CEO's Contract Obsession-Chapter 349: Back to Him
Amy waits patiently in the waiting area while the medical team works diligently to address Ash’s life-threatening condition, which involves him drowning in his own blood. Previously, the doctor had informed them that Ash’s condition would deteriorate as his terminal illness advanced.
When this critical stage arrived, the moment they admitted him to the hospital, Ash would be unable to leave without signing a waiver. However, Ash and Amy had already discussed this matter. They both reached an agreement that Ash would remain on Amy’s farm and not endure his final moments confined to a hospital bed.
Amy stared blankly on the floor. She was so lost and confused. The incident last night with Tom crossed her mind and she doesn’t know what would she do about it.
’No, I can’t deal with him right now. Ash needs me more and I have to focus on him in the meantime.’ Amy thought.
"Mommy!"
Amy was awakened from her thoughts when she heard her little girl call her. "Hello sweetheart," she carried Lia and made her sit on her lap. "What did the doctor say?" she asked Alice.
"She’s ok, nothing is wrong with her. It could be the weather or she got tired last night. She was advised to drink lots of water to cool her body down." Alice said before sitting beside Amy, "How is Ash?"
"I don’t know yet. The doctors are still inside." Amy’s eyes were welling up but she tried her best not to cry in front of Lia, which Alice noticed.
"You did what you could dear. Ash wouldn’t want you sad." Alice wrapped her arm around Amy and pulled her closer into her embrace to comfort her.
"Auntie, I need a favor. Can you call Mary and ask her to bring Avery here? I want him and Ash to be together at all times from now on. I forgot my phone in too much panic."
"Oh, there’s no need for that. She called earlier, Mary and Anton will go here with Avery. Sandra and Rei will follow once Jayson and the rest are home so they can visit Ash together." Alice said.
"Mrs. Brighton," a doctor in scrubs called, and Amy quickly stood up to face the doctor. "We were able to stabilize him and stop the bleeding for now. However, even if we did a pulmonary embolization it doesn’t guarantee that it will not happen again."
"I understand. When can we take him home?" Amy asked right away to honor Ash’s wishes.
"If it’s ok with you we would at least want to monitor him for 48 hours before we send you home. Just to make sure that he is stable and strong enough to travel. I remember you said before that the travel time from here to your farm is at least two hours. We just want to make sure that he will survive that two-hour drive." The doctor explained.
"If it’s only 48 hours then it would be okay for me and I am sure Ash will agree too," Amy uttered.
"The VIP room that you reserved is ready and you can stay there while waiting. The other doctors are just prepping him up and Mr. Brighton will transferred there right away." The doctor remarked before leaving Amy and Alice.
"You go ahead dear, I will stay in the lobby to wait for Mary. I will also call your Uncle." Alice urged Amy after seeing how stressed she was, and resting would clear her mind.
On her way to the elevator, Amy and Lia bumped into Mary who was together with Avery and Anton.
"Mommy!" Avery exclaimed and wiggled his body, telling Anton to drop him down. He ran to Amy as soon as his little feet touched the floor and hugged her.
’My poor boy,’ Amy said to herself while a single tear left her eye while hugging Avery.
Mary saw it and joined in their hug. "Let’s all be strong for Ash, babe." Amy nodded and they all headed to the VIP room.
Ash was already there and was being assisted by interns and nurses. He smiled wide as soon as he saw his family.
"Papa!" Avery shouted in excitement before running towards his father.
"Best, is it OK if you give us some time to talk? You can leave Lia and Avery here. Wait for Tommy and the others in the lobby. Could you also order lunch for everyone while waiting?" Amy asked Mary so that she could talk to Ash about her thoughts.
Mary and Anton agreed. Lia and Avery saw some toys in the corner of the room which were requested by Amy knowing that her kids would also stay there with Ash.
"How are you feeling?" she asked Ash while sitting down at his bedside.
"Don’t worry about me. And I know that look. And my answer is no. I really want to spend the rest of my days on the farm. No need to rush me to the hospital again," Ash said gently.
Amy was trying really hard to stop herself from crying but looking at Ash made her fail. He is so thin, so different from the Ash that she used to know. And by just looking at him, anyone would know how much suffering he is going through.
"Alright. You win. But I will bring a medical team with us and you cannot say no or else I will not sign your discharge papers," Amy threatened with a serious tone but Ash chuckled at her.
"Ok, you’re the boss. I would not dare to say no." He then touched Amy’s face and said, "Thank you, Amy. I love you, my best friend, sister, and wife. Because of you, I will go and join Ava happily. I am not sad at all, especially knowing that my son is in good hands and will not be treated differently. I know that you will love him as if he is your own son. Thank you." 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝙬𝙚𝓫𝒏𝓸𝓿𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝙤𝓶
Amy could no longer contain her tears and swiftly hugged Ash as she sobbed.
Ash soothed her back and added, "Once I’m gone. Go back to him. You both endured too much pain and my last wish in life is for you to be happy in the arms of the man that you love and who loves you back."
