Chapter 44: Chapter 44: Full Moon Curse (1)

Adrian continued watching Annie for an entire week. Nothing happened of course besides some ugly bastard that kept pestering her.

" I need you to go buy groceries." Meggie stopped him just as he was about to leave the door to go do his daily stal.. protection.

He nodded, she gave him some money and he left. After Annie went to class he went to the store.

Then he saw a newspaper next to the store and the date on it. " Shit, it’s already the end of the month."

He cursed, lately he’d been feeling more irritable but also stronger, this explains it, the full moon was near.

He bought everything on the list and went back home. " I need you to drive me to Moonville."

He told Meggie, she fixed her glasses and continued reading the piece of paper on her hand.

" Hey, excuse me." She finally raised her head and looked at him but he could tell she was distracted.

" What are you reading?" He asked.

" Nothing, what did you want?"

" Can you drive me to Moonville, it’s very important." He asked again but she shook her head.

" No, I can’t today, I have something to take care of."

Adrain frowned, he really needed to go to Moonville but he was a terrible driver, would he really have to run there.

Just as he was about to say something else, Meggie stood up. " You can put the groceries in the kitchen, I’ll be back later so you’ll have to make yourself dinner.

Don’t do something stupid, love you." She kissed him on the forehead and left, Adrain was left there confused.

Her actions were baffling, he wasn’t complaining but she was acting strange and suspicious.

Adrian sighed, he put the groceries in the kitchen and left leaving the house in the hands of the old lady who used to live here alone before they arrived.

The old lady watched him go out and smiled gently before dark fog shrouded her body and she disappeared.

--------------

A day before, Nancy and Bruce arrived at Moonville and went to the closest motel but this was no coincidence.

" Hey hello, We’re the police and we could use your help with something." She flashed her badge at the receptionist.

" Did a young boy named Adrain Lunar stay here?" Nancy asked and the receptionist lady smiled.

" Oh yeah I remember him, he’s a good kid, is he okay? He just up and disappeared one day and left me worried."

Nancy smiled, " Oh he’s mighty fine, now, could you be a dear and check his records for us if you don’t mind."

" Sure." The receptionist opened her book then frowned, " Strange, the book says he was only here for about a week but I clearly remember he stayed with us for a year."

She sounded confused and Nancy immediately understood she had been compelled.

" Thank you sweetie, you’ve been a great help, bye now, if you do see the boy, remember to call me."

They left the motel, leaving the reception confused on how she was supposed to call her when she didn’t even leave her number.

Nancy looked at Bruce, " Well big oof, it seems we have ourselves some vampire type here."

Tnat was her conclusion after seeing that the receptionist was compelled. Vampires were also one of the few Fayera that can be created by turning a normal human.

However she has read the report if Wolf and he claimed the boy was some type of wolf like Fayera and not a vampire.

He could walk under the sun and he also knew the boy can eat normal food, things vampires couldn’t do.

However unless she can confirm him herself, she was more inclined to believe he was a vampire.

" Let’s go." They drove to Adrian’s former house. She took out a compass like the one Wolf had.

Each team carried one, her compass didn’t detect any auras in the house. It had been too long since anybody was here.

If the people loving here were strong then their auras would’ve lingered for much longer.

They decided to stay in this house for the night and they would go back tomorrow after checking out the only two survivors of his encounter.

Morning came and they did exactly that, they went to the cashier at the gas station first and after interviewing her they got nothing.

Then went to the boy named Sam only to find he no longer lived in his former house, and he moved only a few days before their arrival.

According to local gossip the boy had become quite irritable and violent as of late not to mention strong.

While from their recount he wasn’t super strong but he was able to fight three guys and won.

Even though he came out with bruises and a broken nose, he still sent all three of them to the hospital.

Nancy smiled and thought the boy was worth looking into but after searching for a few hours they still did not find him.

They went to the cafe and just as they were about to enter they paused. She took out her compass that was buzzing with warnings.

The esper it was detecting was not too large but it was pure, extremely pure meaning the creature it was feeling was of extremely high grade.

Perhaps a noble vampire, even then it would have to be a count at the very least. " Something is watching us." Bruce whispered.

One of the tattoos on his body lit up, it was the tattoo of a shield. Nancy could see his body shaking.

He was nervous, the only time she had ever seen him like this was when he faced the director for the first time.

It meant whatever was watching them was strong enough to kill him and that terrified her.

While her ability was strong, it wasn’t battle oriented, she was not as strong as he was and depended on his protection.

" He’s here." She whispered softly.

----------------

On top of a building across the street, Adrian was watching the two of them. He knew they were agents, he had seen them before.

He frowned because he knew they were here for him, he wondered if he should kill them then shook his head.

He was not strong enough to deal with the organisation yet and Meggie had warned him multiple times not to mess with them.

He sighed and sniffed the air, he was not here for them. He caught the scent of the one he was was looking for and grinned.
