Chapter 45: A shift to the city - II

The next day when Evelyn woke up, it was a little late so she went directly to breakfast still in her pyjamas but with a freshly washed face and brushed teeth.

"Good morning everyone," she walked into the dining room, "I am sorry I woke up late today." She excused herself as she went to sit on the other side of Angelo when she noticed another presence in the room.

It was Salvatore and she didn’t notice him in the room.

She stuttered to get out the right word and ended up standing there watching him.

"Come sit next to me, honey," Alexis patted the chair next to her which had a plate and cutlery laid out in front of it. Without embarrassing herself further, Evelyn lowered her head and walked towards the chair sitting down quietly in it.

She got served like everyone else and when she saw the food an involuntary grumble left her stomach making her dig into her plate.

"Evelyn," Angelo spoke up after some time and Evelyn barely held in the groan that she felt coming up.

"Yes, sir," she politely replied.

"I want you to prepare whatever you want to take with you today. The driver will take you back and forth because Alexis and I will be leaving around midnight."

Alexis sighed loudly and looked at her saying, "I wish I could give you a few more days to pack but having such a long flight can be tedious and I prefer to reach there in the evening so that I can wash off the jet lag."

"I understand," Evelyn whispered, giving them a quick flash of a smile before turning to Angelo, "I’ll start packing after breakfast." She informed him and then went back to eating.

She understood that it was out of concern that they were sending her to live with their son. They did not want Evelyn to stay in such a big house alone and for obvious reasons, if she would stay alone, it will only allow unwanted attacks.

She gulped the last sip of her tea before nodding that everyone and walking out to pack her stuff.

Closing the door to her room she pulled out to big suitcases. These should last the good enough for a month and then she was going to live there for probably more than a month she would also get her laundry done.

A knock came on her door and she held a come in.

"Hello," Agatha walked in, "I want to know if there was something I could help you with in packing."

"Oh no," respectfully so she politely declined the offer, "I have everything packed."

"Did you pack your underwear?"

Evelyn nodded, a but weirded out. "I did."

"And did you pack your college books notebooks and your phone charger and you have laptop too. I have also seeing you use your iPad, did you take that?"

"Yes, yes," Evelyn nodded her head animatedly, "I did."

"That’s good," Agatha nodded, "I have Julian stated behind the door. When you are ready with your packed suitcases and double check everything, he will be the one to carry them to the penthouse in the City."

Smile slipped out of Evelyn of the concern should by the woman, "Thank you." Evelyn said that no amount of deciet in her gratitude.

Agatha smiled and nodded before living the room.

Evelyn looked around the room and focused on what she have to pack. She took a hold of everything that she could find. She packed her electronics in a different bag and took a different bag for packing for books and notebooks and then she focus on her shoes and her clothes.

After packing everything, Evelyn was staring at her bed. There were two bags that contain the necessary items and then there was a separate back for her books and she had not even taken the books that she like to read for leisure. Then was three different bags for her clothes and into more for shoes but those two were small.. . .

She groaned almost reaching for pulling out her hair. That was too much stuff for just a month.

"Ma’am?" A knocking came on her door and Evelyn assume that it was Julian. She had to the door and opened it, "yes?" 𝑓𝓇𝘦ℯ𝘸𝘦𝑏𝓃𝑜𝘷ℯ𝑙.𝑐𝑜𝓂

"Are you prepared, ma’am?" Julian asst keeping his eyes trained on her and did not try to peek inside her bedroom.

Evelyn glanced at the suitcases kept on her bed. She did not want to make the man wait anymore then he already had so she nodded and let him come inside.

Julian did not glance anywhere but to where he was supposed to go. He picked up three bags at once, two big ones and one small, before walking out of the room.

Waiting for him to come back, Evelyn walked to the bed and put up her bookbag hoping to bring some ease to the man and picked up her purse.

"Ma’am," Julian appeared in her room surprisingly quickly making her jump, "please, allow me to carry the bag."

"Oh, no," Evelyn shook her head, "I don’t want to—"

Julian intervened, "It’s my job, Ma’am. Please let me do it."

Evelyn understood what he she was talking about. Biting her left out of slight embarrassment that she felt, she passed on the book back to her and left the room. He was given clear orders for this which is why he was adamant about not letting her carry any bad.

Evelyn walkee downstairs to see Alexis standing at the doorway and the moment Alexis noticed her presence she smiled and bridged the distance in between them.

"I am sorry for the sudden change in plans Evelyne," Alexis held her shoulders, "and I feel very bad that we cannot give you a definite timeline to how long it will be."

Evelyn shook her head. " Its okay, Mrs. Alessandro, I completely understand. Please do not apologize for something like this." She was not sure what would happen if Angelo saw his wife apologizing to her.

Alexis smiled and give her a quick hug before patting her shoulder, "Off you go, love."
