Chasing The Vengeful Villainous Heiress-Chapter 156: Are you sure you’re not mistaken?
Just then, Steven walked in, causing everyone to frown.
"Ah, it looks like I am not welcome." He said, smiling nonchalantly. "But I can’t help it; I am worried about my sister-in-law’s health, and I couldn’t help but overhear that you are..." His eyes brimmed. "...expecting a child. Congratulations."
Valerie glared at him. Whatever he was plotting by coming to give his supposed concerns. She would never let him get close to her husband.
For all she knew, he was as bad a threat as Romaine.
"Steven, why are you here?" Grandpa Leo asked.
"Oh, as I said, grandfather, I came to show my support for my brother’s recovery as well as my sister-in-law’s." He said but anyone could see it was otherwise. "Haha, that’s not it. That’s a lie." He said and stepped to the side. "I actually came here with Eliana to get a pregnancy test. Come in and say hi, darling."
Eliana walked in and bowed her head. And with a little smile, she waved.
"Hah! Already pregnant when you’re not yet married. Kids these days." Grampa Leo exclaimed.
"That’s harsh, Grandfather. How do you think Eliana will feel? I expected a congratulations but it’s not too late." Steven said and Grampa Leo unwillingly gave him his congrats.
"Congratulations." He said.
He wasn’t comfortable around this grandson of his. He was cunning and dangerous. And then, he brought in a woman of unknown origins as his fiance, claiming she loved her with all his heart and would die without her, when in fact, the only person he loved was himself.
This pregnancy... They didn’t even know if it was a scheme he came up with because he could use anything to his advantage.
Something about that girl made him feel on edge.
"But it’s true that you’re not married yet." Grandpa Leo spoke up. "Could you not have held back even a little bit?"
"Haha, I am to blame for that. I simply can’t keep my hands off my wife, you see." Steven proclaimed, wrapping his arms around her waist. "She’s a charmer."
Valerie had heard quite enough and shook her head.
"I would like to speak with Grampa. Could you leave us for a moment?" She asked, referring to Steven.
"Oh, of course. Take your time. I’ll go see my brother in the meantime." Steven said and walked out with Eliana.
"I’ll go with them to make sure they don’t do anything funny." Mariam said, and once they were gone, Valerie said,
"It’s her."
Tiana looked down at her.
"What is?"
"The person who was following us earlier? It was Eliana."
"Are you sure you’re not mistaken?" Grampa Leo asked and Valerie shook her head.
"I’m not. That stature... I knew I had seen it somewhere and it turned out to be Eliana." She said and they gave it a thought. "Please, you have to trust me on this."
"I’ll run a thorough background check on her." Grandpa Leo said. "I already had a feeling she was suspicious. For now, I’ll have guards stationed outside your ward for now."
"Alright."
Grampa Leo left and Tiana started coughing. She coughed quite a lot that Valerie got alarmed.
"Are you okay?"
"I’m fine. I’m...fine." She said. "I’ll just...use the bathroom."
She left for the bathroom right away and watched her bloody mouth.
There was just a month left. She needed to do everything she could in that one month and leave a pleasant memory for her children.
She planned to use the guise of traveling the world to leave and die in a hospital after writing them a letter.
But with the way things were, she couldn’t simply bring up the topic of traveling the world. It was insensitive.
’Maybe I can prolong it a bit. I... I’ll take the drip.’ she thought and walked out.
"Mother, are you okay?" Valerie asked, worriedly.
"Yeah, just a little cough. It’s not a big deal." She said. "Say, sweetie, why don’t we change your ward? We can’t have the enemy springing up on you out of nowhere."
"That’s a good idea."
They changed her ward to a more secure one discreetly, and Tiana went to find her doctor. She got the drip, and that night, she stayed at Valerie’s former ward with guards stationed outside in case anyone tried to assassinate her, thinking it was Valerie.
But that didn’t work out well.
That night, a nurse carrying a tray of supplies walked up to the guards and said,
"I need to refill the patient’s drip."
The guards allowed her to go in after inspecting her face as well as the face on her ID card.
It was Eliana, with a little touch of makeup, who changed her appearance a bit to match the one on guard, and she successfully fooled the guards.
Quietly, she went straight to the drip stand.
’I’ll make sure to get rid of you this time, Valerie.’ She took out the syringe in her pocket and grinned like a maniac. ’You and that baby of yours are going to hell.’
She stabbed the needle in the transparent drip bag and watched as it mixed with the little quantity left in the drip bag.
It slowly flowed down the tube and she smiled.
’I wanted to torture you a bit more but this seems to be the only way I can get rid of you. You got lucky.’
"Who are you?" She suddenly heard Valerie’s voice from behind and turned in shock. "What are you doing there?"
What was Valerie doing there? Wait, if she was there then who was on the bed?
She finally looked and saw it wasn’t Valerie but Tiana.
Ah, she made a mistake.
(AUTHOR HERE: So, I don’t have many readers at this point. Welp, scratch that. I don’t have any readers at this point but I’m doing my best to write this story well so that the readers who will eventually read this book may come to enjoy it.
And because there are not a lot of readers, it’s going to be a short story. I had a lot of plans for it, but that’s in the thrash now, haha. What a shame?
It’s coming to an end soon. Hope you enjoyed the novel all the way. Thank you for sticking around till this point. I’ll make sure to create a satisfactory end for our dear couple and this book)
