Demonic Skeleton God-Chapter 134: Chief Flain
Chapter 134: Chief Flain
"You just need to renounce the magical map and give it to someone. At least that’s what the head bandit told me," said the bandit.
"Alright, then renounce it and give it to me," said Flain.
The bandit started trembling. "But if I give it to you, the chief will kill me for it."
Flain placed a hand on his shoulder. "You don’t have to be a bandit anymore. You can work for me," he said.
Then he turned to the others. "That goes for you too," he said.
"The pay is 20 gold coins a month," he added.
When the bandits heard that, they were so happy they didn’t know what to say. "May I hear your name, chief?"
"Flain," Flain answered.
"Let’s all go. Flain! Flain! Flain!" the bandit stood up and began cheering to the others.
Gradually, they all started raising their hands and cheering. "Flain! Flain! Flain! Flain! Flain! Flain!"
"Tell me your name," Flain said to the bandit with the mace in front of him.
"My name is Sugi, chief," said Sugi.
"Alright, give me that magical map and also some clothing," said Flain. He didn’t quite like that his fake crotch was visible.
Sugi handed him the magical map, and Flain tested it for a moment—it really worked. Flain immediately marked a waypoint on the territory where Dungeon 31 was roughly located so he wouldn’t lose it. He planned to go there later. Then one of the bandits handed Flain some cheap-looking clothing, apologizing that they didn’t have anything better. Flain put it on—better than nothing.
"Alright then, Sugi. Can you tell me what stage your former chief was?" he asked.
"I really don’t know. Since I’m not strong, I only saw him a few times, and I spent most of my time around this area because we also have a camp here," said Sugi.
"Here in the forest? Doesn’t seem like there’d be many people to rob," said Flain.
"There’s a road nearby where quite a few people pass on their way to a nearby town. But in front of us, there’s some area where there are a lot of soldiers from the Empire. I don’t know what it is," said Sugi.
"Chief, may I ask what kind of work we’ll be doing for you?" asked one of the bandits.
"Be my soldiers," said Flain.
The bandits’ hearts leapt—deep down, they had always wanted to be soldiers, but they didn’t have enough talent, so they were never accepted.
They didn’t become adventurers for several reasons. The first is that the Empire of Light doesn’t support adventurers, so public opinion of them isn’t exactly positive. But of course, that wasn’t one of the main reasons—they did become bandits, after all.
Another reason is that the mortality rate of adventurers is quite high even with support, and without it, it’s ten times higher.
The main reason is that the registration fee is 10 gold coins, which is a commoner’s yearly salary. So even if they somehow managed to gather that much money, the job might not suit them, and in their financial state, they definitely couldn’t afford to throw that much money away.
Flain smirked at the thought that these weaklings could become his soldiers. The weakest of Itai’s undead is just as strong as any one of them.
"Alright, take me to the main camp where your former chief resides," said Flain.
This was the true reason he let them live. At first, he only wanted to get a few pieces of information from them and then kill them, but when he learned they belonged to some kind of bandit organization, it sparked his interest. It could be a good EXP farm.
But it depends whether Flain, with his current strength and army, can defeat it. If not, it could be a good EXP farm for the future.
"Are you sure? There are many strong bandits there. I don’t mean to insult you, but it’s not possible for you to handle it alone," said Sugi. freewebnσvel.cøm
"I never said I’m going to fight them. I just want to estimate their strength for the future," said Flain.
"Alright, if we go on foot, we’ll get there in two nights," said Sugi.

They then traveled all day until night. The area they traveled through didn’t have strong monsters, and almost none at all, but occasionally some would appear and Flain killed them with ease — it was free 3,000 EXP.
Itai got along quite well with the bandits and talked with them a lot on the way, even though at first, he was scared of them. Flain also talked but remained focused. Although there were no strong monsters in this part of the forest, there was still a chance they could run into something dangerous.
Even if Flain died, he wouldn’t lose much progress — still, it would be a pointless death, and Flain doesn’t like those.
The first evening came and the bandits made a fire and began roasting meat from monsters that Flain had killed.
Sugi showed Itai a hand-drawn picture that depicted 10 children, each a different age. The picture was drawn only in black and didn’t look very precise.
Cameras were only available to nobles and rich people. That’s why one profession among mortals was a Drafar, who drew people’s portraits. But those portraits were neither detailed nor beautiful because Drafars usually didn’t have many colors available and weren’t very good artists since they always drew almost the same thing.
"This is a picture of my children. The one in the middle is my wife," he said.
"Hey Sugi, pulling that picture out again? Not everyone you meet has to see it," said one of the bandits.
"Shut up, Ortem. At least I have a family unlike you, drowning in debt," said Sugi.
Sugi handed everyone in the circle a cup and poured beer into it. "To our chief, Flain," he said and raised it into the air.
Everyone raised their cups and started drinking, even Flain and Itai. Flain didn’t know how his Skinwalker’s body would react to alcohol, so he wanted to test it.
It seemed to accept it, but Flain felt no taste or effects from the alcohol.
On the other hand, for Itai it was the first time he drank alcohol. Though he worked as a bartender, he never drank because he didn’t want to be drunk at work and was saving money for a better house...
