Contract Marriage: Let's Make It Real, Mrs. Sterling!-Chapter 248: Someone Stealing a Kiss
When Jensen Sterling returned home, he found the young lady had already fallen asleep.
Only a small bedside lamp was lit, its light dim but warm, as if waiting for its other owner who had yet to come home.
Before, coming home was always into a pitch-black, cold apartment. Now, with this soft light, it seemed to pierce directly into the depths of one’s heart, casting a ray of light into the cold, dark chamber.
She occupied half of the bed, seeming small and quiet, obediently sleeping there. Her loose hair casually spread on the pillow, with a few playful strands gently falling on her cheek, making her look even more serene.
The middle of the bed also had her long bolster pillow.
And in Mia Sutton’s arms was another pillow. Ever since she realized she had been hugging Jensen Sterling like a pillow, she got herself a smaller one, then placed the larger one in the middle of the bed to continue acting as a kind of demilitarized zone.
Jensen looked at Mia, a smirk forming slowly on his lips. He bent down slightly, his gaze lingering on her face for a long while, then gently brushed away the strands of hair by her cheek, his movements very tender. 𝐟𝚛𝕖𝚎𝕨𝗲𝐛𝚗𝐨𝐯𝐞𝕝.𝐜𝗼𝗺
His gaze upon her carried a warmth that even he hadn’t realized. After some time, he leaned down slowly and planted a soft kiss on her cheek.
His demeanor was very serious, one might even say reverent, perhaps even grateful.
Grateful that she was so wonderful, grateful she came into his life.
As for anything else, he’d take it slow; he wasn’t in a hurry.
After a while, the person in bed seemed to sense someone nearby, her delicate brows furrowed slightly. Seeing this, the corners of Jensen’s eyes crinkled slightly, before he moved away his lips and slowly straightened up.
Soon, he saw her brows relax, snuggling against her pillow, showing no signs of waking, contentedly falling back to sleep. At this, Jensen let out a soft chuckle, and reached out to tuck her in.
Then he turned, taking off his coat, setting it aside as he walked, undoing his cufflinks before entering the bathroom.
Mia Sutton was so tired from reading scripts, so engrossed, that she even dreamed of acting while she slept, completely unaware she had been kissed stealthily.
Really... such a shame.
...
Jensen bathed quickly, and after drying his hair, he walked to the bed and lifted the covers.
Then, he reached out and tossed the giant pillow in the middle of the bed to the floor, gently removing the one in Mia’s arms too.
Without her bolster, the young lady instinctively snuggled closer, stopping only when she felt a person nearby, peacefully starting to sleep again.
Amusement touched the depths of Jensen’s eyes. At that moment, the thought of having been angry with the young lady felt somewhat childish.
After tucking her in, he reached over to switch off the dim bedside lamp, plunging the room into darkness. In the dark, Jensen gently draped an arm over her waist, closed his eyes, and gradually fell asleep.
The night was now very quiet, with no more clamor from outside, only the sound of two people breathing in the room.
And an... utterly abandoned large pillow on the floor, enjoying the spacious yet cold ground, quite content.
