Demon Prince's Forsaken Bride-Chapter 83: Lareina is dead (1)
On the other side, things were far from optimistic for Lareina who was dragged away by the man. She instinctively took a step back from him but her foot hit a stone, sending them off from a height.
When she looked down, she suddenly realized that she was standing on top of a cliff that seemed bottomless. A thick mist lingered in the air, making it barely visible.
’’You used me as a bargaining chip to escape from him...’’ As she spoke, the coldness seemed to seep into her body, making her tremble, ’’Let me go now and run... He won’t be able to catch up to you...’’
The leader’s face was livid, ’’You arrogant woman... I might not be able to deal with him but how difficult is it for me to deal with you, a puny human?" As he spoke, he confidently removed the dagger from her throat seeing that she had nowhere to escape to. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝚠𝚎𝚋𝗻𝗼𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝚘𝐦
Lareina smiled bitterly, ’’I am about to die here but still it makes me curious. You are willing to risk your life and waste your time here in killing me... And you even desire to kill a prince who has a special status in this realm? How high your ambitions are! Aren’t you afraid of death...’’
The man scoffed and blew on his dagger as he stepped towards Lareina, ’’Since you are about to die, I can sate your curiosity. No matter how mighty the second prince is, there are people who are mightier than him! Hence, this mission, I can’t fail!"
His words had just dropped when he aimed the dagger straight at her heart. But the dagger was met with empty air, not flesh. He froze for a moment before his face brightened.
He stepped forward and looked down the bottomless cliff, his face swirling with glee. Humans really are silly! The woman jumped off this cliff right in front of his dagger but she did not realize that if she was stabbed, she might still have a breath left in her but falling off this cliff...
The leader clicked his tongue and left.
The cliff sunk in silence. At this moment, in the isolated place, the sounds of soft footsteps echoed as a person draped in a black cloak approached. As the person squatted by the spot where Lareina fell, the cloak slid back and Moira’s face came into view. After squatting there for a while, she bit her lips and pushed herself to her feet.
’’Ahh...’’
Moira’s feet halted at the sound of the soft groan, ’’My Lady... My Lady... You are still alive!" She approached the cliff hurriedly and bent to her knees, bursting into tears, ’’I was scared. I went into hiding when I saw the chaos. Those villagers went mad... I... was harassed and bit by some of them...’’
Lareina glanced at the extended branch she had grabbed in desperation. Her hand was filled with injuries and blood trickled down her skin. This branch would not last any longer.
Hearing Moira’s voice, Lareina was a little moved. The spot where she was hanging could give up any moment. At this moment a hand came to her view.
’’My lady, quickly grab my hand. I will pull you up before those people come back. Things are not optimistic on His Highness’s side.’’
Lareina gritted her teeth, ’’Where is Astra?"
’’She was met with a batch of assassins when she was running away. Her situation is not good as well. As much as we don’t stand the sight of each other, I cannot...’’ Moira’s voice trembled, ’’I cannot be by myself in a place like this. I should have never come here in the first place.’’
Lareina fell silent.
’’We can settle our grudges later on. My feelings for His Highness would never change and I stand by that,’’ she enunciated each word, ’’He met you first, married you first but I have been by his side for years... I deserve a life with him and...’’
’’Pull me up first,’’ Lareina cut her off when the branch swayed.
’’Here...’’ Moira lowered her hand, ’’Can you reach me?"
Lareina struggled a little before grabbing the hand.
’’You have to loosen up a bit. Let go of what you are holding and shift your weight onto me,’’ Moira leaned back, tightening her grip, ’’Are you ready?"
’’Yes...."
Slowly, a smirk tugged at Moira’s lips and she held the hand in a bone-crushing grip before suddenly jerking it up and letting go.
’’Ah! You...’’
Lareina’s screams were drowned in the seemingly endless abyss.
When Moira shifted to her feet, all she could see was a black shadow that appeared the size of a dot, ’’Fallen to your death, haven’t you?" Her eyes twinkled as she loosened the cape around her body before tugging off the corset. Her body reverted back to its seductive charm as her breasts came free.
Moira ran her fingers through her pinned up hair, letting them free, ’’But in any case, you should thank me, shouldn’t you? I almost pulled you up to save you just so you could suffer what I had prepared for you. Oh how I would have loved to watch you suffer bit by bit and walk into your death ignorantly...’’
Moira sighed, ’’But I changed my mind at the last moment because this works just fine as well for the both of us. It’s a pity that you get an easy death but things become easier for me too. I will take care of your husband from here on...’’ She looked into the abyss and whispered to herself, ’’Don’t worry, My Lady...’’
’’Who are you talking to?"
Moira stiffened when she heard the familiar voice.
Azrael walked towards her, his steps were unsteady and his eyes were covered in a crimson haze. He grabbed Moira by her arm and turned her around so that she stood facing him, ’’I asked... Who are you talking to?" His eyes were bloodshot and he seemed to be on the verge of stepping into complete insanity.
