Chapter 97: Coming Clean
Lily was about to drop kick this fucking idiot for the way he was talking to her, like she had done something wrong. "Excuse me? What was I thinking? Well I thought it would be a good form of exercise, he looked to be a worthy opponent, and I didn’t know his fighting style. So yeah what’s wrong with any of that?" Dimitri knew she was right in her way of thinking, but he also felt she was deliberately avoiding the obvious. He walked away from his brother needing a private moment with his mate.
"You know what I mean. I’ve already shown my displeasure at you being so close with my twin brother. I demand you stay away from him. We don’t know what he wants. He could be using you to hurt me. Please think about this logically." He wasn’t being overly unreasonable, but the fact that he felt like he had to demand it of her was a bit much to her.
"What makes you think I’m going to just reveal all my secrets to him? He has been nothing but cordial to me and all I’m getting from you is he wants me and I shouldn’t trust him because of that. Is that about right?’ He sighs exasperated with her thought process since this was not how he wanted this to come out. "No its not and don’t go twisting my words. Males try to work their way in with sweet words and kind actions. I just don’t want you being sucked in by that."
Lily could see what he was saying, but he didn’t know Dran any better then her so how could he make these assumptions about a person he didn’t actually know? She felt there was more going on then she knew about, but you have to get so close to a person to see whats really happening around them. She was still working on the give and take in their relationship.
Taking a deep breath she steadied herself knowing this wasn’t helping. "Look I wasn’t trying to stay in my room waiting for you to wake up. I didn’t even come here with him. I was down in the merchant district before heading this way. I heard they fighting and was curious." Dimitri was finding this hard to believe because ever since he showed up they had been tied at the hip.
However if he was trying to be a good mate he would have to trust that what she was saying was the truth. Taking a deep breath he lets it out easing his stance for her. "I’m sorry. It’s just we have been apart and you haven’t wanted to be around me. Did something happen?" Lily wasn’t sure she was ready to have this talk with him, but he was asking.
Before she could speak his brother walks up to them waiting to be acknowledged. "Sorry to interrupt, but I had already been here before she even started the fight. Several people here can verify that." Dimitri was a but irritated that he would be eavesdropping on their conversation. "Thank you, but I trust my mate. If she said she wasn’t here, she wasn’t. I came out looking for her when she wasn’t in her room."
Dran figured something along these lines when he seen him on the streets earlier. Both were not wanting Lily to go with the other so she had to bring up the elephant in the room. "We slept together. And no I don’t regret it. I also have no way to explain it. And if I did, you’d probably be just as hurt."
Dimitri was shaking hearing this news never believing in a million years she would do something like this. "Did I do something wrong? Am I not good enough?" He didn’t want to make it about him, but it felt like he missed something or didn’t support her in some way she needed.
Lily didn’t think this would be his reaction, but she rubbed his arms needing to touch him. "No You did nothing wrong. Its just.. aahh. The reason I went to the merchant district was to find Bar. My father is supposed to give me some books about being a goddess. I am hopefully they will shed some light on why i want the both of you when I should only want you."
Dimitri was surprised to hear that she still wanted his brother let alone that there was something more she needed to learn being a goddess. She is a full goddess, even if she came from two species, so maybe things worked differently for her. "You still want him?" That was the main thing sticking in his head was that she wanted more then just him.
"I think I do, yes. I’d like to explore more and maybe see where it goes. He hasn’t marked me, but that may just mean he can’t. Either way I know I don’t want to ignore it. I’m just not sure what to think of it all." Lily was still confused about her emotions and needs demanding things she couldn’t believe she wanted.
Looking between the two of them they had a lot of the same instincts to protect her, but they also wanted to control a lot of the outcomes. Lily wanted to be honest about her feelings so this would be a sticking point in their relationship. "So what? Your dating my brother while being mated to me. ow does that work?"
Lily wasn’t sure how it was going to work either since both males always wanted her attention. Dran speaks up at this moment giving his piece of the situation. "Look, brother I didn’t even know what was happening at first then she started helping without being asked. can you honestly tell me you knew at first that she was the one?"
"But she is mated! That should have stopped you from acting on you feelings and what’s worse is she is my mate. Not your friends or another distant relative but your brothers. Doesn’t that mean anything to you? Why her?!" Dran knew he would be mad at him and he was making very fair points.
However Dimitri should know just like him that when a dragon wants a treasure he does anything to acquire it. At that moment a loud screeching sound resonated through the settlement causing everyone to stop in their tracks. Lily and Dimitri knew who it was, but everyone else was shocked to hear another dragon so far out of the way.
Looking to Dimitri she had a feeling her mother had something to do with this. *She’s always one step ahead of me, if not more." Lily looked to the big opening in the ground and a large shadow cast over it. Reaching for the element air she flew herself to the entrance leaving the two idiots behind to battle out their differences.
She flew where she saw her father wrapping a robe around himself with a large pack sitting on the ground next to him. He turned to see her opening his arms, to which she ran into them beginning to cry. "I don’t know what to do. I’ve found myself in an impossible situations, and I’m not sure how to proceed with any of it." He stroked her head letting her cry knowing she needed this.
Magnus could tell his child was in conflict, but even he knew there was only so much he could do or tell her. Artemis came to him in his dreams telling him that their daughter needed him. Then she gave a basic location of where Lily might be. Grabbing a few things that help and remembering that she was coming to the age where most goddess’s begin their training. freёnovelkiss.com
Grabbing the books he wrote because this world wouldn’t have the text he studied and he couldn’t go get the ones he needs until the winter solstice when he could return home. He also grabbed a couple books his sister had given him just in case Lily needed more guidance.
Holding her now, he could tell she was going to need everything he brought. "Don’t worry, my child. We can fix whatever you have done. It’s not all lost. Come now, dry up those tears." Lily pulled her face back as Magnus wiped the tears from her eyes. Now I hear you have had some trouble with your mate and possibly second mate. Is that right?"
In that moment, two dragons fly through the hole in the ground going high then landing on the surface facing him. Dimitri bowed to him while Dran kept a defensive position unsure of this new guest. Magnus could see that the two were almost identical except for their color. Dimitri was all blue, a few shades lighter then his own color, and Dran was all black, but the thing that made them look the same was the way their scales patterns matched.
It was rare for dragons to match so well let alone twins because dragons don’t usually have twins. "Is this them?" Lily nods hearing his question watching Dimitri shift while Dran stays in dragon form. "Yes it is. What are you going to do?"
He smirked like he had something devilish in mind. "I’m going to see if their even worthy of my daughter."
