Daddy's Gourmet Shop-Chapter 254 - 246: There’s a Turn for the Better!
After lunch.
It was a warm afternoon.
The sun hung high in the sky, casting a thousand rays of light and just the right amount of warmth.
Having some free time, Huang Tao pulled up a small stool to sit at the entrance of his shop, leaning his head against the door, holding a thermos cup in his hand, and squinting slightly, enjoying the warmth brought by the sunlight and chasing the faint fragrance carried by the sunlight.
Jiang Guowei, seeing the sunshine so good, couldn’t help but step out of his own convenience store, wanting to sunbathe and also to sterilize a bit.
Seeing Huang Tao sitting at the shop entrance sunbathing, he smiled and greeted him, "Boss Huang, enjoying the sun?"
"Yes."
Huang Tao nodded with a smile and responded, "Jiang, are you out for a walk?"
"Boss Huang, your shop space? How’s the search going now?" Jiang Guowei asked with concern.
"Still looking!"
Huang Tao smiled bitterly and then continued to tell Jiang Guowei about his recent situation, "I’ve searched for many shops on the rental app, and have gone to see quite a few, but none of them were satisfactory."
Jiang Guowei knew that the shop space Huang Tao favored the most was actually the ground floor of Mrs. Lin’s home next door.
But unfortunately, Mrs. Lin wasn’t short of money and didn’t want to rent it out!
In fact, Jiang Guowei and his wife had privately called Mrs. Lin more than once to facilitate this and had tried to persuade her earnestly.
But ultimately, it ended in failure.
He couldn’t help but comfort him, "You can’t rush this, take your time looking, you’ll eventually find the right one."
Just thinking about Huang Tao moving the Delicious Restaurant to another place once he found a different shop, making it hard for them to savor another bite of Boss Huang’s cooking, filled his heart with mixed emotions.
It didn’t feel good.
But they couldn’t hinder Huang Tao’s growth!
All they could do was silently pray in their hearts, hoping Huang Tao could find a shop closer to West City Old Street.
That way, they could still ride an electric bike over to buy food.
And Huang Tao nodded with a laid-back expression, "Exactly, when the water reaches the bridge, it naturally forms a way!"
Saying so, he pulled out his phone, opened the rental app, and checked the latest shop information.
This was almost becoming the app he checked every day.
But he had no choice!
How else could he find a suitable shop?
At the moment, he marked the shops that seemed okay with a heart for later contact.
After looking through the rental app, he turned to the recruitment platform.
He reposted the chef and waiter recruitment ads, previously taken down after filling the positions.
No doubt.
He planned to hire another chef and additionally a waiter.
Because he was concerned about not having enough kitchen stoves previously, he hadn’t hired an additional chef, so the volume of each dish served couldn’t go up.
Although facing difficulties in finding shop space right now, the system had already issued related tasks, making expansion or relocation inevitable.
He simply decided to hire a chef and a waiter first.
Having one more helping hand, he could increase the dish volume, even though he couldn’t withstand the variety of customer demands every day for more dish volume.
Originally!
For the chef position, he wanted Xu Hao and Lin Zifeng to help recommend a classmate learning cooking.
But those classmates all had stable jobs and didn’t intend to switch jobs temporarily.
He could only think of other ways.
An old recruitment ad was reactivated by him.
At that moment, a call came in on his phone.
The caller ID showed it was Mrs. Lin next door.
It seemed things were turning around!
Guessing this in his heart, he quickly answered the phone and said with a smile, "Hello, Mrs. Lin."
The voice of Mrs. Lin came through the line, "Boss Huang, I’ve thought it over and decided to rent the ground floor of my two-story building to you, the rent will be according to what you said last time..."
"Sure, no problem, when would you be free to sign the contract?"
"How about this afternoon around 3:30? Both my son and daughter-in-law are at home today, they can bring me over, and you could check the ground floor at my place too."
"That works! I’ll prepare the contract and wait for you at the shop."
After exchanging a few pleasantries with Mrs. Lin, Huang Tao hung up the phone and shared the good news with Jiang Guowei, "Jiang, Mrs. Lin changed her mind, she’s agreed to rent the ground floor, she’ll come over later to sign the contract."
"That’s wonderful!"
Jiang Guowei laughed cheerfully, happier than when he got married.
He turned around and ran into his convenience store to tell his wife, Chen Wenli, this good news, "Wife, Mrs. Lin agreed to rent, we can continue to eat Boss Huang’s dishes in the future."
Meanwhile, Huang Tao downloaded a shop rental contract on his phone, adding the monthly rent and supplemental terms.
Fortunately, at this point, he had Xu Hao steam the Honeyed Ham and Dongpo Pork in advance.
Xu Hao and Lin Zifeng were busy preparing other ingredients together.
He instructed them to keep an eye on things and headed to a nearby print shop.
He printed two copies of the contract.
Returning to the store, he got back to work.
Approaching 3:30, Huang Tao walked to the door to take a look.
The neighbors lining up early at the entrance smiled and greeted him, wondering why Huang Tao was standing at the shop door, curious about what he was up to.
It wasn’t until they saw Huang Tao enter the two-story building next door with a familiar couple and two seniors that they realized what was happening, smiles of delight appeared across their faces.
On Huang Tao’s side, discussions with Mrs. Lin and her husband were underway.
Mrs. Lin was as amiable and kind as he imagined.
Elder Lin was also very chatty.
But their son and daughter-in-law were even more enthusiastic and passionate.
In just a few minutes of contact, Huang Tao quickly understood why Mrs. Lin, who had been steadfast in not renting out, suddenly changed her mind and agreed to rent out the ground floor.
This situation was very favorable for him.
Of course, as an outsider, he had no intention of meddling in other people’s family affairs.
So he pretended not to know and joined in on the house tour alongside Mrs. Lin.
The ground floor was about the same size as his shop, but there was a lot of old furniture that looked like it had been used for many years.
Elder Lin sighed helplessly and said, "Boss Huang, I heard from my wife that you’d lock up the second floor and leave it as is, but we’d like to move the first floor’s furniture up there for sentimental reasons, I hope you understand."
"No problem, you can decide on that."
That furniture was of no use to Huang Tao, so he readily agreed, then laughed and said, "I’ve already printed the contract, please review it, and if there’s no disagreement, we’ll sign it."
Speaking, he produced the two prepared contract copies and handed one to Elder Lin.
Elder Lin’s son and daughter-in-law leaned over to look at the contract together.
"Dad, seems fine to me, you can sign it."
Upon hearing this, Elder Lin nodded and picked up the pen to sign his name on both contracts.
Once the other party signed, Huang Tao also signed his name.
Seeing both their names on the contracts, Huang Tao felt his heart finally settle.
Anyhow, he finally secured his most coveted shop space.
Once this wall is knocked through and everything is renovated properly, the shop’s size will more than double.
Of course.
The contract is for five years.
However, Huang Tao thought that when development improved, he would directly make a large purchase of shop space, which would be more convenient.
That’s talk for the future!
Only after making enough money can this goal be achieved.
