Contract Marriage: Abusive Love with Mr.CEO-Chapter 650 - 339: Longing
Rebecca Quentin held back her tears, hesitating, "I..."
"Are you still reluctant to let him go?"
Rebecca Quentin lowered her head, shaking it vigorously.
Christine Quinn said slowly, "You don’t need to rush to give me an answer... I’ll be staying at Geoffrey’s to accompany you for the next few days, until you’ve made up your mind. Of course, regardless of your choice, my words remain the same: I will always support you."
"Sis, thank you..."
Rebecca Quentin lay on the bed in a daze, completely unaware when Howard Geoffrey entered the room.
"What are you thinking about?"
The sudden magnetic voice startled Rebecca Quentin, "Nothing... nothing..."
These past two days, she had been with Christine Quinn the entire time. Often, when Howard wanted to be alone with her, she pretended not to notice, and they grew gradually distant. It was only at night that he had the chance to talk to her.
Howard Geoffrey took off his suit and sat on the edge of the bed, holding Rebecca Quentin, "Since you have your sister, do you not need me anymore?"
"No, you know my sister always has lots to talk to me about." She really didn’t want to speak to him, even though in the past two days, his every move was so considerate and gentle. But whenever she thought about him and Alice Robinson, she couldn’t keep her heart calm.
She hadn’t continued to be distant from him these past days just because she was considering her sister’s suggestion.
She would make a decision soon!
"Did you go out this afternoon for work? Why did you come back so early?"
"Lisa Cecily knew I hadn’t gone on vacation yet, so she asked me to return to the company to handle a matter she couldn’t solve. As soon as I resolved it, I came back." In the past few days, they had grown more and more distant. She no longer clung to him like before whenever she saw him. "What’s been happening these past days? You aren’t willing to talk much to me?" Howard suddenly held her tightly, as if afraid she would leave.
"The pain from the wound makes me feel unmotivated." Rebecca Quentin found a reasonable excuse to prevaricate. She didn’t understand; had he, who was so clever before, truly not known why she was so indifferent now? Was it just that he was unwilling to explain the matter between him and Alice?
"Becca..."
Howard still wanted to say something to Rebecca Quentin, but Rebecca Quentin had already taken the pillow from behind her, "I’m tired, I want to sleep for a while!"
Howard fell silent.
Rebecca Quentin moved her legs, which could now move lightly, and gradually lay down.
Howard said no more, helping Rebecca Quentin to lie down and tucked her in with the blanket.
Rebecca Quentin turned away from him, closing her eyes.
Howard softly stroked Rebecca Quentin’s hair. At this moment, he had already made a decision.
Afternoon.
Sunlight sprayed into the room through the translucent glass.
Rebecca Quentin sat by the window, lazily basking on the balcony. She lightly flipped through the book at her hand, looking peaceful and leisurely.
"Mommy..."
A childish voice arrived.
Rebecca Quentin turned her head to see Andrew running in from outside the room, and she smiled.
Andrew snuggled up to Rebecca Quentin, his bright eyes staring at her.
Rebecca Quentin reached out and hugged Andrew to her side, asking, "Weren’t you playing with little Kitty in the garden?" Little Kitty was Aunt Anne’s granddaughter, and lately, Aunt Anne often brought her here to play.
Andrew lowered his head to look at Rebecca Quentin’s leg, asking, "Mommy, does it still hurt?"
Rebecca Quentin shook her head, "Not very much, but I can’t hold Andrew right now."
Andrew then squatted down, childishly blowing on Rebecca Quentin’s knee.
Rebecca Quentin laughed, "What are you doing?"
Andrew replied innocently, "When Andrew feels pain, mommy blows on it, and it gets better."
Rebecca Quentin chuckled, then held Andrew on her lap.
Andrew called out nervously, "Mommy..."
Rebecca Quentin kissed Andrew’s tender cheek, smiling as she said, "Andrew blew on it, and Mommy got better. Now Mommy can hold Andrew."
In fact, after more than a week’s convalescence, she could slowly walk, but her knee wasn’t entirely healed. If the child squirmed in her arms and touched the wound, it would still hurt a bit.
Andrew sensibly said, "Mommy, I won’t move, so you won’t feel pain."
Rebecca Quentin nodded, "So good."
Andrew began to casually flip through the books on the table.
Rebecca Quentin asked, "Little angel, why weren’t you playing in the garden with Kitty?"
"Sister went home."
"Oh."
"Mommy, Daddy!"
Andrew suddenly picked up a book, tilted his head, and pointed at a picture in the magazine.
