Contract Marriage: Abusive Love with Mr.CEO-Chapter 651 - 339: Yearning (Part 2)
Rebecca Quentin looked over.
Sure enough, it was Howard Geoffrey. He had attended a business summit a couple of days ago, and it was reported in the magazine today.
"Hmm."
Andrew hugged the book and continued to flip through it.
Rebecca Quentin leaned close to Andrew, pondering for a few seconds, suddenly spoke, "Andrew, do you like mommy?"
Andrew nodded vigorously.
Rebecca Quentin casually asked, "Then between daddy and mommy, who do you like more?"
Andrew tilted his head, seeming to think very seriously, "Daddy."
Rebecca Quentin felt a bit disappointed at once.
Unexpectedly, the little guy illogically added, "Daddy likes mommy, mommy likes Andrew, so daddy and mommy both like Andrew, and Andrew also likes daddy and mommy."
The little guy spoke as if it were a tongue twister, and Rebecca Quentin couldn’t make sense of it in her mind for a long time, finally ending up with a tangled mess in her head.
"Becca."
Christine Quinn had somehow arrived beside the mother and son.
Andrew sensibly called out, "Aunt."
Christine Quinn lovingly picked Andrew up from Rebecca Quentin’s lap, "Hey, little guy, didn’t I say not to cling onto mommy like that?"
Andrew answered seriously, "Mommy is better."
Christine Quinn looked at Rebecca Quentin in confusion.
Rebecca Quentin smiled and nodded, "Yes, Andrew gave me a huff, and I’m all better."
Christine Quinn then realized that Rebecca Quentin was just coddling the child, and she joined in the laughter.
While Andrew played beside them, Christine Quinn chatted with Rebecca Quentin.
"So, did you test Andrew’s reaction?"
Rebecca Quentin propped her chin and watched the child playing happily, a faint sorrow in her eyes, "I can feel it; he can’t do without Howard Geoffrey."
Christine Quinn sighed lightly, "Then what to do? Your leg is gradually getting better. If you don’t make a decision now, it might be too late when Howard Geoffrey takes you to Foam Island."
Rebecca Quentin lowered her gaze, her face slightly pale.
"There are two things I need to tell you, one good and one bad. Which do you want to hear first?"
Rebecca Quentin quickly looked up, "Good news?"
Christine Quinn nodded, "Then I’ll tell you the good news first!"
Rebecca Quentin’s shimmering eyes were fixed on Christine Quinn.
Christine Quinn answered slowly, "In the days I’ve been in New York, I had someone secretly follow Howard Geoffrey... He’s only been going between two places, home and the office."
A glimmer appeared in Rebecca Quentin’s dim eyes.
Christine Quinn nodded, "Yes, this means that Howard Geoffrey hasn’t met with Alice Robinson these days. As long as there’s no work at the company, he’s been staying at home with you."
The light in Rebecca Quentin’s eyes grew increasingly bright.
"Don’t get too emotional yet; there’s still something else..." Christine Quinn hesitated slightly, "It might be bad for you, but it still needs verification."
"Tell me."
"I went to the hospital where Alice Robinson was admitted, and no one was willing to tell me about her condition. Coincidentally met a cleaning lady, I inadvertently learned from her that Alice Robinson was hospitalized because she was pregnant. She had severe morning sickness, even once failed to reach the restroom in time and threw up beside the bed, which the cleaning lady happened to see."
The glow just now in Rebecca Quentin’s eyes gradually turned blurry and suddenly became dazed.
Christine Quinn clasped Rebecca Quentin’s slightly trembling hand, wrapping it tightly with the warmth of her palm, and objectively stated, "I think there’s a possibility that Alice Robinson is secretly up to something."
Rebecca Quentin took a deep breath, suddenly let out a bitter laugh, and shook her head, "Alice Robinson has already fooled me once with a pregnancy; she won’t use it a second time."
"You mean..."
Rebecca Quentin still smiled faintly, but the smile was full of helplessness and despair, "I think I have nothing left to hesitate about."
Rebecca Quentin’s heart, filled with sadness, had shattered into pieces, and the news of Alice Robinson’s pregnancy was like a sharp blade, wounding her fragile heart once again.
Rebecca Quentin lay on the recliner, enjoying the cool breeze. Although slightly chilly, it was comfortable, allowing this breeze to take away all her worries and sorrows!
"Becca, it’s getting colder today, come inside!" Howard Geoffrey stood on the balcony, glanced at the sky; it would rain tonight!
After Mrs. Geoffrey sent Christine Quinn away, Howard Geoffrey got the chance to have some alone time with Rebecca Quentin.
"Stop looking, let’s talk." Howard Geoffrey took away the magazine next to Rebecca Quentin’s hand.
Rebecca Quentin slightly lifted her eyes to peek at Howard Geoffrey. It had been two days since she heard the news of Alice Robinson’s pregnancy from her sister. In these two days, she still pretended as if nothing happened, but in reality, the wound in her heart had torn so badly that she could barely hold on.
She had deliberately been pretending that her leg was healed just to avoid being too intimate with him.
Every night lying beside him, she would always think of the possible intimacy he had with Alice Robinson... She loathed it to death!
She decided to leave with her sister and never get involved in his life again, even if the pregnancy news might be Alice Robinson’s trick. She didn’t want to find out anymore because he had at least given up their wedding for Alice Robinson.
Rebecca Quentin stood up and slowly walked into the room. The only person she felt guilty towards was Mrs. Geoffrey, who was very kind to her, personally preparing soup for her every day; otherwise, her leg wouldn’t have healed so fast.
"The company doesn’t seem to have much going on recently." Rebecca Quentin sat on the edge of the bed, her clear eyes looked at him.
"Mm, I’ve delegated everything to the vice president."
"If you have time, spend more with Andrew! You’re usually so busy with work that you don’t have much time with him." Before she took Andrew away, she hoped he could have more time with him.
"Becca, I..."
"You have something to say to me?" Why not say it? If you were honest with me now, no matter what happens to us afterward, at least I wouldn’t hate you at this moment. Why don’t you say it?
Howard Geoffrey pondered for a bit and then shook his head, "No."
Rebecca Quentin’s heart sank.
Was he still unwilling to be honest with her? Was he really planning to let their relationship remain this strained? Or was he just waiting for her to be the one to tear the facade?
Yet he surely didn’t anticipate she would never let herself be that humiliated.
"I’m glad you let my sister come with me." She felt that she and he had less and less to talk about. She could no longer act spoiled, or be intimate with him like before.
