Cultivating through increasing my stats in America-Chapter 40 - Limit Break Points
Chapter 40: Chapter 40 Limit Break Points
Chapter 40: Chapter 40 Limit Break Points
The sunlight gradually surged from the distance, sweeping over the garden, walls, and windowsills, and finally landed on the curtains.
Li Ang would usually have awakened earlier, but because last night drained a good amount of his energy, he unusually slept until the sun shone into the room.
The young body is indeed different, and little Li Ang even woke up earlier than him.
Without opening his eyes, he instinctively stretched.
Hmm… a soft pillow, and also something else soft…
Li Ang suddenly became fully awake, remembering that there was someone else in his bed.
Sheila was also awakened by Li Ang’s movements all of a sudden.
Last night turned out to be the most peaceful sleep she had had in a long time.
Recalling the brief touch on her chest just now, her cheeks, under the sunlight, blushed slightly.
“I think, I need to go prepare breakfast.”
Dressed in a black silk pajama set, Sheila climbed out of the bed nimbly yet self-consciously and quickly ran out of the room.
But before she fled, she couldn’t help but look back at the slightly risen thin blanket on the bed.
She felt that her mindset was somewhat strange now; if it had been one day earlier, she might have even teased this little brother and wouldn’t have exhibited such an escapist behavior.
Right, it must be because she wasn’t wearing makeup, that unhealthy early morning complexion must be the reason she felt insecure.
Sheila quickly found a reason to convince herself.
Thinking that Sheila was probably washing up now, Li Ang lay in bed for a while without getting up, instead habitually opening his attribute panel.
Name: Li Ang
Strength: 8.82 (+0.02)
This chapter is updat𝙚d by freeweɓnovel.cøm.

(Trait: Increased lung capacity by 20%)
[Tongbei Fist] 223/400 (Mastery)
(Trait: Improved reaction, Nerve Aggregation Ability by 20%)
[Sports Massage] 61/100 (Beginner)
To his astonishment, he found that his attributes had grown to varying degrees just overnight.
Even [Tongbei Fist] had increased by several dozen points in proficiency, roughly equivalent to the results of his grueling practice for more than a dozen hours.
At the same time, a new entry, [Limit Break Points], unexpectedly appeared in the attribute panel.
And since he had dinner last night, he hadn’t engaged in any related training or added points to Breakthrough Points.
So that could only mean that these attribute increases were all related to the confrontation with two black men last night.
But in his memory, subduing those two black men hadn’t seemed to expend too much effort.
At least the physical exertion definitely hadn’t exceeded the amount he spent sparring with several coaches at the martial arts gym.
But upon further reflection, the feeling he had after wrapping up last night was kind of similar to the sensation of claiming victory in a bicycle race, yet it was slightly more intense.
“Could it be that the outcome of training is not only related to the duration and intensity of the training but also to the context and state of mind at the time?”
Li Ang speculated quietly to himself.
Honestly, when he sparred with those coaches, he was fairly relaxed, as his intent was simply to refine his [Tongbei Fist] techniques.
During the races, he could assure himself that he was giving it his all, and this feeling was somewhat different from the effort he put in during regular training sessions.
As for the confrontation last night, he could say he had risked everything, as the outcome of not having fought could have been unbearable for him under those circumstances.
Perhaps the acquisition of Breakthrough Points was related to both the competitions and last night’s fight; it was just that too few were gained in the previous races to show, until they accumulated with this time’s and he finally obtained some.
Li Ang had his suspicions, but he hadn’t reached any definitive conclusions and could only put them aside for now,
“What’s the role of Breakthrough Points?”
No sooner had this question flickered through Li Ang’s mind than he quickly surmised that if Breakthrough Points were for leveling up and strengthening the body, then Breakthrough Points might be for pushing one’s bodily limits.
But this conclusion didn’t excite him; instead, he felt somewhat disappointed.
Because this implied that all his attributes probably had an upper limit.
He had originally thought that with daily hard work, in a few years, his physical fitness could be on par with a superhero’s.
Now, it seemed that this goal might be tough to achieve.
But thinking about it, that made sense: superheroes are formidable because they are inherently not human.
Li Ang, for his part, still had the foundation of an ordinary person.
Countless gifted athletes spend their lives without even brushing against the limits of human potential.
And yet, not only could he touch those limits, it now seemed he might even be able to break beyond the limits of humanity.
Seen in that light, the revelation wasn’t so unacceptable after all.
Li Ang tried adding the one Breakthrough Point to his [Spirit] attribute.
This was the attribute where he first felt he was nearing his body’s limit.
As the points increased, Li Ang expected to feel the long-lost sense of coolness in his brain.
But the next instant, his brain was hit with an intense and swift surge.
This surge was from the inside out, and he even had the illusion that his brain was about to burst open; even with his current willpower, he couldn’t help but let out a pained grunt.
Fortunately, the sensation came quickly and left just as swiftly.
When he looked at his attribute panel again, he found that the Breakthrough Points had gone down to zero, but his [Spirit] attribute had changed.
Spirit: 15.30/31
This specific attribute hadn’t changed, but next to it, a limit for this attribute appeared – 31 points.
Now Li Ang was somewhat surprised; he hadn’t expected the upper limit for the [Spirit] attribute to be so high.
If based on his previous [Physique] being around 11 points, his [Spirit] of around 15 points was close to the body’s upper limit.
Taking into account the space reserved for physical tolerance, the ratio between [Physique] and [Spirit] was roughly 1:1.5, from which it could be inferred that the upper limit of [Physique] was probably 20 points.
Considering his current [Physique] of 13.5, the [Spirit] he could bear was about 20 points.
However, no clear connection has been found between [Strength] and [Reaction] yet, so he couldn’t determine their upper limits for the time being.
Knowing this information, Li Ang realized that Breakthrough Points were extraordinarily important, and he would have to be mindful of how to obtain them moving forward.
“Thud, thud, thud”
Li Ang heard the sound of bare feet hurrying towards the door.
Indeed, entering the room was Sheila, with her bare feet.
At that moment, she was looking at Li Ang with concern, asking:
“Dear Li, what’s wrong? I thought I heard your voice just now.”
