Contract Marriage: Abusive Love with Mr.CEO-Chapter 436 - 231: The Hidden Truth Behind His Father’s Suicide
Rebecca Quentin chuckled softly, "I haven’t even thought of him occasionally in the over twenty days since I returned from France. Do you believe that?"
"I believe it."
"I actually thought you would say you don’t believe it..."
Chester Robinson gave a faint smile, "I was reflecting on you and him, wanting to talk about what happened in France."
Rebecca Quentin immediately sat upright, "Did you find anything?"
"No, there were too many people that night, it’s impossible to know who tampered with your drink. I even had people investigate the waitstaff, but none were suspicious."
"What about the waiter who lied to us?"
"The very night I called to question him, he resigned. We can’t find any trace of him now."
Rebecca Quentin slumped back into her chair, "Looks like it’s going to be very hard to find out anything..."
Chester Robinson spoke earnestly, "I will continue to investigate, there are always traces to be found."
Rebecca Quentin sighed, "Forget it, Doctor Robinson, there’s no need, it’s been so long. Everything that could be checked has already been checked, it’s unlikely to find anything new."
Thinking it over, everything had already happened, and investigating further seemed pointless. Besides, after returning to T City, everything had returned to normal, and even if something was found, it seemed like it would just cause more complications. She didn’t want to deal with any of it anymore; she just wanted to live a quiet and simple life.
Chester Robinson slowly released, "That’s true, not investigating might be a good thing for you."
"Hmm." Rebecca Quentin laid her head back on the chair and slowly closed her eyes.
Chester Robinson suddenly asked, "Enough about this... Are you off tomorrow?"
Rebecca Quentin, too tired to open her eyes, murmured, "Yeah!"
"Then come to the hospital for a check-up!"
"I’m not going to the hospital."
Chester Robinson put on a serious face, "The six-month recovery period is over, we should see if there’s still any chance for recovery."
Rebecca Quentin shook her head, "Forget it..."
Chester Robinson frowned, "Are you really going to give up on your health?"
"I’m not giving up, it’s just that I don’t have time tomorrow... How about next week, I’ll go to the hospital when I have a day off."
"Then it’s settled. I’ll wait for you at the hospital next week." 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎
"Alright."
The next day.
Rebecca Quentin spent the whole morning shopping and returned at noon with her hands full of bags.
Placing everything on the large bed in her room, Rebecca Quentin sat at the edge, contentedly opening all the bags.
Suddenly, she picked up a cute little yellow jacket and murmured to herself, "One year old, should be able to wear this..."
After folding it, she picked up another item to look at.
She carefully checked the fabric of the clothes, afraid that there might be any uncomfortable spots, and then checked all the toys she bought, fearing any damage that could hurt the child.
After carefully inspecting all the clothes and toys, she was finally satisfied and took out her phone, dialing a number.
"Hello, Isabella..."
"Becca!"
"Is your little one behaving well?"
"Yeah, and she’s already ten pounds just out of the month. Roger says she’s a little chubby girl."
Rebecca Quentin giggled, "Who says that about their own daughter? Besides, it’s good for kids to be a bit chubby when they’re young."
"That’s right, even if she’s a little chubby girl, I love her, she’s my precious. I never tire of looking at her every day!"
Rebecca Quentin continued to smile, but her bright eyes dimmed a little.
Realizing she spoke wrongly, Isabella Joanna quickly added, "Uh, I mean, having a child is a wonderful thing, as long as they’re healthy..."
Knowing her friend was trying to comfort her, Rebecca Quentin calmly said, "Isabella, it’s okay..."
"Becca, I understand how you feel, but I once had Roger try to persuade Mr. Geoffrey, but Mr. Geoffrey..."
Rebecca Quentin interrupted, "Andrew being with him is better than with me." Growing up in a complete family is much better than in a single-parent family, and what he can give the child would surely be the best.
Isabella Joanna sympathized deeply, "I know it must be hard for you, but Becca, rest assured, Roger says the Geoffrey family adores Andrew immensely, and old Mrs. Geoffrey can’t bear to be apart from him for a moment..."
"I know."
"Andrew’s one-year-old birthday banquet is in three days, are you coming?"
"I won’t be going... this is actually what I wanted to tell you."
"Hmm?"
Looking at the clothes and toys she’d bought, Rebecca Quentin said slowly, "I can’t be with Andrew on his birthday, so I bought him some clothes and toys, and some clothes for your little darling too... You’re definitely going to attend Andrew’s birthday banquet, I’ll send them to you this afternoon, and you can give them to old Mrs. Geoffrey for me!"
