Clumsy Beast, Keep Your Paws Off-Chapter 376: The Race to Find Their Mate
Xuan Long’s eyes almost turned completely dark, his pupils shrinking into thin slits as he heard the threat hidden in An Mo’s tone.
For a moment, he truly wanted to drag this man down from the sky and tear him apart.
How could he have forgotten? No matter how strong he himself was, An Mo had always been like this...unpredictable, shameless, and without limits.
When it came to desire, that man never knew restraint. If he wanted something, he would chase it no matter the cost.
An Mo was exactly that kind of person.
Xuan Long forced himself to calm down. The more he provoked this devil, the more dangerous the situation would become. He could not afford to lose control now.
He slowly exhaled and spoke in a cold, steady voice.
"An Mo, this is not your playground. This is not a place you can treat so casually."
An Mo laughed, a bright, mocking sound.
"Brother, you’re mistaken," he said lazily. "I’m not treating it like a child’s game. I know exactly what I’m doing."
He took a step back in the air, smiling at Xuan Long. Then he gave him a playful wink.
In the next moment, a pair of enormous wings suddenly spread out behind him. They were huge, far larger than anything the people below had ever seen. The air trembled as they unfurled.
With a single beat of those wings, An Mo shot into the sky like a streak of light. In the blink of an eye, he was gone, disappearing beyond the clouds like a shooting star.
It was his way of leaving.
The entire fox tribe stood frozen in shock.
Aside from Xuan Long, no one had expected such a scene.
"What... what kind of wings were those?" someone whispered.
"I’ve never seen anything like it."
They thought he might be from a bird tribe, but even among the bird tribes, no one had wings that large. And the pressure he gave off... it was suffocating. Just standing near him had made it hard for them to breathe.
And yet, the man who had faced him directly... Xuan Long was even more terrifying.
Now that An Mo had disappeared, the tribe finally let out quiet sighs of relief. They looked at each other with uncertain expressions, still shaken by what they had just witnessed.
But Xuan Long hadn’t moved.
He was still standing in the same spot, staring at the empty sky, his expression dark and unreadable.
Han Jue was still staring at the empty sky when he finally snapped out of his thoughts. He stepped forward, his expression serious, and looked at Xuan Long.
"Who... was that man?" he asked.
Most of the beastmen had heard the conversation between the two brothers. It was clear they knew each other very well. There was history between them, and not a good one.
The way that man had threatened Xuan Long... especially when he mentioned his son and the elders... it made everyone uneasy. 𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮
Did that mean Xuan Long was hiding his son from his own family?
Did he not want the child to be recognized by his tribe?
Many questions filled Han Jue’s mind, and the others felt the same. But none of them dared to speak those thoughts out loud. This was not the time.
Right now, the most important thing was not the mysterious man from the sky.
It was their missing mate.
As the situation calmed down, they finally noticed something. The faint ache that had been lingering around the totem after the explosion had completely disappeared. The totem looked just as it had before, as if nothing had happened.
Han Jue slowly raised his hand and rubbed his chest where the mate mark rested. The mark of the beautiful fox.
He lowered his head and whispered softly to himself.
"Lan Lan... it must be you. You must be fine, right?"
His voice was low, almost trembling.
"Nothing should happen to you. I’ll come find you soon. Just wait for me... don’t be afraid."
Rong Ye and Shi Feng looked just the same. Their expressions were tense, but no longer panicked. Now that they knew their mate might still be alive, they forced themselves to calm down.
They needed to think clearly. Panicking would not bring her back.
Only Hu Yan looked different.
He was still kneeling on the ground, unmoving. His eyes were empty, as if his soul had left his body.
He was the one who had seen everything with his own eyes...how his female had struggled against the witch doctor and how she had fought desperately while he was too weak to even move.
He couldn’t protect her.
He couldn’t even reach her.
Now she was gone. And both of his sons were gone with her.
There was a hollow, lost look in his eyes, as if he had fallen into a place where no one could reach him. He didn’t speak. He didn’t react.
He just knelt there in silence, like a man who had lost everything.
Xuan Long finally looked away from the sky.
His eyes were still cold, but the darkness inside them slowly settled. He glanced at the totem. It was calm, not glowing, not reacting in any way.
That meant one thing. His mate was fine.
He believed in her. She was not weak like others thought. In many ways, she was even more capable than the males in this beast world. She would protect herself. She would protect their cubs.
A faint pride rose in his chest. Now there was only one thing left to do. Find her.
He was not worried about the difficulty. He could travel across the entire domain alone. Finding his own female would not be hard.
He just had to be faster than An Mo.
His eyes darkened again at the thought. He could not allow that devil to meet her first. Not even for a second.
Xuan Long then looked at Han Jue and Rong Ye. They were trying to pull Hu Yan to his feet, but the tiger was still lost in his thoughts.
Xuan Long frowned.
His gaze then shifted to Shi Feng, who was kneeling beside Hu Yan.
"We have to find Lan Lan," Xuan Long said. "She must be fine somewhere. But we need to reach her quickly."
