Medical and Martial God-Chapter 238: What You Can’t Get Is the Best
"Blood for blood!"
Qiu Yunxuan’s expression was fierce as she glared at Prisoner B, squeezing the words through her clenched teeth.
Seeing this, Ye Xiu smiled. He had been worried about his aunt’s misplaced compassion.
With a flick of his wrist, the fruit knife became a streak of cold light that plunged into Prisoner B’s throat.
"Ye Xiu, thank you for avenging my parents and brother," Qiu Yunxuan said gratefully. Seeing Prisoner B breathe his last, she felt a surge of relief, as if a decade-long vendetta had finally been settled.
"The Qiu Family was only implicated because of me. Even though I have avenged them, I still owe them a debt," Ye Xiu said, his voice laced with guilt.
Qiu Yunxuan approached, stroking Ye Xiu’s face. "Silly boy, don’t blame yourself. If anyone’s to blame, it’s me for insisting on marrying your uncle all those years ago."
Ye Xiu sighed to himself. Such an understanding aunt only deepened his guilt.
Changing the subject, he said, "Since you put it that way, Aunt, I won’t say any more. Let’s go home!"
"Okay!" Qiu Yunxuan nodded.
"Tonight, go home and get a good night’s sleep. I’ll send someone to take you back to Jin Ye City tomorrow morning."
At the mention of going home, Kong Dongming sighed wistfully and muttered, "Twenty years... It’s time to go home!"
"Cousin, aren’t you coming back to Jin Ye City?" Kong Ruoruo asked.
"I still have things to handle on Qingfeng Road. I’ll return as soon as I’m finished," Ye Xiu replied.
"Then you better hurry! I’ll be waiting in Jin Ye City for you to teach me Kung Fu," Kong Ruoruo said.
"Alright," Ye Xiu nodded.
After seeing Kong Dongming’s family back to the Four Seasons Flower City community, Ye Xiu prepared to leave.
"Ye Xiu, there’s a guest room here. Why don’t you stay with us?" Qiu Yunxuan suggested.
"Yes, we’re all family. There’s no need to be formal," Kong Dongming added.
"I still have things to do," Ye Xiu teased. "Besides, you two haven’t had a proper reunion in twenty years. I’m sure you have a lot to talk about, so I won’t intrude."
"You cheeky brat! Getting bold enough to tease your uncle now, are you?" Kong Dongming laughed as he scolded him.
"Cousin, if you don’t stay with us, what if the Lian Family sends someone to attack us?" Kong Ruoruo asked fearfully.
"Don’t worry, someone will protect you. I guarantee that however many people the Lian Family sends, that’s how many will die," Ye Xiu reassured them.
The three members of the Kong family exchanged glances, suddenly realizing that Ye Xiu’s current power and influence were far beyond what they had imagined. Such boasting could only be backed by formidable strength!
However, they didn’t probe any further.
"You’ve faced more storms than I ever have, but as your uncle, I still have to remind you to be extremely careful. Our family can’t withstand any more disasters," Kong Dongming said gravely.
"Rest assured, until I have avenged my mother and my maternal grandparents, no one in this world could kill me, even if I wanted to die," Ye Xiu stated with almost arrogant confidence before getting back into his car and leaving Four Seasons Flower City.
As he drove, a warmth spread through his heart. The feeling of being cared for and worried about by family was deeply comforting, something he hadn’t experienced in ten years.
The real reason he didn’t stay at his uncle’s house wasn’t because the couple needed time alone after so many years apart. It was because he had received news on the way back: Shen Monong, the woman at the center of the marriage alliance between the Shen Family and the Lian Family, had gone to a bar.
He had to go and personally confirm her feelings toward Lian Zhengrong. If she actually liked Lian Zhengrong and wanted to join the Lian Family, then stopping the marriage alliance would be incredibly difficult.
「Myst Bar」
Inside a private room, the handsome and refined Lian Zhengrong was dancing wildly with several scantily clad young women. The music was blasting at a deafening volume. Lian Zhengrong was nothing like the poised, scholarly gentleman of public rumor; here, he was just an immature delinquent lost on the dance floor.
Just then, the door to the room opened. A bald, muscular man walked in, followed by five flashy-dressed thugs.
"What is Shen Monong doing?" Lian Zhengrong turned off the music, poured a glass of wine, and asked.
"She’s still drinking alone. She seems very depressed," the bald man reported.
"Hmph!" Lian Zhengrong snorted, a sinister glint in his eyes. He said coldly, "It seems she’s truly repulsed by tomorrow night’s marriage banquet between the Lian Family and the Shen Family. So she came here to drown her sorrows."
The other beautiful women swarmed him, all talking at once.
"Young Master Lian, you’re wealthy and dashing! Why waste your energy on a woman who doesn’t love you? Aren’t we enough for you?"
"I love you so much, Young Master Lian, but you just treat me like a toy! Shen Monong never even gives you the time of day, yet you treat her like a treasure. It’s so unfair to me!"
"You should enjoy life to the fullest! Young Master Lian, your youth is for having fun. Why are you in such a hurry to leap into the grave of marriage?"
Faced with so much affection and flattery, Lian Zhengrong accepted it all, kissing each of them in turn.
"You are all my dear confidantes," he said, "but Shen Monong is my chosen wife. Only after I’m married can I freely have fun with all of you."
Upon hearing this, the women were all displeased.
Truth be told, these women each had a net worth in the millions, some even in the tens of millions. They cast aside their dignity and pride to fawn over Lian Zhengrong like dogs, all for a chance at the Lian Family’s power, status, and money. They dreamed of marrying into a wealthy family and living a life free of worry.
Yet Lian Zhengrong had always treated them as mere playthings, cycling through them frequently, which left them feeling humiliated, anxious, and helpless.
