Chapter 348: Your Secret

Tom only slept a little and woke up early to have breakfast and start his day. It was a Sunday morning and a lazy day for everyone in the mansion except for the kids.

Tom was having coffee in the maid’s lounge when Charles approached him. "Thank goodness you are awake. Are you having a hangover right now?"

Tom tilted his head at Charles’ sudden question and replied, "I am not. I did not drink that much last night."

Charles then let out a sigh of relief, "Oh thank God, you are my savior, Tom! Dave is completely wasted and so is Tony. The kids have a Karate class today, can you drive them to the dojo?"

"Sure, no problem. I’ll go and change now," Tom finished his coffee and dressed up. He parked the van in front of the Mansion’s main door and waited for the kids.

Jayson was the first one to go out, "Good morning, Uncle. Seems like you did not sleep well."

Tom smirked at how observant this boy was, "Good morning Jayson. And you are right I wasn’t able to sleep well. But that’s OK, I will nap later."

"I want to nap too. Or go back to sleep. I don’t want to train today," Jena said making Tom and Jayson look at her.

"Well, I think you should not skip training since it is for your own good as well. You will be able to fight and defend yourself like your Aunt Amy," Tom said.

Jena frowned and asked, "Have I met you before? Your voice is familiar."

Tom chuckled and tousled Jena’s hair, "Yes, you met me yesterday."

Jena pouted and made Jayson and Tom laughed. Soon, an angry Tommy arrived alone without Lia and their nanny. He swiftly took a seat inside the van and crossed his arms while Tom buckled him up.

"Why are you frowning so early in the morning young man? You will grow old faster than you should." Tom can’t help but ask seeing how cute the little boy is with his angry face.

"It’s Lia. She’s having tantrums again! She doesn’t want to train so she is still in the bathroom crying and begging Grandma Alice. She is such a baby!" Tommy exclaimed making Tom chuckle.

"Well, little girls are usually like that. So, you have to be patient with your sister. And good job on waking up early to train. That way, you can always protect your little sister when you grow up." Tom said.

"But I am already grown up!" Tommy retorted.

Tom chuckled and gently squeezed the boy’s cheek, saying, "You’re cute. Take your time growing up, young man."

"I am not cute, I am handsome like my Daddy! And I am not young man, I am Tommy!" Tommy retorted.

"And I agree you are handsome like your Daddy Ash," Tom uttered together with a faint smile.

"No, Papa Ash is not my Daddy, he is Papa," Tommy then hurriedly pulled out his wallet from his bag and showed it to Tom proudly, "Here... look! This is my Daddy... He is handsome right?" Tommy flashed his biggest smile to Tom, completely forgetting his anger for Lia.

Tom stared at the picture of Amy and Henry and asked, "What is your full name, young man?"

Tommy rolled his eyes and sighed, "I told you, I am Tommy, not young man. Thomas Henry Welsh III."

Tom looked at Tommy with wide eyes and asked, "How about your sister?"

"My sister’s name is Amelia Henriette Welsh. She has our mom’s name but she is not like her. Our mom is strong and brave." Tommy then flexes his arms showing his cute little muscles at Tom.

Jayson who was watching the conversation between the two smirked and butted in. "The youngest here is Avery, Avery Luke Brighton. Aunt Ava named him. Avery came from Ava and Henry. Luke is Lucas, his grandpa. Aunt Ava said that Uncle Henry and Uncle Lucas saved their lives when the wellsite exploded so she decided to name her son after them."

Tom’s eyes were welling up while Jayson was explaining and he sniffed a bit before closing Tommy’s wallet and returning it to the boy, "That’s a beautiful name. All your names are beautiful. I like it very much. It all suits you."

Soon they heard Lia wailing and saw Grandpa Robert carrying her. "You guys go ahead, Lia will not join you today. She’s a little warm and I’ll tell Amy to bring her to the doctor later."

Tom and the kids drove off right away since they were already running a little late due to waiting for Lia. Tom carried a sense of heaviness in his heart as he drove, and Jayson, who occupied the front seat, noticed it.

"It’s ok Uncle. Have faith that everything will fall into place in God’s time. Grandma Alice always says that. I believe her. Before, I thought I would never be able to walk again. But thanks to you, I now have a black belt in Karate," Jayson smiled wide at Tom.

His words made Tom look at him with open mouth and frowning brows. He was speechless, he tried his best to conceal himself but this young man was really smart.

"Don’t worry. I’ll keep your secret, Uncle."

Amy woke up with a terrible headache. Not only because of the amount of alcohol she drank last night but also because of Lia’s cry. Her daughter’s cry sounded different and not like her normal tantrums so she immediately got up to check on her.

"Amy, Lia is a little feverish. It’s not that high but I think you should take her to the doctor." Alice said while patting the back of the crying girl on her lap.

"Alright, Auntie. Please help her get ready, while I get ready myself," Amy said before going back to her room.

However, before she could finish putting her make-up on, Ash’s nurse frantically knocked on her door.

"What is going on?" Amy asked as soon as she opened the door.

"Madam, Mr. Brighton is coughing too much blood and it’s not stopping. We should take him to the hospital now," the nurse said.

Amy staggered back feeling dizzy at the expected yet alarming news. They were already informed by Ash’s doctors that something like that could happen. Charles who was passing by heard everything and was able to hold her before she almost fainted.

"Tell Demi to look for someone to drive, Tom just left and Tony and Dave are in no condition to drive at all," Charles instructed the nurse.

"I will drive, please grab everything that he needs. I’ll take Ash to the car," Amy ordered to the nurse before facing Charles. "Lia is sick. Please tell Auntie Alice to meet us in the car." Amy did not waste any more time and quickly went to Ash.
