Chapter 56: Chapter 56: The Familiar-Looking Photograph

The next morning, Dominic Thorne frantically woke everyone up. They were all furious. At a time like this, what did he have to be so excited about?

"Did you win the lottery?" Felix Locke grumbled, rubbing his sleepy eyes. He’d been looking after Ronan Jenkins all yesterday and only got to sleep at 2 AM. Now that Dominic Thorne had woken him at just 6 AM, he was seriously pissed off.

"The Boss turned on his transmitter! We’re going to go storm that punk Noel Lynch’s place." Dominic Thorne’s face was alight with an excitement he couldn’t hide.

"The Boss had a transmitter? Then why didn’t he turn it on sooner...?" Felix Locke was completely baffled. ’Why would Kenneth Yates have a transmitter and not turn it on the moment he left?’

"The Boss probably didn’t want us to find him. He might be planning something," Sean Murphy said, walking out of Ronan Jenkins’s room. "Ronan Jenkins still hasn’t woken up, but he’s looking a little better."

"Alright. You stay here and look after Ronan Jenkins. Felix Locke and I will go tear up Noel Lynch’s turf."

"Okay. Be safe."

「Lavender Manor」

Kenneth Yates hadn’t slept all night. He’d avoided the security cameras and searched every room in the villa, but he found nothing related to Thea Shaw.

He found a photograph of a glamorous woman. Most importantly, she bore a striking resemblance to Lianne Vance! Kenneth Yates had never heard his mother mention having any sisters. ’Who could this woman be?!’

Noel Lynch was having breakfast. A maid hurried to his side and spoke to him in French. "Sir, the man in the room... he’s gone!"

The fork clattered from Noel Lynch’s hand. ’He escaped again? Did all the obstacles I designed have no effect on him whatsoever?’

Just then, the TV in the living room flickered on, displaying Kenneth Yates’s triumphant, smiling face.

"Noel Lynch, you’ve lost this battle again. Did you really think the alarm system in that room could hold me? Also, install a few more cameras next time." The screen went blank, and his face vanished.

Noel Lynch gripped the handle of his knife so fiercely that he didn’t even notice the blood trickling from his palm.

"Sir, your hand!" the servant exclaimed in alarm.

"Get out! All of you, get out! I don’t need anyone!" He needed no parents, no family, no one. All he wanted was to make Kenneth Yates’s life a living hell!

The servant, trembling from head to toe, hastily backed out of the living room. Soon, only Noel Lynch remained in the vast, empty space.

Noel Lynch frantically searched every room, hunting for Kenneth Yates. ’The main gate’s security feed didn’t catch him leaving. He must still be inside the villa!’

Meanwhile, Kenneth Yates was on the roof, looking down on the commotion below and admiring the lavender fields.

"Kenneth Yates! What gives you the right to toy with people? What gives you the right?!" Noel Lynch shouted, bursting through the rooftop door. He was panting heavily, and upon seeing Kenneth Yates, he made no effort to control his emotions.

"What grudge do you possibly have against me? Or are you just jealous?" Kenneth Yates said, turning around. He had known Noel Lynch would find him.

Noel Lynch’s eyes darted away, unable to meet Kenneth Yates’s gaze. "No! I’m not jealous of you! I’m not!"

Kenneth Yates watched his reaction. ’He’s nervous.’

"When the truth finally comes out, I hope you’ll understand," Kenneth Yates said, stepping onto the rooftop ledge.

’Truth? What does he know?’ Noel Lynch looked up to see that Kenneth Yates was already standing on the ledge, looking as if he could fall at any moment.

"No! I’m not done torturing you! You can’t die!" Noel Lynch shouted, running toward him in a panic.

"Heh," Kenneth Yates chuckled. ’Does he really think I’m going to jump?’

"Noel Lynch, the next time we meet, I’ll expose you without mercy."

’What?’ 𝗳𝚛𝚎𝚎𝘄𝕖𝕓𝕟𝕠𝚟𝚎𝕝.𝗰𝕠𝐦

Noel Lynch froze. A helicopter appeared in the distance and came to a hover over the rooftop. As Noel Lynch shielded his eyes from the downdraft, Kenneth Yates was already climbing a rope ladder dropped from the chopper, flying away into the distance...
