monster that had the hots for her hands!
"Go dig it up!"
Carlos waved his hand, and several tall Shield Guards began violent excavation work. Sand and gravel flew as rumbling sounds continued...
Time ticked by. The deeper they dug, the bigger the pit became, but they hadn’t even caught a glimpse of a single gold coin.
Carlos looked at Diliya with a questioning gaze:
"The treasure is down here?"
"That’s what Kitz said."
Standing by the pit edge, Diliya looked red-faced.
"He’s a right-hand man of the Golden Sand Society president and knows the treasure’s exact location."
After a pause, Diliya added:
"Maybe the treasure is buried pretty deep."
That made sense... but not much. ƒrēenovelkiss.com
Carlos looked away and continued having the Shield Guards dig.
Time dragged on...
The pit was already deep as a well, and forget treasure—they hadn’t even found a single rare mineral.
"Alright, everyone come up."
Carlos had the Shield Guards stop digging.
Diliya stood by the huge pit, her expression getting more embarrassed by the minute.
"Sir... sir, that snake Kitz actually gave us a phony location!"
She quietly defended herself while cursing inwardly:
Damn it!
Who would have thought that thick-browed, honest-looking Kitz had his own angle and deliberately gave a bogus location!
What was he trying to pull!
Diliya wished she could dig Kitz out of the sand lizards’ bellies to give him a piece of her mind.
Now instead of improving her standing, it had probably tanked.
With the monster ’eyeing her like a hawk’ nearby, once no one kept this creepy monster in check, Diliya had no doubt she’d be missing most of her body parts.
She was really afraid this masked person would suspect her of spinning tales, get steamed, and let that monster loose...
Carlos wasn’t hot under the collar.
Combined with the black-robed figure who’d acted on the sly earlier, he had a hunch that this woman’s team had probably been used as cannon fodder.
The treasure’s location should be the chamber where the Silver Thornblade clan sword was located.
Thinking of this, Carlos’s gaze toward Diliya couldn’t help but carry a trace of pity.
This pitying look immediately made Diliya panic, her hands fluttering with nowhere to land.
"..."
The corner of Carlos’s mouth twitched slightly under his mask.
He was a champion of justice—how could he possibly let Purple Vortex attack her?
He spoke to put her at ease:
"Don’t worry, Purple Vortex won’t lay a finger on you."
"Purple Vortex?"
Diliya realized this was the name of the monster beside her.
Hearing this woman call its name, Purple Vortex responded:
"Roar!"
Then it flashed her a brilliant smile to show friendliness.
It’s just that the corner of its mouth stretched a bit too wide, accidentally reaching its ears.
Its eyeballs were nearly popping out, looking somewhat horrifying.
Seeing this scene, Diliya’s brain short-circuited and went blank.
Carlos explained for Purple Vortex:
"Purple Vortex is saying hello. It likes you a whole lot."
Indeed, Purple Vortex really liked this woman... her hands... and nails.
"Thank you... I like you too..."
Diliya showed a smile that looked like she was in pain as she reluctantly accepted Purple Vortex’s goodwill.
